The Reserve at Spanos Park

Had a 11:30 T-time, checked in at about 11 and proceeded to purchase a hot dog & 2 bags of Vickie’s chips. The server was rude & as she asked me my order she proceeded to ask a customer next to me being very childish asking the cook to keep his half eaten pancakes in the refrigerator until tomorrow, which had nothin to do with me but he came right up to the counter at my left side. She asked him by his name do you want anything else with your hot dog? I asked her why are you looking and speaking to him about the hot dog when I ordered it. She made some comment about his wallet & I said well my wallet is just as big as his and she walked back into the kitchen with the hot dog & placed it in front of the man on my left & he stated I didn’t order a hot dog. I reached over and placed it in front of me and asked her about her behavior & she made some comment that was somewhat of personal nation sexually and in told her that has nothing to do with me & you knew I ordered the hot dog. She chuckled while at the register & stated “well you are standing there with this smirky look & slight smile that says don’t mess with me”! And anyway I am not really on duty right now. But she rang up my hot dog & chips and stated several times after I am just playing. Well the optics wasn’t good along with her very unprofessional behavior and rude moment towards me as a customer,. Me being a American of African ancestry and her placing my food purposely thinking it was funny in front of a person of Caucasian descent & her own. Beautiful golf course & I always enjoy playing it when I get the chance to do so, but that employee behavior doesn’t represent well & reflects not on the check in staff or the golf course. Professional conduct & treatment of all peoples ,nationalities & languages should always be respected.

Really fun course with 1 handicap on second hole. Staff is great, course is a challenge with water hazards on a lot of holes. Nice grass range. Food is really good. I drive an hour to play it at least twice a month!

I absolutely love playing The Reserve at Spanos Park. It is one of my favorite courses. The course is challenging in itself, but even more so when it is windy. The conditions when I played were EXCELLENT. The only problem is that we were placed behind a slow moving tournament with players that had never played the course before. Their speed of play, due to decisions they were making, putting out every ball, and not play "ready golf", slowed everything down to a snail's pace. It made it so that there was little tempo to the round that we were playing. While difficult to deal with, it does not change my thoughts about The Reserve, and I would play there again in a heartbeat!

It would be an excellent rating but unfortunately winter is approaching and caught us off guard. The wind really affects this coarse especially when you’re playing form the back tee boxes
