Municipal or unkept private course

Very sad conditions. Needs daily irrigation and some minimal maintenance. The hundred dollar golf fee is twice the locals rate. Course badly rundown wouldn’t have played this dried out course for the locals rate. No clubhouse facilities or cartbeverage sandwich service. Course was maybe once a good course as the Big Island Golf Club but is in shambles now.

A good course but a little over rated. We only got 13 holes and it started to rain. The office was a hut with little amenities, and there is nothing for food or drink except at the office. No off course amenities to wait out the rain, which did not end. No rain check.

Fun but challenging course

We've played Makani many times (back when it was Big Island Country Club) and enjoy it every time. The course is challenging but not too hard so golfers of all levels can have a fun round of golf. A definite do when on the Island.

Great layout , poor conditions

Punched greens AND fairways!

We played on a day when they had just punched the greens AND the fairways. Should we not have been advised of this??? This made an already (what appears to be) struggling course a major disappointment and waste of money.

This was a very fun course to play. It has a lot of cool, well designed holes. I especially liked the par 3 17th hole. The greens were a little on the slow side but they rolled very well, without being bumpy and therefore were fun to putt on.

Nice course

Course amenities have not changed since I last visited… no cart person today .It has the feel of a muni course serving the local golf community and the need for small restaurant with food and beverage service is probably not in demand. But…it would have been nice to chill with a beer and burger after…..

I liked the course as a casual stress free day of golf .
