Oak hill
Played this course before , fairways rough and tee boxes. Greens fairly good shape today better than normal, good place to practice if you just want to play.
empty course
The pace of play was excellent as we were pretty much the only people there. The parking lot and drive way are filled with pot holes which set the stage for a golf course that lacks care. The fairways were bare and where there was grass it was brown. We were greeted by a coyote sleeping at the first tee. Our cart had no parking brake. We had a nice enough day here mostly because we had the place to ourselves. We have played here before. We come here usually on a whim at the last minute when we want to get out and hit a few balls One thing we don't like is there are always people walking their dogs off leash on this course. It seems that they don't how dangerous this can be for themselves and their pets
Time hasn't been kind to this gem.
I've played this course for years, when I'm in Florida. This course used to be a hidden gem that has always been fun with a sporty design. Unfortunately, like many courses, change of ownership, management and financial issues have caused the course conditions to suffer. Even though the course is in rougher conditions, it's still my favorite go-to spot for a quick practice round at a very reasonable price.
Thin fairways
Great sand traps and decent greens but the fairways were substandard.
Needs a lot of money and TLC
The layout was excellent. They need to water the fairways and reseed them after grading them. They are working on the greens so most of them are pretty good. The tee boxes need water as well. The cart paths need regrading and paving. More than one tee needs to be rated for women. So jostled due to the bumpy terrain that am still sore 2 days later!
Trash
Course is trash. Greens in terrible condition, weeds knee high in spots on the green. Fairway and rough is absolute garbage with weeds everywhere. Do not waste your time or money. Worst course in the county. Pace of play was great because no one else was on this dog track.
Greens are terrible, bugs. Cart paths are full potholes, back and nut breaker! Spend some money on maintenance!
Tell yourself it’s what early golf must have been like.
I hadn’t played Oak Hills in about a year, because I’d given up on it due to, well, it lacking everything a golf course is supposed to represent.. Grass, for one. Green, living grass of some consistent type, covering the playing area. I’ll stop for a moment to say that it’s genuinely sad to see a course that clearly, once upon a time, had some good thought put into layout, and seeing that potential only makes it more frustrating to play the course in its present state of decay. There are some holes, especially on the back nine, that, if covered with grass instead of field weeds, and terminating in an actual, maintained green instead of sand mixed with patches of dying grass, would really be visually attractive and enjoyable to play.
However, the current ownership appears to be letting nature reclaim the course. There wasn’t a single intact green; all have sand patches, and the remnant grass looks as if it’s browning nicely as desertification sets in. Is there no water left in Spring Hill? No grass seed? Seriously, if advertising as a golf course, there should be the ordinary features of a golf course, beyond a cup with a flagstick.
I could recount the issues noted by other reviewers; bring a kidney belt, because the cart paths are rubble and the fairways have the quality and texture of a farm field. And bring plenty of water; two water jugs on the entire course. But, chances are you won’t be out there too long, because not many folks will be joining you.
I tried to tell myself that the experience was interesting, like going back in time to golf in the days before mechanical lawnmowers and such. It helped. So sad.
Worst shape I've ever seen.
I played here about 5 years ago and it was in bad shape, and it's gotten worse. Tees had so little grass that I lost my footing multiple times. Greens are atrocious and at least 15 of them had major issues (see attached picture). The front 9 is easily the worst consecutive 9 holes holes I have ever seen. No maintenance, very little grass in the fairways, and you can tell where the fairway stops and the rough starts. Cart paths are falling apart so be prepared for a bumpy ride. A cow pasture is more consistent with the level of grass. There are no rangers so expect a long day. Pro shop gentleman was very pleasant. I hope someone buys this place and fixes it. Worst course I have played in my entire life.
I've never said this before about any golf course, but I don't think I would play it again even if it was free.
We had a awesome time and very peaceful and relaxing
Oh Dear!!!
Well, i first played this course 10 years ago. And it wasn't that good then, but i thought what with the hurricane coming and all the courses closing in Orlando & Kissimmee i'd give it a go.
Never again will i play this course!! Tee boxes were long, the greens had just been top dressed but also in poor condition. It was like putting on a beach.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I PLAY THIS COURSE. It either wants a ton of money spending on it or it needs to close!!
Worst ever
I’ve been playing golf for 50 years. I’ve played some PGA quality courses and on the other end of the spectrum some real dog tracks. Oakhills has to be the worst I’ve ever played. The greens are unspeakably poor, the fairways are, what fairways there’s nothing but sand and dirt. No matter the price it’s overpriced. And the truly sad thing is that it’s located on a very nice piece of property with great potential. I see it has a rating of three stars. How I can’t imagine the only thing that I can say is that the pace of play is fast because there’s no one there. Fool me once shame on you, full me twice shame on me. I can’t imagine me ever going back.
Worst Course I have played on in years
To start off the club house is not the one you see in the website photo … it's a trailer … then while on their burnt out dry driving range it was hard just to find a grassy spot to hit off of.... turns out the course was in the same condition … tee boxes were terrible and weedy and same way for 90 % of fairways.. greens also were burnt out in a lot of places … as for friendliness while on the driving range a customer making the turn must have complained as the conversation carried outside of their trailer club house and the guy in charge was cursing at the customer to get going or I through you out of here
I would never go back and play this course... I had spent $38 for me and my son to play it … after seeing the conditions of this course I wouldn't play it for $5 …
As for pace of play... there were hardly any golfers playing so it was a good pace
Terrible course
The course was in terrible shape, no fairway grass, non existent greens. It needs a total remake, wasn’t even worth the $7 hot deal
Worst golf course ever there is no way they should be allowed to charge for this. Totally my fault I should have read the reviews. No fairways greens terrible old noisey carts
Sand Base - Country Course
Very friendly staff. Course conditions are rough. Greens have many bare spots, and fairways have minimal turf to play from. Folks are friendly and the layout is fun and fair.
AWFUL!!!!
This was the worst golf course I have ever played and I have golfed for over 40 years. The course is no better than a cow pasture. You could hardly hit a club in the fairway with no grass! The staff was not helpful and the club house was dirty. The course should have paid us to golf there, not us pay for it. I would highly recommend that you remove it from your referrals.
