Riverside Golf Course
About
Situated along Florida's Gulf Coast, Riverside Golf Club in Ruskin is part of a peaceful retirement community. At just over 6,100 yards from the tips, the golf course is on the short side but it still offers an enjoyable round. From the back tees, the course actually presents quite a formidable test. The layout meanders along a creek before wandering across idyllic farmland and finishing along the river bluffs overlooking Hayes Bayou. The diverse terrain provides an array of scenery as well as a variety of different challenges. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides, waiting to swallow errant shots. Riverside Golf Club's layout combines more difficult holes with player-friendly features, which makes it approachable for players of any skill level.

course in bad shape
Fairways, tees & greens where in bad shape & it was aerated & didn't put any sand on it to fill in the holes.
This course is perfect to overcome fear of hazards
Sand and water is abundant off the tee boxes, before the greens, to the left and to the right. What I thought was going to be something of an executive course turned out to be quite the strategic challenge in regards to ball placement. 2 to 3 fairways could use some TLC but it is evident the course is receiving significant attention due lush tee boxes and greens. Can't wait to go back.
Great greens, nice people, great value
Great greens and tee boxes, fairways need more water but typical of Florida at this time of year.
Great value for the money
Greens appear to be in good shape however the fairways were not. Overall good value for the money.
Course needs work
We enjoyed the grill staff and food selection. However the golf course did not have a driving range and the course is in need of some TLC.
Waste of money
This course use to be half descent a few years back. The course is in pitiful condition. The greens are full of weeds and run uneven. I was dissapointed to say the least. It will take me many years to even consider playing there again.
This course has some nicepar 3's
The only thing I wish was different, and I know it's like this at most golf courses, but if I book a tee time by myself I don't want to play with people I don't know. Otherwise a very nice course. A good mix of long and short holes. The greens were great probably the best part of the course.
Small course
Overall, for the price, it was a good deal. The fairways and greens could use attention, but for the price, it's acceptable. This was a shorter course but still offered some challenging holes.
A fun track to play
It might take you a bit to find this track, but once there, you will enjoy the layout that is located in an active adult community of manufactured homes. Greens were in great shape- a little fuzzy for me; bunkers had plenty of sand; every tee box had brand new markers and a pot to discard broken tees- nice touch. My only negative was some of the fairways were a bit sparse. Guys in the pro shop were friendly. Starter got us out early and they had a ranger keeping everyone moving. We played in less than 4 hours on a busy day. Great selection of holes with plenty of water to avoid if possible. Course does not return after nine and there was no refreshment cart, so be sure to take your libations of choice with you. There are plenty of water stations. We really had fun playing Riverside.
Lots of bunkers
Fist time player there, We played with a nice couple from Wisconsin. Course was marked well. Tees an greens were good for February. Fairways a little spotty. Tons of bunkers, I hit them all. Water comes into play several times too. Plenty of gators. Got around in 4 Hrs, not bad. We booked thru Golfnow.com an got a great rate of $21 plus tax. Good deal for the money. I would recommend it if you are in the area. I had 42-46 88, Will go there again..
Nothing fancy but a very playable course...
This Par 70 course has a good mix of holes with different levels of difficulty to make it fun to play. It is not a long course but has a number of holes where shot placement is key to a good round. Course is in a over 55 retirement community so on Sundays be prepared for slow play other days are fine. A very good value for your dollar.
The course is very challenging.
The course features a variety course conditions from flat to rolling fairways. The greens are well groomed and challenging.
GOOD VALUE AND WELL MAINTAINED
Difficult to locate the course. A standard housing community course. Narrow fairways between houses or roads. Fair amount of water and OB zones. Par 70, and 6,100 yards from the back. Not an old man's course, fairly challenging especially in strong wind. Good amount of sand in bunkers. Greens, though well maintained, exceptionally shaggy and super slow in January. Very crowded, but moved along well. Good value for the price. Not a very natural setting.
Not pristine but in good condition.
10:58 Tee time w/ golf buddy. Nice course layout. Trailer Park home setting. Fairly wide tee shot landing areas. Tee boxes & fairways in good condition. Roughs are rough: making it slow in finding errant tee shots. Greens faster than they look; hairy. Definitely has some unique holes. Worth the trip for the great price I obtained thru Deal Caddy.
Not the worst course I've played in Florida - The Tides gets that distinction
As long as you're aware of the condition, it's not bad for $30.00.
The greens are terribly slow
No margin for error
The staff was a little unfriendly. However the main complaint is that the rough on many holes is only about 10 to 15 yards off the fairway until the OB stakes. Then the scary part is that the homes start 5 yards past the OB stakes on many holes. While being 20 yards off the fairway isn't all that unusually and even happens regularly to the pros, you do that here and you are hitting someone's home. You can see many of the homes are full of hits by balls.
On the upside you can see some gators in several of the lakes here.
Average
Played the course on November 7th When comparing the course to Summerfield, Bloomingdale The greens at Riverside are not up to par they require lot's of maintenance and up keep. The fairways are ok it's an interesting course
The price is right
over-all great
been playing course for years and this year the course is a gem.few damp spots but over-all its in excellant condition.greens are wonderful compared to some courses in area.
Nice course
The course itself has a nice layout. No two holes are alike. It winds through a neighborhood and it can sometimes be difficult to find the next hole. At the time that we played the rough was in terrible shape. Ankle deep in some spots. Balls not on the fairway would disappear. We mentioned this to one of the groundsmen and were told that the rough was new and had to be allowed to grow in order for the roots to take hold. After hearing about our lost balls he replaced them with some others he had found. We will try this course again in winter after the rough has been cut back.
