Shalimar Pointe Golf Club
About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Just ok
Some holes had a nice layout, but...
Fairways...so so
Roughs... pretty bad. Some look like they haven't been cut for 2 months.
Greens... Needed to be cut and rolled. Plus, a number of bad spots
Surprisingly Good Golf Course
All in All this is a "MUST PLAY" golf course! I am ready to play it again now that I know where to be and not to be...IF the course super would JUST CUT THE ROUGH to atleast allow the player to simply FIND their ball would be THE ONLY bad comment I have for Shalimar Pointe! The rough is higher than ANY course I have ever played, it UNPLAYABLE GUYS! I play on the VGA Tour and can tell you, I've NEVER seen rough this deep.IF the rough was playable, this would be THE "go to course to play! The staff are extremely friendly and accomadating, 10 STARS for everything at Shalimar Pointe EXCEPT THE ROUGH!!
Good friendly staff. The rough areas are Apache with poor growth. Balls are sometimes hard to find because of the type of grass utilize. Overall if you hit consistent on the fairways it's a decent course for the price.
Hot Labor Day round
We played late afternoon on labor day
We had to start on 10 due to an extremely loud obnoxious 5 some in front of us
We waited 20 mins and they still weren’t out of range
The temperature was very hot but the course is in good shape
My only complaint is that there are several areas just off the fairway that the grass was mowed and made finding a ball difficult at best
Very frustrating to hit a decent shot and can’t find the ball because it wasn’t mowed
Lastly I caught a good price but not worth regular prices
I’d play here more if the made their prices more similar to local area not Destin
Great course layout
A very fun, challenging course. Conditions are great.
Summer Heat
Yes it’s hot, but the course is green and plush. It’s well watered and maintained. Rough is a bit thick, sometimes it’s hard to find your ball but easy to find another golfers ball, (LOL).
Could and should be better
Greens were in rough shape
Parts of fairway were like concrete and other parts were perfect. Just an ok course because of condition. Golf now hot deal is worth it
Great course greens and fairways
The grass around the first cuts and along the fairways should be mowed at least another inch or so. It’s terrible to hit a ball and it is buried so deep it takes too long to find unless you stepped on it. Cut the roughs a bit lower!
Very friendly folks
Course was in fair shape. Greens were slow and bumpy, rough was high enough to lose a ball just off the green, but overall OK.
Staff and members were super friendly and fun. They let me join the game they play several times a week. Had a blast with them.
Excellent course
The course is in excellent condition. Try to stay out of the rough, it may take a while to find your ball, if you can find it. The greens are very good, starting to show the grain now in the Tiff-Eagle Bermuda.
August Heat
Extremely hot this time of year. Most courses tend not to cut the rough, so keep your ball in the fairway. It may take a while to find your ball. We've gone about two weeks now with no rain, but the course is still green. They are keeping the course watered. There was some fertilizer on the greens which made for a few bumps with the ball. However, it should be gone within a few days of watering.
Needs Investment in Upkeep
Struggling to accomplish basic maintenance tasks. The greens were very rough with a lot of dead spots, too furry in others. Off areas were unmoved for what appears to be weeks. Lots of bare patches from poor grading and drainage. Driving range was on mats and irons only. Staff and shop were good. Inexpensive and open play but you get what you pay for here. It is unfortunate because there were some improvements in the past 20 months made to the course but has devolved rapidly from just this Spring.
Ridiculous Rough
We enjoy this track but DO NOT enjoy the lack of proper course maintenance.
The last several rounds we have encountered grass heights in excess of two feet less than 15 paces from the 150 yard marker!! ABSURD and frustrating, not to mention slowing the pace of play. I hope they will address this soon!!
Nice change
Fairways and greens are in great condition. We teed off at 8 and saw very few golfers. No waiting! Enjoyed starting on 10….maybe new course layout??
This course has potential…
The greens were woolly and slow. The fairways were a little long in areas as well. This course just needs a little more maintenance and I think it has the potential to be really nice.
