About
Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

Golfer Reviews
Staff was friendly about the best thing I can say about the place greens and tee boxes were 50% dirt 50% grass everything is super overgrown and out dated spend the extra $10 and play a different course
Can beat $20 for 18!
Bad weather was predicted and we were the only ones there. But as it turns out, we sat out the rain for only 5 minutes. Yeah some of the greens could use some work, but we enjoyed going at our own pace and looking at the beautiful scenery - saw so many different birds can’t list them all. Guy at the pro shop was so friendly and welcoming. We will be back!
Work in progress, but had a good time
Haven't played here for awhile, but I always liked the layout, staff, and the wildlife. The course wasn't in the best of shape, but it was significantly better than the last time I played here. Most of the sand traps were in terrible shape, but I just played it like a hazard! I believe they are trying to get the course back to what it once was, and I will be back to try to support their efforts.
Course is on the mend, great value
I have been golfing at Tarpon Woods golf course for about the past five years. I’ve seen it during its glory days and I’ve seen it at its worst, which unfortunately has been recent. However, I am happy to say the course is looking much better. During my time on the course recently, the tee boxes are in much better shape, instead of them being mounds of dirt with little small pockets of grass. There are actual fairways that have more grass than they do pockets of dirt, and also the greens while they are not perfect right now and there are still some that have burnt out spots. You can tell that the grounds maintenance team is working on reviving them and getting them back into Moore playable condition. So while the course is not in the best condition, it has certainly improved over what it was at the beginning of the year and especially during the early part of the summer. I highly recommend players getting out on this course. It’s a great championship layout, it is challenging and it will challenge multiple parts of your game and will also help you train with every club in your bag.
Manage your expectations, and just know the course is not at its absolute best right now but it is FAR better than it has been in the year.
Locals will understand
It's not good, but it's playable. Everything needs help and they're trying. 15-30$ to golf( i paid 8$) A driving range is 15$ a bucket. What would you rather do? It's going to take time but I would love to see this course come back to life. Great layout with 90 degree dog legs. My expectations were 0-10. I was surprised in a good way. Again it has multiple problems but for the price I'll be going back and using it as my practice course. If your a local who remembers what it looked like a year or 2 ago, it's getting better, and give it shot. I want to support this course.
Good cheap course
Overall just a 3/5 course, got my tee time for $18, pace of play is great, you can play at your own pace and basically have the course for yourself, which isnt shocking based on course conditions, all greens have dead, black patches and move like carpet. On the bright side the staff is really friendly and you get exactly what you pay for, cant really beat a <20 tee time
Save your money
Been playing golf for 35 years, never played a course in worse shape.
DON’T PLAY HERE!!! Pay the $10-20 extra and play anywhere else!!!
Expect a tee off on the T box in sand teeing up the ball in the fairway teeing up the ball on the greens cracked dried up lava hard rock for greens no water ever in the water jug on the back nine it’s just never there. I’ve played this course more than 50 times in the past year. I’ve watched them give free teetimes 18 holes in a cart and nickel and dime military service member guests out of a discount. I witnessed this and immediately said to him, I would not be coming back after the front desk service man Robert had a arguing contest with me and wouldn’t let me pay for my food so I could go play the back nine. He was extremely adamant about me agreeing with him before he would do anything to move me along. I asked 7 times to please let me pay for my food so I can go play the back nine. I then said I will not be coming back here he snatched my food and kicked me out, acting like a clown.
Do yourself the favor and pay the extra 10 or $20 for a better course with better service with water and ice. If you wanna hate Golf and have a horrible service experience, then pay the $20 and sign right up. I’ll never be returning here again and for the record “the property has been sold and paperwork has been filed, for an environmental tax deduction breaks”-Robert
So they really don’t care about this place and they’re about one year to two years out from closing according to the talk from the front desk. This is evident by the way, they treat their customers and the course!
Worn out course, great for hacker like me
Course in really bad shape, tee boxes and fairways are weeds/sand mostly, and the green are about 20%grass. Get lucky and land on a grass island to putt otherwise bumpy weeds all the way to the hole.
Beautiful property just mostly abandoned. Hit hard by the storm I guess as the cafe was blown away.
Greens are destroyed
Beautiful layout, love this course but greens are completely destroyed.
Great Layout/Needs Work
Great hike layouts. Really nice staff. Not busy. Facilities and course need a lot of work. Course was 50% sand including tee box, fairways, and greens. Would love to play this one in its prime.
Quality was terrible
Worst course I’ve been to. They are upgrading the greens but the entire fairway was a sand trap. The greens, while still being upgraded, caused the ball to bounce in the air when putting over stubs of grass. They had us read a disclosure in the club house about the greens prior to paying. For $40, it was overpriced
