Maple Meadows
Always a good test (back tees) course was in good condition for end of October especially the greens. The one issue I had is the had all the par 3 tee boxes as ground under repair. They had you playing from the up tees This is problem with many golf courses. If they are doing maintainence to the course they should tell you when you make your tee time
For late October, this was perfect
Got out early on a crisp and beautiful late October day. Fairways were groomed and the greens rolled true. An excellent course for the money. I will be coming back, and if you're looking for something new in the northwest suburbs, give this place a shot!
Kudos to the maintenance crew!!
I would have to say that this course was in the best shape I have ever seen it and I have been playing here for years! The bunkers were in immaculate shape and the greens were running very true. Job well done maintenance crew!
Aeration is bad news
When signing up for Maple Meadows the Golfnow site indicated an aearation warning. When we arrived the staff again indicated the course had been recently aerated and, because of that, the greens fee was half price. We appreciated the multiple warnings. However, having played recent aerated courses before, we thought it wouldn't be too bad. But, virtually all of the greens could not be putted on, as there was debris everywhere. The greens also were not in shape discounting the aeration. The layout also seem unimaginative. I would not recommend the course, especially at the regular price.
good course convenient location
Well maintained course, good pace of play. Good mix of holes with some difficult par 4's thrown in the mix. You can score low on this course if you play smart.
Average experience
There's a lot to like about this course. Well maintained, interesting elevation changes, which is unusual for this part of Illinois. Bunkers were all in good condition.
Was not impressed with the speed of the greens. Easily stimping as low as 7 or less on some greens. Course does need more trees and shade.
This is NOT a walking course...some really horrid layout problems and almost a half mile walk from hole 3 to hole 4. Also, for anyone that drives more than about 210 yards, the landing areas from the tee box can be extremely narrow throughout the course (which adds to the slow play), but open up after that to fair green complexes.
Looking forward to Oak Meadows reopening and hope they kept that course's character.
Overall Good Experience
This course has a nice mix of easy and quite challenging holes. Overall, I like the design.
I've had some issues with the staff in the past here, but this visit was fine. Beverage cart girl was very helpful and friendly.
It was a weekday but still fairly busy, but our foursome finished in less than 4 and a half hours.
Fairways were nice, but greens a bit rough and some traps, not all, could use a bit more sand.
Value wise, it's probably not worth the full price, but with discounts, it's a good value.
the course is a great layout, to bad greens were slow, and parts of fairways were dryed up.
the day started out bad when we checked in guy in pro shop said we had no tee time, then he wanted to charge us regular price. even after we showed him confirmation #. the course is not worth 32 dollars. its a 25 dollar course. I wish I could complain to DFP.
A Hidden Gem
My fourth round on Maple Meadows. None of my regular players are familiar with it or mention it when we choose courses. This should be better known. Well located with easy access. Beautiful natural and prairie features. Mix of sand and water hazards. Many holes have a subtle to more pronounced dog-leg layout. several long par keep you on your toes. Sand quality in bunkers should be improved which can be said of nearly every course I've played this year.
Good deal
It was a good deal. Only concern was the greens were rough and bumpy. The pace was very slow. Fairways were very nice.
It's just ok
It's not the best course around, but better that their 9 hole east course. The starter and player assistants could be friendlier. The pace of play was good, my foursome didn't have to wait very often. The course was well-groomed, but the ground was hard as a rock in many fairways and greens. Bring a lot of balls if you aren't very accurate with your shots.
It's not worth their full price rack rates.
No grille on Friday afternoon
This is a fun course to play. Condition was okay, but greens weren't fully recovered from aeration and sand in at least some of traps was hard. The grille was closed and only food available was cold sandwiches or a bar hot dog with no chips for $3.50.
Pace of play
Played as a foursome in under 4 hours in the middle of the afternoon.
Nice County Course
I've played Maple Meadows a number of times. The layout is good. Nice mix of holes. Greens are ok. Fairways are ok. Nice way to spend an afternoon.
1st ones on course
we played 18 holes in under 2.5 hours. Ideal golf conditions for fast players. only complaint was lots of goose droppings on the greens. Problem everywhere in Chicago area this time of year
Good course
It was real cold for playing. But we through without any problems. Course was well maintained even winter with freezing condition. I will be this course again sure.
OK but unremarkable
OK track but unremarkable. What you see is what you get. Course was is fair shape when we played. On Saturday morning 9am the only breakfast available was coffee and a sweet roll. Also no practice range.
A nice DuPage county course
Course was in excellent condition considering we have had a lot of rain lately. Greens had been aerated but still ran true. Fairways we're very nce. Some very scenic holes. Really enjoyed a fall-like golf day.
