The Highlands Golf Course

About
The Highlands golf course is one of three courses owned and operated by Meadows Country Club. In addition to the Highlands and Meadows Courses, there is also the Arthur Hills-designed Groves Course, an 18-hole executive course. The Highlands Course has an "old Florida" layout equipped with plenty of trees and water that tumble across gentle hills. You'll be playing through majestic oaks and towering pines as you take on this challenging-but-fair test. Narrow, tree-lined fairways and small greens demand accuracy but generously the reward well placed shot. The golf course finishes with a tricky par 4. Your tee shot will to be straight and accurate to avoid the fairway bunkers on the left and right, positioning you for a mid iron back into a green that sloped front-to-back and guarded by bunkers on both sides. There is also a lake to the front left.

Greens
The course looks really nice with the excellent of the greens. They were really slow and needed to be cut. You had to really punch the ball even on down hill putts.
Green conditions
I judge the quality of a course by the condition of their greens and bunkers. Since arriving in Florida on November 1, this was the 4th course we played. The previous three courses had awesome greens. The greens we played on Nov 11 were unputtable. I've played greens that were aerified in better condition than the greens we played on Monday. It certainly did not warrant the course fees that we paid. Clearly, we should have received a discount, and told about the conditions of the greens before our round. On the other hand, the bunkers were immaculate.
An okay course which needs maintenance.
Cart paths are dreadfull. Fairways are slow. Grass next to fairways is 5 inch high. Impossible to trace a ba there.
What was great: there was nobody on the course. So could play at my own convenience.
Was my first time here. Recommended by another golf couple. For me also the last time. My ‘home course’ remains my preferred one.
Prices are suggesting a 4 star course. Not being four star the prices should come down to reflect that.
Cut the rough!
The rough was too long and hid our balls! Spent too much time looking for them. Then the Centre Court Lounge was closed so we didn’t have a drink afterwards.
Honest review
Do not book this golf course off of reviews. The couple past reviews must be paid for or employee review as advertised as great condition after closing the front nine all summer. No. The greens are not good. They were recently top dressed two days ago so I take that into consideration but they are still neat and lots of dead spots. To hit a putt on current putting surface is going to require lots of luck. The staff is very friendly, pace was great! Fairways meh. Greens not good. My opinion is go to Bobby Jones if you have to pay full price ($65) to play this course. This course in current condition is NOT worth full price. This course is worth $35-$40. The layout is very fun and would be worth more than their current asking price if they bring the condition up to par.
They have done a superb job fixing the condition from a disappointing past season. The course is really in great condition now and we have always enjoyed the layout and the first class customer service. I highly recommend the Highlands. Great value too.
Highlands Golf Course at The Meadows Country Club
This course is much improved since the last time I played the course. It is a beautiful layout and course you will want to play.
Pleasant durprise
Well worth playing. Better value than Bobby Jones. Great layout.
A pleasant surprise
I played this course once last year and was not happy. This year was a shocker. The course was in excellent condition, even though there was clean up going on from the storm. If you have not played this course this fall, you will be pleasantly surprised
