Bent Tree Country Club

I arrived at the course on time and had to wait 28 minutes before I was able to tee off. There were two foursomes in front of us waiting at every hole. It took us over 3 hours to play 9 holes.

We ran out of time and had to stop after 9 holes. We went into the clubhouse to get a rain check for the 9 holes we were unable to play and they wouldn't give it to us. I thought that was extremely poor customer service.

While on a golf trip with friends we decided to give this course a try. Unfortunately I had knee surgery in January so could not play; however, I still came along to share some time with buddies. We had four rounds booked on this trip.

Point 1. Service. The other three courses played had no problem with me driving a cart even though I was not playing. I also had no problem paying a cart fee. Two. Of the other theee charges me $30 for the round and the other did not charge me at all. Bent tree wanted to charge the full green fee of $71, just to ride a cart. The starter said he would ask the pro after I told him I would try to walk. The pro was not going to let me go out at all with my boys. I was told there was not enough carts for our group to take 3 carts, but then was told if I booked on gollf now I could go out. So I paid $51 for a cart Clearly this was a cash grab.

Course conditions. The front 9 fairways were brutal. It was easier to find bare dirt than grass. The greens were acceptable throughout the course, the bunkers were atrocious throughout the course. Everything was hard mud. The back 9 fairways were better.

Overall this was a disappointing experience and I would not recommend this course for real golfers. If you want to hack around than fill your boots.

Arrived on time to find there was a huge back up before even starting to play! Over 3 hours just to play 9 holes. No rain check allowed. No ranger. However, the course is a fun one.

Great layout. Course maintenance needed a little attention. Good value.

Nice layout, decent pace of play.. greens were consistent but for fast later as the round progressed. Several tees needing care and poor Sandtrap conditions keep from eating it high. Really nice.price now compared to the area.

Course was in generally good shape, greens in very good shape. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Pace of play a little slow, but course was crowded. I'll be ba k!

Course was in decent shape. I enjoyed the layout. However….This course allowed too many tee times despite a cart shortage and course being backed up. They stated that was “normal” this time of year. We booked one hour before so

Down tee times if it was already backed up. Most golfers went off 15 minutes late. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Cart guys were friendly despite the stressful conditions.

Had to quit after a 3 hours on the first 9. Didn’t plan on a 6 hour round! Too few of carts and they push off way to many groups,

This course was fair to good. I would say 3 ½ out of 5. There were a few areas that were swampy. 18th hole bunker full of moss/algae. I found the bunkers had more of Mud consistently than sand which was the main reason for the lower rating. Could be 4-5 stars with a little sand and TLC. The staff were friendly! Would golf there again.

Lets start with the good news:.............

Now for the bad news.

This course has gone back to dirt. The front nine is totally sparse of grass . Its difficult to hit off of hard pan. The bunkers have only the essence of sand covering dirt. The greens are the best part of the course, Our carts sounded like they only had a day or two before they are sent to the junk yard. the cart paths could cause severe back injuries if not carful,

Come on Bent Tree just spend a little money on cart path maintenance. Back drag them with a tractor of something for goodness sakes. Its been almost two years since the hurricane and there are still piles of debris laying around the course as well and dozens of stumps still needing removed or ground down,

The back nine shows promise but its a whole lot newer then the front nine.

We will not be returning unless we see much improvement. There are to many courses in the Sarasota and Venice area that can be played for a whole lot less and in outstanding condition..

Don't waste your time or money to go to Bent Tree

Nice tree lined fairways, professional staff, very fast greens. Tee boxes and fairways were also in great shape. The course layout requires different clubs off the tee which keeps it interesting. Will play again.

I was second out by myself and it was a 2 hour and 19 minut roud. The course is good for the money. Greens are well kept, but fairways and cart paths are generally rough.

Good for price paid. Good layout and greens are good. Condition of fairways and tees mediocre
