Swenson Park Golf Course - The Oak Course

I had a really good time playing at this course. I look forward to return to this course. this is all i have to say.

I have golfed swenson for the last 40 years. I have never seen the greens this perfect. The only issue was the ball marks that jerks didnt fix. The fairways were ok and tee boxes are a little scruffy. The course was generally well maintained. The staff and cafe folks were friendly. Overall great shape for the middle of a drought.

This course is great if you want to get out of the house, and no go to far. Minus the ground squirrel holes, this course is well maintained for a muni course. I will be returning.

I love Swensons GC....this one Saturday there were no carts available because 10 were down and they had a match play tournament . I didn't even play as it was 11:30 and no sign of getting out with a cart..our tee time was 11:08am. I left and went to Van Buskirk to play and ate my online fees to Golf Now. First time that's ever happened but a big dissapointment.
Staff was excellent...they knew they'd run late and gave us a small obucket on the house.. I did over hear that it took 1-1/2 hrs to play 3 holes..another reason why we left. I'll be back tho

Solid average course with a lot of narrow fairways as they are tree lined. Some pretty long holes as well. Played as a twosome and were done in 3 hours on a Sunday. Great value for the money.

Since 1975 I have played this coarse of and on since I was in high school across the street. I have played some nice private cc's but still enjoy playing this coarse from time to time. It has a few holes that are fun to play with big old oak trees. See a fox or two!

We are in a drought so relax and keep it in the fairway! The greens are nice.

The course is really starting to shape up. Greens just punched a week ago but it was still very puttable

An excellent public course for your typical hacker...

This course is insanely long. Open and welcoming with some interesting twists. I'll be back

I played oct 5. Booked on GolfNow. There were no alerts on GolfNow. Arrived to play. Was told that " a couple of tee boxes were under repair so the tees were moved up." As it turned out, ALL tee boxes were under repair and thus everything was either moved up to the ladies tees, and sometimes even to an arbitrary, undefined location on the fairway.
No mention was made of the greens, but clearly they were aerated not to long ago. Putting on the green was like putting on an obstacle course. I was not satisfied. And also, the course was a little too brown for my liking, but thats expected with the drought.

Since I'm local, I've played this course over and over. My friends and I know what to expect for at this public course. The hundreds of squirrels is a known issue here, but this last time we experience another known draw back to Swenson which is poor customer service. After checking in and telling her we were ready, the starter made our riding foursome wait to tee off (aprox. 15 min. while no one teed off) so a walking two-some with a riding two-some could go off first. We pushed them the whole front nine. They finally caught a walking two-some who wisely let them pass then two holes later let us pass. No sign of a marshal ever on this course.

Beautiful old course with mature piñon pine and oak groves throughout. Greens in great condition except one. The ground squirrels own this place. This course definitely needs help from Carl the groundskeeper. Maybe a paved cart path would save us from the bone jarring ride through gopher craters?? Great value for the price, and pace of play was good for the weekend. My round took 2hr 45minutes.

The greens was in good condition, some fairways was little thin of grass and dry. Overall the course was good for a city muni course.

Fun course. Great value for the money. Bunkers and bathrooms need improvement.

Weather was great, course in great shape , had a blast like always.

Swenson is a tree lined course which is fairly flat and doesn't have a lot of water or sand traps -but you must stay out of the trees if you are going to score well. Swenson has recently redone their tee boxes with 4 sets of rated tees. This makes the course much friendlier for a senior man or for a woman golfer-so you can play it forward and have more fun. There is also a resident red fox that you might see on the course.

I have golfed a number of times here. it is my go to last minute place to golf if I find I have a few hours open. The golf pro, staff is always friendly. I am a recreational golfer, and enjoy the course because it is forgiving as it has wide fairways. I enjoy the fact that the pace it good, carts are great and it is just fun. Old growth trees will cause you a few challenges, the greens have been from fast to slow depending of time of year and it is well maintained. Go and have fun. If you just learning or a seasoned pro-... Enjoy

The only problem is that they aren't pairing up people at tee box letting twosome singles go off instead of pairing other than that great course.

The rough has a lot of gopher holes that can swallow up your ball even though it was a decent shot . I had a few good drives that just rolled off the fairway and couldn't find the ball.. Greens are perfect condition without being to fast.. Good time overall.

it was ok.the greens were recently sanded.fairways are wide open.
