Great Layout, condition worsening
I keep hoping for improvements of the greens and tee boxes but it doesn't seem to be happening. Some of the greens can't be putted on from certain locations. The grass is gone and the greens are rutted. Some tee boxes are nothing but weeds and dirt. The course is a great layout but they have to get things corrected condition wise. The practice green is immaculate so apparently they can maintain a green. The fairways are really pretty good so they can grow grass, just not on the tee boxes. I know they are putting money into things so maybe next year it will show results.
Greens are rough
The greens are 20% dead and tons of weed everywhere
Terrible greens
I worked on the grounds crew for this course in 2001 when it was a newer/hit course and was hosting Sr PGA events. I remember it as a terrific layout, meticulously groomed bunkers and fantastic greens. Unfortunately that isn’t the case now. The greens have sections that are unplayable. Some grass fungus and in terrible shape. Very soft greens that get torn up easily as well. Worst greens I’ve ever played from a maintenance perspective. The fairways were average at best, lots of plugs and crabgrass and not lush zoysia. The rough was all crabgrass, which is ok, but the dead grass clippings just sit on top and make it impossible to find your ball. Sand traps oftentimes didn’t have edges and looked bad. Through the last 20 years they’ve also removed 10+ sand traps and they are just grass. I didn’t hit into any traps so can’t say quality of sand but it looked decent.
I was very disappointed with the conditions and they need to completely rethink their investment in course maintenance. It’s a shame to see such a great layout be in such poor shape.
It’s an $85 layout w $30 maintenance.
Waste of time and money
Took my son there as we played it about 4 years ago. Into town for a few days and my wife and I play all over the country as we travel quite extensively. Price did not seem bad so decided to go back and play as last time was in my shape. The greens were atrocious lots of spots missing see some greens had some repairs tries but they failed. Should not charge for this course because greens are almost all impossible to play.
Worst greens anywhere
For $92 with my fees on GolfNow discourse wasn't worth $12! Worst greens I have played and I don't know when. My wife and I travel five to seven months of your golf all over and golf now usually has the courses rated correctly not this time! The course itself lay out is hard to understand but the greens when you are on them so many holes chunks missing parts sand just awful greens! Decided to bring my son in Kansas City to play and was embarrassed that this is the course I chose that was so close to him and it was bad!
Lots of potential, not worth the price.
Greens were in rough shape. That’s being generous. They were very rough. Weeds, bare patches, multiple areas under repair (or so it seemed), several pitch marks, even some divots filled in on a couple holes. Fairways, for the most part were decent. Tee boxes were similar to the greens. Overall not worth the price.
Great Layout, condition worsening
This is such a great layout that needs a lot of work condition wise. There are tee boxes, see number 7 as an example, that are all weeds and dirt. They need complete resodding. Several greens, see number 5 and others, that have a lot of dead areas in them and all have pot marks all over. Fairways are still okay. I know they are putting money into the course so I hope to see improvements soon.
12 out of 18 greens were dead due to grass fungus
the golf course has been hit hard by grass fungus on the greens: and on two greens the only thing on them that was green was the outstanding stand of crab grass..
Play Somewhere Else, not worth the money
Course was in horrible condition, greens were not well maintained and not sure if they have a fungus or just not taken care of properly. I've attached photos and putting through bare spots impacted the round in a negative way. $75 a round in the Kansas City area you could play dozens of other courses for cheaper and have way better conditions.
Awesome Layout / Needs TLC
Played this course while in KC for work, and I do think it’s a very interesting test of golf with a lot of character. However, it does sound and look like it’s been a couple years without regular course upkeep, so there were some patchy spots on the fairways and greens. I feel like the price range should be like $40-$50, until they can bring it back to what I envision was it’s old pristine condition. Then it could easily be considered a $65-$85 per round course! I will likely play here next time I’m in town.
Course is a cow pasture
Green's were horrible, so was the corse and a couple holes the tee box look to be set up in weeds. I won't be back its been a couple years since I played it, and it use to be on par
Only reason to play was the Hot Deal. Not worth anywhere close to the normal $65.
Half the tee boxes were dead. Greens were also very spotty. Looked like they over fertilized or limited water. NO return to clubhouse and beverage cart was non-existent.
Great track, short but tough
Played the Blues. Several holes were shorter but if you’re not driving well, quite difficult. Greens were super fast . Great time right on time and good pace.
Disappointed with amenities and course conditions
This is a Robert Trent Jones course...Atrium Hospitality should show the respect this designer deserves by keeping it in tip top condition. And also provide something other than hotdogs in the bar area...and turn on the duplexes in the women's locker room. This is a great course...be a great steward for this beauty.
Disappointed
My son and I have played this course for years. We always considered it one of the nicer courses for the money. Unfortunately that can no longer be said. For what they charge this course no longer meets expectations. From hard, ball marked greens to dry, little grass tee boxes to full blown clover growing in the middle of fairways, it is obvious that corners are being cut around this place. And I didn’t mention the mid calf length rough you have to walk through just to reach the tee boxes. Again, very disappointing for a course we’ve long enjoyed.
Good course challenging
The pace was slow but that was due to wet conditions making it cart path only.
Course was in good condition otherwise. Perhaps the rough was extra rough because of the recent wet weather. This course is eighteen holes out and back. There was a beverage/snack cart that came around a couple of times.
