Fantastic Value for Money
The greens were in a superb shape. The fairways, bunkers and the entire course were maintained beautifully. Me and my buddy paid 40 EUR to play this great course which was an amazing value for what you get! The only thing I disliked was the missing marshal on the course. The 4 ball in front of us was extremely slow slow and made no intentions to let us play through.
Great Course
Play this course at least twice a year as a treat and never got board of playing it!! Course in good condition but there are so many bunkers on the course they are struggling a bit to keep them in top shape. This course could hold a big international tournament with a little bit of work. Testing for all level of golfers but possibly the best value top quality golf course around. Just play it!
very impressive
I played 18 holes with my wife we really enjoyed our day
Lovely course
Love Palmerstown. Course was in great condition got great value. Will be back again
Great day out
We arrived as a four ball at 11.00 am for a 12.30 tee time , this gave us enough time to have a coffee and loosen up on the driving Range , putting area. We where greeted by Mark who was more than helpful , showing us all of the facilities and encouraging us to use them. We started on time , and we where very impressed by the up keep and standard of the fairways , the greens where very challenging but rewarding at the same time.We where not held up any where along the course with a group approx 1 hole in front for most of the day .The pace of play was great. We finished it off with a lovely bit of food and a pint in the well furbished bar.
Course was in terrible condition
Played Palmerstown today and have to say was very disappointed. The day was beautiful, sun shining and really looking forward to playing the course. We had played it last year and it was a brilliant discovery, course was in good condition and very challenging.
Today we arrived and went out only to discover they had pole forked the greens a week ago. No mention of this is the club house on arrival, o mention when we booked. The pole forked holed had not been filled in and the greens were terrible!! The fairways were not much better, the grass was long and short and unevenly cut all over with weeds all over. A lot of the bunkers were out of play due to their condition and the tee boxes were even worse.
Having played it last year, after we heard bad reviews and finding it to be fantastic, I'm afraid it is being neglected again.
A real Golf course
Amazing course. Very long. You use every club in the bag.
Just play there and you'll see. My favourite course in dublin/kildare by a huge distance.
Excellent course
Challenging course, and very well maintained. We played using buggies which I wouldnt recommend as you are limited to staying on the paths, which means considerable time spent walking to and from various parts of the fairway. Overall highly recommend as a test and a challenge.
palmerstown challenge
Great start to 18 hole' s a very nice par 4 followed by a very challenging par 4 with 2nd shot over water. Overall a great test of golf, course was in great shape, overall a great day out.
Great course, shame about no clubhouse
Course is almost on a par with Carton, Killeen Castle or K Club. Sand in bunkers need replacing and some general tidying up would be nice. However, tee boxes, fairways and greens are excellent. We played on a pleasant Monday mid morning, amazingly the course was virtually empty throughout our 5 hour round. Great value for the money. A great course, just down on its luck at the moment. They need a marketing drive to get some green fee income or else we will lose this jewel of a course.
magnificent course design 4par 5's are index 1 to 4
This is one of the best parkland courses in leinster and a real super test of golf. Even off the forward tees it plays long and the variation in holes is superb. A must play for anyone who gets a chance to play it.
plenty of water but very fair
course being well maintained very good greens overall a very good experience nice to see work being carried out on the clubhouse
Many herons, no birdies!
Palmerstown is a lovely layout, taking up a considerable area, so that the holes are well spread out, with lots of water. This has the advantage of keeping holes separate, so that you are not aware of other players as you progress around the course, as well as giving great variety. It is a long course, at a tad under 7000 yards off the 'Silver' tees I played, and 7420 from the back. Many par 4s are 440+ yards, with water in front of the green, so It's monster driving off the tee or a lay-up. The course was reasonably maintained, with good greens, but the fairways were patchy and (frequently) squelchy wet, which may reflect our unending winter this year. 'Play as you lie' was a bit unreasonable, as it was effectively winter conditions. The bunkers (of which there are a great many) were terrible, like concrete and with stones in them - it was necessary to pick away the stones and play the ball 'clean' to get out. Despite these misgivings, it's a super course and I'll definitely be returning.
very challenging but course not maintained to previous standards when i played it
Greens were sanded we should have been told that when we booked. Grass very high and a lot of the bunkers were unplayable due to a wet winter. I will go back in the summer and see how it has been maintained
World class course. Top Championship course for incredible value. Has to be the best value green fee I ever paid!
Fantastic design and challenge. If you are into your golf and want to be challenged, then this is it. Great design that puts pressure on your shots at various stages throughout the round. but allows you bail outs (and a higher score). Demands that you concentrate and focus and work out how to get around - give it great respect unless you are Tiger - plot how to make pars on the 4 par 5's ! Lots of space and a great feel of being on a large mature estate. Only drawback is that the restaurant was closed. Best value around, if you call yourself a golfer, then this is the true test!
Beautiful golf course in terrible condition
It is a shame to see a golf course with so much potential in such bad condition. I know it's not a great time of year but its still no excuse. Bunkers wer un playable standing water everywhere hence plugged balls. In my opinion the course shouldn't have been opened and I really regretted paying €30 to play in such shabby conditions. After paying €14 to play Knightsbrook(unbelievable condition for the time of year) the week before there is just no comparison. I don't think the future looks good for PH and its a terrible shame.

Lovely course. Always challenging to have water on one side and sand on the other. Played in mid October and the course was in good condition. The staff were terrific and gave me a few helpful tips. Hope to be back soon
there are some terriffic holes on this course
the day we played , the course was very wet and the drainage is not what it should be so we lost a couple of balls due to plugging on the fairways . Also when we arrived the place was locked up and we spent a half an hour phoning the course and security before we got in . Having said that it is a lovely place to play golf and you need your "A" game to score well around here .
the course is quite challenging
nice course but the bunkers need alot of attention some big stones, tough grit (not sand) not even raked was 1st out on course and not really playable.
