Sneaky Trees
This is a fun and challenging course. The course has very little water hazards and very few bunkers really come into play. So, what makes this course interesting to play. First, almost all fairways are solidly lined with very tall mature trees. Absolute accuracy is required off the tee and is the key to shooting a low score. Wayward shots off the tee on either side of the fairway will end up into the trees; punching back out onto the fairway is the safest play if not the only play. The greens appear to be level, but many have little ridges that promote misdirection. My only complaint is the restaurant closes at 4PM which, in my opinion, is too early since the noon golfers are just coming off the course approximately 4:15PM.
this course is great for the price
This course has a nice lay out along with a decent 9 hole par 3 course.
Well maintained and great prices
This course is very well maintained. It's a long course for ladies, playing 6037 yards from the red tees which makes it challenging. Most holes are fairly straight so you just have to hit long.
The course has great greens, well maintained
A bit bumpy on the out skirts of the fairway, too many squirrel holes.
Great rate/pace of play
Enjoyed playing Swenson Park. It was the first time I have played it and the conditions were good and the pace of play was great. It appeared to be mostly twosomes on the course which was a little strange but there was virtually no waiting to hit each shot. I went on as a single and was partnered with a great young guy named Robert and we had a good time. If we had to wait to hit a shot it was only for a minute and we played the round (on a Friday afternoon) in slightly less than 4 hours. Some of the areas off of the fairway are pretty dry and the ball really took off on them but otherwise no complaints about the course. The lady in the Pro Shop was super friendly. Would play again.
Good not great
I saw this had a 4 rating and was hopeful since it was my first time there. It was good, but not better than other courses in the area like Micke Grove, Manteca, or La Contenta. I would play here again but only on a good deal.
great day
The fairways are near perfect and lush with green. Loved the green but had just been watered so a bit slow in spots. Cart was clean and comfortable. Will play there again soon.
fun course to play.
I play at this course about two times a month and it's a lot of fun, but the squirrels and the geese are making the greens and fairways a big problem, the geese with their droppings and the squirrels with holes all over.
Great value and well-maintained
This is my first time playing this course. For $30 with a cart on a weekend for 18 holes, you can't beat that price. That's just for starters. The course is well designed. Unlike other courses where par 3s are short, par 4s are moderately long, and par 5s are really long, this course, is quite the opposite: each hole is moderately long. Factor in the tree-lined fairwways and tons of squirrel holes and you got yourself a challenge. The course is well-maintained from the tee box to the green. I did not find a wet or dry spot along the way. I finished my round in just over 4 hours and i think that is an excellent pace. The course is flat and very much walkable, which can bring down the green fees even more. The course is easily accesible from the freeway. i had fun at this course and I highly recommend it.
Overall great play for the price.
I enjoy the long par 4's and suddle par 3's. The par 5's are challenging enough to par, but if your second shot is long enough your putting for eagle! We all know that pace of play is determined by those in front of you, so i cannot say its fast or slow. We were out of the parking lot in 4 1/2 hours from the time we teed off.! Not bad!
Sand traps need work, they were very hard sand and hard to play.
Very nice and good value except for the sand traps.
Last minute reservaton was a good one.
I played alone on a beautiful day in February. I enjoyed the chance to play at my own pace and hit extra balls when I wanted. This is a fun course. I also thought it was a good value.
Good Value / Tough Course
We got a good deal through GolfNow for a 10:30 Tee Time on a Saturday. The course is in good shape for early March and not too busy, but many of the Par 4's / Par 3's are long and reduces the enjoyment of the round. Generally hit a driver 230-250 and still hitting long/mid irons into the greens.
long par threes, fours. lot's of trees
always enjoy palying Swenson! For the last 35 years, it is always a treat to step back in time.
Sliders did'nt work on the review chart
I like this course because they keep the rough cut and it's wide open to miss hits. Greens are always smooth. Took four hours to play, but that's slow due to the fact people were still off work and school due to the New Years Holiday week. I normally have two greens open in front of me.
Nice course but to many walkers
Swenson is a very nice public course. Only thing they have way to many walkers. Its fine to have walkers but they let singles go and they dont pair them up or even a rider. Other then that the course is nice. Snack bar is good also.
Good course..great value!!
Got a saturday morning tee time for my foursome for $25 each. Course was in good condition even with rain the two days before. Staff was friendly and will be back soon.
Very good layout.
Fairways can be a bit bare, but this is a good track for a muni.
Decent course, friendly staff.
The course condition has improved significantly over the past couple of years. The fairways are green and the greens weren't bumpy like some moderately priced public courses. The slope number is low and it is generally open and flat, but I shoot my worst scores here, so beware. Also, if you're a short hitter, try the adjacent par 3 course.
