Staff were super friendly and helpful! A great place to play a round of golf!

When the course was Big Island CC it was 5 star. Now the course conditions, amenities and staff are 2 stars at best. What a shame..

Only played half before it started to downpour. We didn't get a raincheck. Wasn't worth the money.

Had a great time at Makani, the course layout makes you think on almost every shot. Lots of blind approaches and water hazards. Pace of play was amazing, can’t wait to come back again soon! Also they have the best mascot Makani 🐈🐱

This was the first time we’ve played this course. We come to the big island every summer to escape the Phoenix heat. I found a deal on TeeOff for $72+fees. Saw the pictures and noted the island green on number 17 and what looked like beautiful views from this course that’s about 2500’ elevation. It really is a very pretty course and there are definitely some very challenging holes. Tho it rained on us for a few holes, it was pleasant overall. The biggest bugger of a hole was 18. Not knowing the course and how to play it made it even more challenging. I wish the score cards were easier to look at from the hole layout description, as the card was very small and kind of upside down. But we’ll know for next time!! Well worth the money! Oh, and we saw wild pigs, turkeys, chickens (they’ll chase you for your chips, don’t rattle the bag, goats, and a very interesting blue heron.

Some areas around the greens appeared to have been damaged by wildlife. Overall an excellent experience. Strongly recommend!!!

Many visitors are looking for the iconic oceanside hole, but this course up in the foothills had equally spectacular views. The course is extremely well designed. The ocean courses are sidelined with condos and hotels but Makani is in its own tranquil world. $65 rental club fees were a little rough but at least they were newer clubs with grips still intact.

A nice course with spectacular views. I got a golf now hot deal which allowed me to play for les than half of other public courses. This is not a Troon course, but is decently managed. It’s a challenging l course with lots of tee options to suit your length. Nobody was behind me so I got to take my time and appreciate the views. Lots of birds. Greens rolled true but were a little tricky. I found I didn’t need to take out driver too often from the whites. I played about my average. This is likely the best public golf course on the island.

Very friendly staff, great course, good shape, good rental clubs, clean car. The last two holes are tough.

Every year we go to Big Island and play this course. We played at 11 am on a Monday

It is usually 8 to 10 degrees cooler than the Kona coast so perfect weather for golf.

The course got new carts.

My husband and I had a great time.

No dining or bar area but sometimes a food truck. Beer and other beverages in a cooler where you check in.

Unfortunately rained out for most of the back 9. Doesn't happen often but it closed out the course. Great place to play . It is cooler up on the mountain. Fun course.

Staff was friendly, the course was beautiful. We ran into turkeys, pigs, chickens and goats but none of them bothered us.

This was a fun course to play. Course was in good condition, wild life was abundant, and we enjoyed playing here!

A Unique Throwback Track of Old Hawaii . Fun and Challenging especially the last three closing holes 16-18 . Good Value for the price to play ! Great Friendly Staff in the Pro Shop . Mahalo!
