Makani Golf Club

This is a beautiful course. Lots of wildlife - birds, including chickens and wild turkeys and we were lucky enough to see a herd of goats of all sizes and colors.

Scenery is great from up there and it’s cooler weather.

Oh and plenty of interesting challenging holes. Island green on 17 and 18th green requires a shot over a large pond. Staff are friendly

Be prepared for tighter, fairways and dry conditions. Balls run out and hard to hold greens

Pace late morning easily accommodated some teaching time with a less accomplished golfer.

Excellent for higher handicap players. Hold 17 and 18 are too hard for average player

The condition of the fairways and greens was generally good. What was poor was the condition of the supporting infrastructure, such as:

- frequently poor state of areas around greens and approaches

- poor state of many cart paths, curbs, and steps

- empty or half-filled ponds, exposing the plastic liner where there is one

- wood or pipes lying around

- vegetation often overgrown

While I understand the rate is lower than the courses down on the Kohala Coast that are in a better state, the course overall seemed like it has been neglected. I don't blame the staff, but the course owner who needs to put money into it. It's unfortunate because the views are indeed great.

Greens are very good if a bit slow.

No gps, no indication. Just a little print of the course on the score card. The course itself is not bad but so many blind shots …. Must play it with somebody who knows this course

Except for a single par 3 the layout was excellent. Pace of play wasn't good, no Marshall or checks. Course fairway conditions not great but greens were fine

Driving through the front gates and seeing #17 gives you an idea of how great this course is going to be. Staff is unbelievably friendly and there to make sure you enjoy your round. Good selection of shirts, hats and ball markers for the visitor to take home as well. The course demands accuracy off the tee, so put your ego aside and play the appropriate tees to enjoy yourself. Blacks are a beast, blues were challenging and it looked like most played whites (males) and reds (ladies). Greens are grainy with some undulations but very fair. Highly recommended.

Very lovely course with great views and fun wildlife.

Although the weather was overcast and sometimes misting we truly enjoyed the course. It was not so difficult that my wife couldn’t enjoy it, but it had enough challenges to keep me on my toes!
