Makani Golf Club

Have played at Makani many times the last two years and it’s always enjoyable.

This is the first time that we played this course and had a great time. The course is challenging but fair. The staff is very friendly. Look forward to playing it again

Had an amazing experience at Makani. Was scheduled to play following a group of 12 ‘golfers’ staff jumped me ahead to hole 2 to join a couple and played hole 1 at the end. Great design and in good condition, bring your A game challenging but fair

We liked this golf course. We were put with another couple who were also from Canada - they were really nice and we had a great round. The 17th hole is a cool island green - I'd never played one of those before and I hit the ground on my first try, but was able to get over and on with my second try! We had a lot of fun! The weather was fairly good but a bit windy towards the end of our round.

The staff were very friendly and appeared to enjoy their job. Course was in good condition and pace of play very good.

Pace of play was good. As a twosome we played 18 right at 4 hours. With a number of fairways boarded by water you were focused with hitting the ball straight (I’m a 18 index which could include one or two wayward shots). Weather may come into play if you make an afternoon t-time. On this day there was no beverage cart service so had to load up before heading to 1st Tee. Will definitely play again on our next trip to the Big Island.

Makani Wow what a great course now one of my favorites in Hawaii. .This was my first time playing this great course in the hills of the big island. It all starts with first point of contact and the starter was very friendly and helpful. The club rentals were Titleist woods and irons with a Scotty Cameron putter in good condition. The range balls were clean and descent. The course views were amazing the condition of the course was 10/10 didn’t have a bad lie from any place on the course. If your in the rough then you are going to play out if thick stuff but not so thick that it’s unfair. Water mixed with lava rock was a great challenge and not unfair. The signature 17th hole was an awesome island green par three that played just under 150 from the whites. I have played over 10 courses on the islands and Makani is in my top 3. Special shout out to the Director of Golf who gave me a ride back down the hill because I couldn’t get an Uber driver to the course so make sure you have transportation to and from the course.

The 1st 4holes were played in perfect conditions, the 5th a few drops of rain- the 6th the fog came in and the heavens started opening up and it poured until I realized there was no stopping. Had to Quinton the 8th. By the time I got back to the clubhouse the parking lot was almost empty! I tried to get a rain check, which was given to all thY paid the course. As I had gone through GolfNow I needed to contact them. I could find NO WAY TO DO THAT! Any suggestions?
