Great course at a fair price
Fairways are in great shape for Feb. and the greens are fast..
Great coirse
Love playing here. The 160 mile round trip, is worth it. Course is always in great shape, greens always putt true, and layout is challenging, but fun. We battled wind all day, and still had a wonderful round; finished in 3.5 hours.
Disappointed
We booked a 12:26 tee time, a week in advance, plenty of other tee times available. When we checked in we were told it was a shotgun start. Mentioned we had a tee time and not part of the group gathering for shotgun start. We were put on hole #1 to start and were told to just wait there for someone to take us out to hole since it quite a distance from clubhouse. All other carts pulled away and we had to ask several times who would be taking us to hole. When we got to the tee we were the one of four groups on that tee. We had to wait on every shot. Sometimes 3 groups on the time together so extremely long slow round. They were playing a best ball outing. The group in front and back kept asking why they didn’t put us on the other course.
The positive is the course is nice. Tee boxes perfect condition, fairways nice and not cut to tight so easy to hit off. The rough wasn’t bad either. The greens are in good shape just a bit slow, slower than practice green. But the greens held well, I had missed my share of greens but was able to chip close. We all scored well despite the long day of constantly waiting.

Very nice place to play
We have played all over Florida and the greens at Deer Run are as good as any. Nice decent course in middle of state, Only drawback was very slow pace of play.

The cart needed to come around more often. One time in 18 holes is not enough and seen her on hole 16.

Quick greens
The bite of course is it's greens. Fairways are fast too. Great course and alot of fun

Good bmvalue
The Deer is a good test of golf. Several very challenging holes that requires you to put your drive in a position to go at the flag.

Worth the drive
My buddy and I, play here on occasion. We take turns driving, as it's about an 160 mile round trip from Englewood. The course is always in great shape and the layout is challenging, yet not extremely difficult. This time, we had a threesome ahead of us, that was a little slow yet, we still finished about 5 minutes under 4 hours. We both love playing both Sun N Lakes courses, and have a difficult time trying to choose which one is better. So, the long drive is definitely worth it.

WORTH IT!!!
Golfed with a few buddy’s early Saturday morning. Employee in the pro shop was very friendly and helpful. Fairways were in great shape. What i enjoyed most about Deer Run is all the greens are challenging which made things interesting at the end of every hole. Well worth the price and I’m looking forward to going back.

Really fun course
Try to play both courses 3-4 times each year. Not super challenging courses but always in great condition.
