I will never play here again.
Legitimately had 32 people in line to tee off from the time I got there 11:45 (tee time 11:50) to the time I actually teed off at 12:24. Now this is both in front of me and people waiting behind me to tee off but that’s absolutely ridiculous. The amount of money that they charge, which to begin with is fairly steep considering the par, layout, and amenities, but alas I wanted to golf. Then they STACK tee times so they are just rolling in the money at this point. In the almost 45 mins I was on the first tee with 32 players at on average $40 pp is almost $1300. In 45 mins! not counting the people on the range. My point to all of this is that there were more tee boxes than not that were just literal patches of dirt than there were with grass, and at least 2 were mats (can only speak to the tees I was playing) The greens are atrocious—one of them was honestly not even playable. So where is all of this money going? I understand costs but it’s literally a golf course. Maintaining some sort of resemblance to a golf course would be nice.
But who knows this is just my perspective. I won’t be returning which is a choice I get to make—thank goodness. Play well and remember you’re not on the tour, so move the ball off of that tree branch, and who cares if you hit it in the water. Have fun, play fast, and respect the course and its people.
Very iffy
Decent value I guess - there’s some really nice holes and then some holes that need to be completely re-done. There’s around 4-5 par 3s that are all the same exact distance. About 100-120 yards…I thought that was really interesting you could pay a lot less and get a better par 3 course if you were wanting to do that - we waited about 30 minutes to tee off and the ranger did absolutely nothing and didn’t even look at me when I was talking to him. Greens is real rough shape but it’s not the worst at all. Cool course but very poorly managed.
Very mid
Overall the price isn’t horrible compared to other courses. Pace of play is usually pretty good unless you have kids in front of you that have to walk. The greens are the worst greens I have ever played. Each green plays completely different. They all have random patches of grass that screw up the greens. The range is pretty top notch. Very friendly people and staff.
One of the kids that work there (Isaac) has an attitude every single time wether that’s over the phone or in person. He should be fired or put in a position that doesn’t have him talking to people…. Other than that great staff.
Overall not the best course but for 30-40 bucks screw it.
Embarassing
I’ve been playing here for a few years and decided to bring my wife to play here for the first time this year. The conditions on the course were terrible. Most greens were poorly kept, tee boxes were trashed, and the price felt like a rip off for what we paid,
Dog track
Absolute dog track. For $55 there are so many better courses in metro Atl. Would not recommend. They wanted me to pay a green fee and cart fee to let my wife ride with me while I played. Starter did not want me to start at me assigned 1:30 tee time because I was a solo and he wanted to pair me with the 1:50 group. Cannot recommend this place other than the range
Golf course’s correct name
Played through Golf Now at Steel Canyon and the golf now invite is using the wrong very old name of Blue Heron instead of Steel Canyon. Golf now ought to fix that very very old name.
Need water. Mostly dead course. Could be an awesome little track with the right care.
Terrible course
Course in terrible shape, dried out, hard greens, dried out fairways. There were divots on the greens like actually wedge divots a foot away from the cup. Have played the course before when it was actually a good course. Pace of play was 4.5 hours for a par 61 course. Marshall tried to get me to tee off 45 mins prior to my time and literally found me in the parking lot to get me my group was waiting on me, while I was putting my shoes on. When in fact I had 45 mins till my tee time. Then to only tell me on the tee box that he accepted tips also. Terrible
Horrible!!!!
Played today and the course was really bad. I played here about 3 months ago and told myself that I wouldn’t come back. I saw that they increase their price so I thought “Cool, they are putting the money back in the course.” Wrong! Greens were horrible. They were dried up and had weeds growing on it. Tee box was hard as a rock where tee’s wouldn’t even go in. Sad to say, this course is close by my house and wish that they would actually take care of it.
short and fast
i like the course because it doesn't take a lot of time to play, tee times always seem to available at a time that i good for me. greens and tee boxes need some work,
I love the staff...always positive and very friendly
