Interesting and quirky - slow greens
The layout is quirky in that the routing weaves in an out and is fitted into the rolling hills. There are numerous dog-legs that require less than driver and a rangefinder (if you are not intimately familiar with the course) to place your tee shot. Off-line approach shots can hit into the next tee box. Finally, we have not had an appreciable rain in 2 weeks, so the greens have been allowed to grow long - thus, the speed is slow compared to other courses in the area. They could be rolled to allow faster speed, but that only lasts so long through the day.
the experience on the course
to start off the cart paths are horrible. Super bumpy, many potholes and just need new pavement. course layout is pretty good, the greens are in good shape, the fairways are in decent condition lot of hard dirt in certain spots though. wouldn’t recommend the course for a friend but at the same time it’s not all that bad
Todd
The course was in good shape for February. There was not much wait time.
Great winter golf
This course doesn’t disappoint again. While the zoysia is still brown is allows the ball to stay off the deck, but don’t wander into the rough.. greens were in good shape for February. Wish there were a few more straight holes; dog legs win the day.
Winter ball
Had a great time on our second round at Warrenton GC. My wife and I ended up playing with a gentleman who was actually scheduled to tee off behind us. Had a great time and made a new golf buddy. Any time we can get out in late January is always a bonus. Zoysia is still dormant, and the fairways a little wet.but the greens held the ball, but weren’t too slow to putt. We will definitely be back again.
GreAt Value
Sometimes waited for four groups to tee off on one hall. Overall the course was in pretty good shape, the greens were good and everything went smooth except we just had way too many golfers on the course.
Value
Have not played this course in 20 years. Was great value for the money. Played with two new to golf golfers and it was a great day. No one pushed and the pace of play was great.
Will definitely be back
