About
The Preserve Golf Club at Tara features Ted McAnlis' par 72, championship golf course. Exceptional care was taken to protect and enhance wetlands and other natural features of the course. At just over 7,000 yards, the course offers four sets of tees, allowing players of all skill levels to enjoy a challenging round of golf. Eleven bridges span the many small streams running through the golf course, protecting natural waterfalls and wetland habitats. A unique feature is the 60 foot Mount Matthew, which sits between the driving zones of hole five and six and forms an impressive backdrop for the tee shot. A beautiful clubhouse is open for lunch daily and is perfect for seminars, banquets or receptions.

Golfer Reviews
The WORST
Don’t play here this course should be shut down until they finish fixing it, read a few reviews it was getting in better shape and that’s crap
Hyundai golf
The course is improving a little every week they aerated the greens and actually put it better than they put it before with the holes still has a ways to go before it’s actually a premier golf course which it could be
Nice Course
The course is gradually improving. The greens have been redone, arriated, and are now taking hold. Business is slow until the greens get better and they get more recognition.
Constant Improvements
I Have been coming to the preserve for the past month and have had nothing but a good time. I have noticed overall course improvements every single visit. The effort is clearly there to get the course in great shape in time for season. There is no better value in the Bradenton area.
Noticeable Progress
Have been golfing here for a month as a beginner. Every visit shows promising progress. There isn’t a better value to go golf in the area. Beautiful layout and a dedicated staff that have been working hard on improving the course.
Weekly progress
Have been coming to the preserve for just about a month now and the weekly even daily progress has definitely been noticeable. The effort into getting the course into top shape is seen every visit. Bonnie Jean is a great place to grab a snack before heading out for the back 9. There isn’t much better golf for the price you will be paying.
Course Under Repair!! Unplayable greens.
I came by today for the first time to check out the course. The front 9 was closed today so everyone was on the back. Not crowded by any means, but the greens are simply unplayable. Dead grass, patches and fault lines, and even lawn clippings are littered all over. The course is under repair and this is not a true golfing experience right now. I paid 25 on a hot deal and feel cheated. I’d play manatee golf course or river run a hundred times before I’d play this course again in its current condition. It’s a shame, because the layout is really neat and you can see a skeleton of what at one time may have been an Outstanding golf course.
Not bad
First time playing here in a few months and they’re back to regular greens but they’re still not good but way better than it was. If they get get the greens in good shape this course has so much potential to be a great course
Rainy Day
It was a rainy day off and on. However, they obliged us, and we got it in. There were delays and pauses due to rain, but our choice to muddle through which we did and enjoyed.
Cancelled without notice
Drove 30 minutes from Siesta Key with a 7:40 tee time. Showed up at 7:15 and the 1 worker came out and said he decided to close for the day due to a pending storm with a lot of rain expected in an hour. It is now over 2 hours after our tee time and the weather is beautiful. No rain at all.
Good course layout
I really like the layout of this course. They had temporary greens for several months now, all regular greens. However, they need work, Rain and rolling the greens might be an improvement. They are like carpet, slow and uneven.
Poor greens
Played here many times the last 5 yrs. I understand they have been working on the greens. They temporary greens on more then 1/2 of all the greens for over 1 yr. They just opened all the greens again where it seems we're re-soded. Unfortunately they are impossible to putt on at this time. Super slow, bumpy, uneven. Rates should be dropped until greens are truly playable
.
Good Course
The course has been under repair with Temporary greens. Now it is back to actual greens, which are soft, but they need the rain, which is finally here. The restaurant this year, Bonnie Jeans, is excellent. The Proshop and cart staff are very good.
