Wentworth Golf Club is routed through a scenic and varied landscape of woods and wetlands. At 6,459 yards, the golf course is relatively short but it offers a demanding, target-style layout. The course has narrow fairways and small greens that run fast. The front nine is routed through towering stands of cypress trees, pines, and mature oaks while the back nine has a more links-style layout that will test your shot-making skills. Water hazards come into play on several holes but the far more prominent features of the course are the massive bunkers that lurk beside the fairways and greens, ready to swallow even slightly errant shots. Careful strategy is required throughout the course in order to avoid losing balls. In addition to the challenging layout, Wentworth G.C. boasts superb conditions that are considered some of the area's best.

Surprise

We were a four-ball that arrived early and were able to go our almost immediately. Only a two ball in front and they kept about 1 hole ahead of us all the way round. Most greens were good with one or two scruffy spots but not to the detriment of the putting. Some fairways had parts that were also scruffy/bare but again for the price it was acceptable. Food in the bar was excellent and all round a very enjoyable game.

Tough layout, makes you think.

Wentworth is a beautiful course. Some spots needed tending to, but for value and challenge well worth it. I went off the back nine as a single and paired up with a 3some. Nine holes took nearly 2.5.hours, when played solo the front 9 was 50min.

Maybe next time ill wait until late afternoon.

Not the same course anymore

Played here all the time 10 yrs ago and was sorely disappointed to see the condition of the course today. Its undergone multiple changes in ownership since 2010 and the condition shows. The course use to be one of the best in the area with wicked fast greens and if I had to guess they were rolling at an 8 on the stentometer today. Glad to see the price reflects the quality, it's a great layout but not worth more than $35/round.

Greens still need TLC

This course has some narrow holes that require precision off the tee and on the approach. Many bunkers surrounding holes with steeply sloped greens. Bunkers need work, more sand and daily turnovers. Greens are puttable but don't look well. Hope for improvement in the drier season. Fun to play.

Improving Conditions

As a former private and now public course, Wentworth has gone up and down a bit over the years. Its a narrow course with many trees that can change one's angle to the fairway and the greens. The Summer rains can do damage so as it dries out well this Fall, the course should get back to a four star rating. Beautiful clubhouse in a very nice community.
