Timberlakes Golf Clinton NC
Great course with friendly staff. Some fairways are wide open while others are narrow with high to low terrain. I frequently play there.
Course in bad shape!
Timberlake has always been a fun place to meet friends from Raleigh and play. This time fairways were bare, and greens very slow and inconsistent. In addition, many of the greens had large bare spots as well.
it's ok. Could use some improvements
Many of the greens are in rough shape and fairways are like hitting of hard dirt.
Getting Better
New hole markers. Fairways in decent shape. Some greens appear to be suffering from a mold but playable. Wife and I had a good time playing. Not a lot of players, pace of play was excellent. We were not pushed at all and had virtually no one ahead of us.
Been coming here for a few years now…but apparently they don’t like when people use the Golf Now app and WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BAD ABOUT USING IT…Anytime I’ve gone in the past year they tell me “we’re gonna get rid of this GolfNow stuff” and other times have said “well we don’t make any money from you so enjoy playing for free” after i’ve clearly PAID…they’ve made me feel like i’m not wanted here. No other course has EVER said anything about this and i play courses all over the region…I wouldn’t have even known about this course if it hadn’t been for GolfNow…
Fix Those Greens
Pretty decent layout for a country track. Conditions tee to green were good for the time of year but whatever you've got eating up the greens on the front nine needs to be addressed ASAP. Bunkers were unplayable for the most part but that's no surprise these days in a lot of these lower price courses. For what I paid on GolfNow I probably shouldn't complain. I get there's not much to choose from out there in the sticks but at 75 miles from Raleigh, probably won't be back. If I lived closer I'd play it again.
3rd round at Timberlake
This is a great Par 71 track with some nice doglegs, gettable par 4s and even better looking par 3s which play really fun.
Shot 81 with two birdies, as a 10 handicap I had a great time. Might get another tee time tomorrow.
Hidden Gem
For the money, I don’t know of a better course around.
Mixed Feelings
Pace of play was slow. The greens were spotty and really slow. The bunkers need help. However the layout is nice and the fairways are in good shape.
Great layout, great value
I feel like this place is one growing season away from being a great course. The layout and elevation changes are great. The back is in better condition than the front. Looks like several greens had nematode damage. You can tell they're working on conditions.
First time playing here...nice suprise
I was pleasantly suprised with my experience at Timberlake. Every person I interacted with during my round was very friendly and welcoming. From staff to other golfers and the Pro who is also the owner ...these are nice people. This was an interesting and fun layout. I was hitting it pretty good that day too ,so ..bonus! There is a little water, some rolling elevation changes, some tree lined holes as well as some quite open holes that are more a linksy vibe. There were a few thin spots on some greens and I played about 3 or 4 weeks after they were punched. Greens were still nice just a little slower because the super hadn't cut them lower after the healing process. By the time you read this I'm sure they will be plush and couple points faster on the Stimp. I had a great convo with the owner/pro. He had recently treated the greens to solve a nematoad problem and had sod coming in to replace a few patchy areas.Fairways were very nice and the owner was in the process of adjusting mowing to create different heights of grass to better define the fairways ,2nd cut and rough. Future plans call for a new clubhouse. This is a hidden gem of a course at a great value. It was busy for a mid week day. I played by myself but teamed up with a local high school golfer for a few holes. Several groups let me play thru (I didn't even ask...they quickly offered...awesome!)but I wasn't really in a hurry. Thankfully I hit good shots and got out of the way pretty quick. Tees were very good. I saw a few reviews that complained about tee condition but nothing I saw or experienced was in poor condition...especially compared to where I usually play...Keep in mind when reading and writing reviews...if you are playing for $25 to $40 ...don't be a JA and review like you paid $150 at Pinehurst. Same with pace of play...Fri Sat or Sun on any popular track...it's 4.5 to 5 hrs so if you are in such a hurry...just stay home. I think this course will continue to improve and impress.Easy 5 stars and I will be back.PS please buy our club...you know which one lol
Timberlake
2nd time played this course. I like the layout. We like playing here because its very accessible and affordable. Pace of play is excellent, I have never seen it over crowded. Course is in "good" condition for a semi-private entity. I would be disappointed with it's condition if I were a member. There is no food available, except for snacks, but that maybe due to the lack of member support. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Hidden Gem
The weather has been brutal but the course was still in great shape. It’s a fair track with receptive greens.
Coirse tp myself
Had the course to myself. It was brutally hot day. The course is really dry. Lack of rain is starting to show on greens. They were slow from being long. Still a fun day i enjoy the layout there and the price
