Tarpon Woods Golf Club
About
Named after the creek that borders it, Tarpon Woods Golf Club is home to an abundance of wildlife including deer, alligators, turkeys, coyotes, and otters. The layout is not the Tampa Bay area's most challenging but it is one of the most scenic. Formerly Brooker Creek Golf Club, the club changed management and made several improvements to the bunkers, tee boxes, and greens in 2009. It has been a local favorite for more than 30 years. Overall the golf course is not particularly long but the front nine plays longer than the back. Each nine offers a unique set of challenges. The third hole is the longest and toughest with water that runs down the left side. There is also water on both sides of the approach to the green.

Don’t do it!
It was a great course 20 years ago. I was thinking they should have given me my money back. They should let it go and be a forest preserve.
Tarpon Woods
The course was in horrible shape. Nothing but sand in the fairways. It cost $39.00, the greens had holes all over. The clubhouse smelled like mold and there were broking windows .
No Play
The course is in bad shape. Fairways are a mess, i would say 30 percent of the fairways were dirt. Greens are like shag carpet and the Tee Box should be renamed Batter Boxes! I hope the weather turns to give this place a chance.
Beach course?
Sand, sand and more as far as the eye can see. Kinda forget what a blade of grass looks like. The fairways are dirt and the bunkers (where sand should be) are weeds. I’d rather get hit in the shins with a scooter, be water boarded, or be chemically castrated.
The microwaved frozen hot dog is the highlight of the day, paired with a stale bun really made me wanna run home and tell my friends.
Please for the love of god sell this property asap and a new community or some strip malls.
Bless.
Shame
This course used to be one of the nicest places around.
The course has been neglected so badly. The tee boxes , fairways are practically all sand. Some greens were ok but only close to the pin, the fringe is pretty bad.
I think the owners let it go to crap on purpose. I believe their goal is to sell the property to delvopers.
Too bad they obousliusly are not interested in reviving it to it's better days.
I play there only because it's cheap.
Tarpon Woods Golf Course
My wife and I played Tarpon Woods for the first time in almost a year. It is still in very bad overall condition but you can see they are working on improvements. Many of the greens are much better than they were. A number of tee boxes had grass and were better but a lot of them are still in very bad shape. Pretty much all the fairways need a lot of work. The price was very reasonable. In my opinion if your looking for a course to work on your game Tarpon Woods is a good choice.
Horrible condition
First time going to this course, Tarpon Woods the greens are not taking care of the fairways are not taking care of. Everything is just un taken care of because of a hurricane, but then I end up finding out that I was playing with this couple husband and Wife the guy got a. A peanut butter and jelly crest added the soda machine. They have no snack bar or nothing for anyone to get any drinks or nothing. I’d be afraid to get stuff there. the practice putting greens were horrible and they’re the same as throughout the whole course. I have some photos of what you are hitting out of the fairways are not taken care of. There’s no maintenance. The bathrooms are horrible. Just everything about it was horrible. It’s not been taken care of since the hurricane.
Not as advertised
We were charged more at the course than GolfNow quoted. They had no explanation or itemized receipt. The course was super dry -- mostly sand
Not as bad as the reviews say
I played this course on a cold windy day, and me and my friends had a blast! A twosome went out before us, and that was the last time we saw anyone on the course. We are beginner golfers, so playing this course was a blast. Will be returning often! Most of the greens were fine, a couple were in rough shape, and there were still a few downed trees from the hurricanes last year. The staff were friendly.
If you are expecting PGA level maintenance, you will be disappointed, if you are a beginner golfer like me who mostly plays executive and par 3 courses, this is a blast. Holes didn’t have houses too close to the course, so no houses were hit by errant shots.
We also saw a doe and her baby deer, which was really cool, and several other deer on the course. We will be playing this in our monthly rotation.
Over seeding
The greens are quite long (the grass) but the course is playable and nd I think that they are making improvements
Poor condition
I knew going in that there was gonna be something’s wrong with course just because of price. Whole facility is run down, Pro shop is small with not much to offer. Course is not maintained well, I know they just overseeded but greens were still bare, fairways browned out and tee boxes poor. It served the purpose I needed, to help my son, who is a beginner hit balls and not be rushed. Would not recommend to play and staff was a little arrogant
The need to close this course
This course is horrible. The worse course I have ever seen in my life. The greens are in horrible conditions. It is impossible to putt
Corn field
The worst course I’ve played. Do not golf here. Not even a course. Can’t put on mud. Can’t find your falls in the hay fields. Seriously the course wasn’t cut for weeks.
Horrible
Terrible condition tall grass and basically just dirt hills for greens complete waste of money, I don’t know what they are waiting on but obviously this coarse is going out of business.
Don’t go unless you want weeds and sand on the green/ unkept fairways
