decent greens
The course was dried up and not much green grass. It had a few tight holes and most of the greens were elevated. It played short because of the bare fairways. The greens were slow but in pretty good condition. Very few sand traps on course , It needs some TLC.
GOOD DEAL FOR THE MONEY
GREENS IMPROVING A LOT GREENS IMPROVING A LOT
Any Questions
Course had been over seeded and not mowed in (12) twelve days! The PRO shop said they had advised GolfNow.THANKS GOLFNOW TEAM
small challenging greens
open course is short but the greens are small and tough. Still had a good time.
A nice day in the country
Went out with the wife for a relaxing round at The Abbey Course. Was greeted with the beautiful bells from the real Abbey. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Greens were in great shape, the fairways were more like the rough on most courses. Fun layout, tranquil setting, great deal from Golf Now. We will be back.
Hot Day to Golf!
The was was very hot, but clear, blue skies. Don't forget your sunscreen. The Abbey is a great small, beginner course. For the $15, its worth every penny. My wife took me for Father's Day and enjoyed every minute. A couple of the holes dog-leg pretty tight, so your tee shot is key (#6 and #8) otherwise, you're in the woods. I will return!
Lovin' the Par 6
Nice course to play at....reminds me of courses in England. Not extremely manicured! Has just enough rough edges. The Abbey Pub is a great place for brews and food afterwards!
I had a good time
Now for the price I was not expecting much. Its a great course to bomb around. Fairways are rough and firm. So you will get a lot of roll on them. Greens were good. If you do play it for the first time a few holes are not marked well on how to get to the next tee box. A few well placed signs would help correct that. Over all I did enjoy my time it wasn't crowded and I finished 18 holes in 2.5 hours. I believe I will play the course again. This course is great for shorter hitters and those new to the game.
AlwaysEnjoy
We always enjoy the Abby probably because we have played several timesand know it so well. Our level of play does not rrequire a championship course.. It is a short course, the fairways are very poor this time of ear but the greens are better than many of the courses we haveplayed
hardly worth the money
this had to be the worst course i have played in the area. the tee boxes were in disrepair, the fairways were non-existent and there were tire ruts everywhere. the greens were its only redeeming feature.
This is a fun, short course w/ a very interesting & unique lay out.
12:04 tee time w/ Leah for $10.70/ea thru GN.com. For the price, what conditions do you expect. Tee boxes not great but playable. There are no roughs. Grass on fairways & rough is a St Augustine caribou type but makes for playable lie. Much better than hitting off dirt. Greens are small postage stamp. Putts slow but rolls true. Couple of holes scary such as hole 1. Just left of green is Hole 4 green & just to right is Hole 5 tee box. A poor approach shot could hit someone putting on 4th green or teeing off on 5th tee box. The Par 6 10th is actually just normal length Par 5. It is a fun course & no 2 holes are alike. Gas powered carts w/ windshield but no rain cover in back. Restaurant had good food for decent price. Will play course again for approach shot/short game practice.
Nice Place
The staff is out of this world. They are always friendly and helpful. My son loves this place. The greens are in good shape, not too fast. The bells will put you at ease.
Abbey
I would definately go back and play this course again in the future.
Church Bells and Farmland
A friendly course in good condition. A bit out of the way. Might need a guide to find your way from some greens to the next tee box. Wide fairways. No out-of-bounds. Overall a very nice day.
really bad
t here is no fairways only crabgrass and ant hills every where. There is no sand traps.the greens were over seeded, which we found out after we paid. The greens were at least 2 inches thick, like a shag carpet. We did not even put, after playing golf in the Tampa and Orlando area the worst golf course I have played.
Nice Day Out
Played the course on 11/5, was a super cheap fee, but when at the course they had over-seeded and were to cut the grass on 11/6. Greens were impossible with grass higher than a USA quarter. Fairways appear to be St. Augustine grass - different experience. Pace of play was fast since you really could not put. Staff was great. Nice day out and the oak trees were magnificent. Not a memorable day of golf.
Qwerky but fun
Quiet little country course. Layout is unique to say the least, but that's part of its charm. The price is great and it's worth the drive to play this course.
Sunday Morning Golf
When it wasn't lightly raining, the weather was perfect to play golf. The rain was off and on. You can't beat the price of the Abbey. Enjoyed playing on Sunday morning. I will return.
Work on your game
Picturesque Florida course across from St Leo's College. From top of hill to green down in valley 1st tee on par 4 makes you feel like you can drive the green. Forced carry's, slight elevation changes, this is Florida so could be considered hilly. There are no sand traps for those of you that love the beach. Great place to practice your game as course if fairly open with uphill downhill lies. This is not your $50-$100 per round course but for the money well worth a visit.
Underrated
The Abbey Course is a small under rated jem. Talking with other golfers and reading reviews, the Abbey is presented as the "Red headed stepchild." Well, I'll tell you the "Red headed stepchild child" is a tough little guy with a lot of character.
A few holes do parallel each other, which I'm not a big fan of. Some holes you do need a map to find. Some holes are wide open fairways and some are narrow requiring you to be very accurate. Some holes you're shooting down hill and some you're going up. Some holes you were in the woods and felt like you were in the "back 40" and others are right next to State Road 52. Some have swamp hazards to shoot over, but there are no sand bunkers to worry about. And then there's hole #10, which is a par 6, yes a long long par six at 560 yards from the whites. About 3 of the fairways were overgrown and in desperate need of mowing. The rest were in a above standard condition. The greens were like nothing I felt before. They were the softest I'd ever stood on. It felt like there was foam padding underneath which was enjoyable. The greens speed theirselves were about average.
The course is great for beginners, good for moderates and fun for everyone as long as thier noses are not to long and held to high.
Over all, I loved the Abbey Course and can't wait to play it again and for only $15, it's the best deal around.
By the way I've eaten at the Abbey restaurant several times for lunch finding it very good.
