About
Located along the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay, Shalimar Pointe Golf Club enjoys a scenic, rolling landscape dotted with trees. This often-overlooked golf course has been considered one of the Emerald Coast's best-kept secrets but the word is beginning to get out. The course, due to its challenging but playable nature, has been used for U.S. Open qualifiers and it was host to the Emerald Coast Tour. The layout features immaculately manicured greens that are framed by strategic bunkering and water hazards on a number of holes. The golf course is challenging but fair with five sets of tees to accommodate players of all skill levels. The course is Shalimar Pointe's main attraction but it is complemented by extensive practice facilities including an expansive driving range, putting green and chipping green.

Shalimar for Beginners
Found a great rate to play with some friends for the day. It was great. The staff is nice and very helpful, the course (January in Florida) was fairly dry, cool, and breezy. We found the sand traps to be challenging but not discouraging. Our group consisted of both advanced and novice players. We especially enjoyed the variety of par 4’s to test our abilities. Would definitely recommend this course for a fun day out, just be aware of the homes located on the course.
I would not return
Three big issues:
1- No fairway markers
2- No distance GPS
3- Old style gas golf carts

Nice layout.
It was January and 40 degrees! Very fast and firm due to the time of year. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Hope to play it when it’s warm and the grass is green and growing.
I really like this course
Had not played this course for a while, but glad I came back again. One of the best designs in Destin area. Tees could be improved upon, but the bunkers, greens and well shaped and mounded fairways make it a fun and challenging course to play. And with the lower than average greens fees, its a bargain. Will most definitely be back.
Staff was very helpful. The greens were in pretty good condition but the pin placements were in tough spots. The fairways were dormant with a lot of tight lies. Bunkers were in good shape. I will be back.
Winter has been ruff
Guess we caught women’s day because we waited forever on each hole. Walkers allowed and slow down things

Shalimar
This is the first time playing here. We enjoyed the course and pace as it wasn’t very busy. Staff when we registered were very friendly and helpful.
The only negative would be when we returned our carts. As we hadn’t ever been here before, we ended up at the backside of the building where there was a hose and parked behind a line of a few other carts. A kid literally ran over, glared, and I mean glared at us and jumped into the first cart, tore across the grass to where we were supposed to return them. He never said a word to us, I.e. over there, not here! Nothing. Just the nastiest look. If looks could kill, we’d be dead! I get it, we were in the wrong place. I see no need for such nastiness. We would have gladly moved them to the proper drop off if he would have told us.
Always a pleasure
Really enjoyed the course. I apologize for being so hard on the staff the day after Thanksgiving. Should have known better. The course and staff are always a delight and courteous. Will definitely play there again.
Great layout just not in great condition
This could be one of the best courses in the area. The layout is great and even tricked me into losing a ball in the water on #3. If I could improve one thing it would be the greens, they seemed to be burned out or something? Overall it was my first time playing here and I will most likely play here again.

Nice course for medium level golfers
Fun course. Great Price. Challenging but not too bad.
It's been a long time
It has been a year since I played. Found the course in need of better maintenance. I do understand they lost their pumps during Hurricane Sally.
The speed of play on the first 9 holes was not good. There should have been a marshall on the course. The starter doing both roles is not sufficient, especially the day after Thanksgiving.
The grill staff was great except they closed at 2pm so no 19th hole.
The check in desk and starter were friendly and courteous.
