About
The River Course at Alisal enjoys a scenic backdrop provided by the foothills of the beautiful Santa Ynez Mountains. Stands of mature live oaks, native sycamores, and elderberry trees sway against the vivid hues of the mountains. Though scenery abounds, don't get too distracted because the golf course demands a fair amount of attention. It's a challenging but not punishing layout that features a variety of hazards that will reward length and accuracy. Seemingly wide fairways are bordered by mounding and the large greens have subtle but tricky undulations. One of the toughest holes is the par-4 seventh, which has a challenge waiting for you everywhere you look. A beautiful vineyard runs the length of the hole on one side and on the other, there is a lake that runs all the way up to the green.

Very nice course!
I’ll play again next time I’m here! Well kept, longer than my exec course in Palm Desert but just as nice!
Great course! We loved the layout and greens!
We had a wonderful day, taking our time and enjoying the layout and the greens. Staff was very accommodating. After hours dinner was awsome!
Great choice if around Solvang
Course was in great condition. All bunkers had recently been redone and had brand new sand. Course locals were very friendly and helpful. I did not walk, but it is very walkable.
Alisal river course
What a fantastic course!! The course layout is one of really nice. The course is well maintained, I have noticed maintenance staff looking after the course without affecting play. The staff were friendly and and welcoming. The pace of play was fast with a tournament going on. I will definitely play this course again!!
Nicely kept course; fluffy bunkers!
Ok, so yes, I know the bunkers/sand traps are fluffy because I was in them. However, these are the nicest ones in the this SoCal area. The course, including fairways and greens is very well kept, which made the course fun to play. Pro shop staff friendly and helpful. Lovely setting. It’ can be hot in Santa Ynez so plan ahead!
Aerated Greens
They had punched the greens a day earlier. Would have been nice to know somehow on the GolfNow app that that was the case.

Hadn't played the River Course for many years. It was fun, not in the best shape, and not the hardest layout. Greens were great. Conditions overall were above average.
