Good course for the price!

Challenging course; a couple of blind holes, several elevated holes, and a little bit of water, but nothing that is overwhelming! I’m from Dallas and I’ve played on about 15 courses in the Meteoplex......this was my first time golfing in Georgia and for the “Hot Deal” price - it was a good course!! It sits under a power line grid so you will have to block out the subtle buzzzzz of electricity flowing above you, but even with that it was a good course to play!

Decent course to work on irons

Some holes are in beautiful condition, others need some TLC. Greens are ok, tee boxes on some are in good shape, not so much in the others. The sand bunkers are in poor condition, some are overgrown with weeds and grass, the ones that aren’t are very packed sand, making it almost impossible to play from it. The landscape is great with rolling hills and elevation changes on plenty of holes. Don’t overpay for the course, get a hot deal on it. The club house is in terrible shape, I doubt the bathrooms have ever been cleaned at all.

Cool layout for the holes. Some bad execution

A few of these holes are really cool layouts. The first few holes are really cool and have a links feel. 17 is a great hole. The issue is that there are a few holes that were really bad. There was a 200-yard hole where you couldn't see the green. This hole also lacked tee box grass and the green was covered in leaves. Another hole had us hitting off a mat as a teebox. These are the kinds of things that can take the fun out of a round. The greens, for the most part, rolled true. The cups were strange and varied in size. It's probably worth 20-25 bucks. Not the $38 that we paid.

Appropriate name

This is a really unique course....some holes are routed under power line towers, and others on top of the old landfill are like a links course. Overall, every hole is unique with the exception of 9 and 18 which are exactly the same length and look. Number 8 is very tough form the back tee; 200 yds with lots of trouble for a crooked shot.

Greens are perfect.

Getting Better

Didn't particularly enjoy this course the first time I played it several years ago, but it was perfectly enjoyable today for a short course. We paid about $25 for the round and for the most part, very comfortable round. It had an acceptable variety of holes considering their geographical limitations underneath power lines.

Starts with a par 4 on the side of a fairly steep hill, funneling drives hit to the left back to the hole. Hole #2 was closed for maintenance, it appeared they were doing some sod work in the fairway close to the pond. Hole 3 is a short par three pitch over a pond, and hole 4 features a significant elevation drop, which I always enjoy. Hole 5 has drop-off trouble along the entire right side, but is more forgiving left. Hole 6 is the courses' only par 5, running alongside a couple of par 4's.

Hole 7 is a fairly straight-forward par 3 with safe space all around the green. Hole 8 is the tightest hole I think I've ever played - thick trees all along the right and a steep hill on the left make it seem like you're hitting through a tunnel and makes it the toughest par 3 on the course. Once you're done with that though, hole 9 is a nice hole to catch your breath.

Hole 10 is more forgiving left than right, with power lines humming directly above you for ambient noise. Hole 11 is a fun hole, with a measured tee shot coming out of the woods before dog-legging left to the green of the par 4. Would be even more fun if there was a tee box, your choices here are teeing up in dirt or thick weeds. Hole 12's shot is over a decent gulley to a green with trouble right. A hill on the left will take your ball back to the green.

Hole 13 is the shortest hole on the course, and possibly the shortest I've played. The scorecard says 95 but that seemed long. This hole was in the best condition of the course, slick tee box, well maintained approach and quick green. Hole 14 is a longer and mirror image of 12, with a small hill on the right helping errant shots to the green, and big trouble left.

Holes 15 is a short par 4 with a tricky green. Sitting on the highest point of the course, the green slopes front to back, making sticking approach shots tough, play to the front of the green. Hole 16 in another par 4 coming back the other way, with trouble left off the tee. The course closes with back to back simple par 3's.

The layout can be a bit confusing, and if you're not paying attention you can lose the flow of the course. We ran into a twosome that jumped from 6 to 14, but that seemed to be user error as there is signage directing between the two. Overall the course was in decent condition. Couple of fairway bare spots, and the tee boxes on 8 & 11 were atrocious. But overall for the price we paid, and with proper expectations, it was an enjoyable round.

Wish I would have realized it was a Par 61 course.

I don’t know why there are so many par 3 courses around here. The course was tough for as short as it was, and the price is just like a standard Par 72 course. For the price I wouldn’t go back.

Won't Go Back

I played on Monday morning and the course was fairly wide open. The course condition was awful. Drainage was obviously poor with significant areas of casual water. There were significant large both wet and dried muddy patches both along and within the fairways. fairway grass was absent in multiple places, weeds abounded. Large areas where cart tire tracks were laid throughout the fairways with no regard for course etiquette. The greens were often with piles of sand or divots that were never replaced. Green conditions were inconsistent at best. Finally, half way through the round, there were people continually yelling and screaming playing foot golf (with soccer balls) on the fairways. Seriously?!! Won't go back.

Nice layout

Fun layout, much better than playing a par 3 course since you can break out the driver a couple of holes. Pace of play was terrible, which is to be expected on one of the first nice days of the year.

However, there were no marshalls until we reached 15 at which time the group that was holding everyone up had just given up and left the course. A five hour round at a place that boasts 3 hours even on the weekend is just about as bad as it gets. Could be stuck in worse places though! I will be back, but I will be much more vocal about the pace next time.
