Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club - Panther/Bobcat Course
About
There are three nines at the Silver Dollar Golf & Trap Club, which can be played individually, consecutively, or as three different 18-hole combinations. Each nine has a unique layout with different challenges but all share the same lush landscape covered with stately trees and water features. The Panther/Bobcat combination offers a mix of narrow and wide fairways, some of which are lined with trees. A few strategically placed bunkers come into play along the greensides and there are also water hazards coming into play on a number of holes. Located just northwest of Tampa along the west Florida coast, the nines represent the best of Florida golf. Silver Dollar also boasts some of the area's most affordable rates, which makes the versatile layouts doubly appealing.

We can then all over the course Photo submitted by Gilbert3585586 on 05/27/2013
I have played Silver Dollar for several years. It was the course that I learned to play golf on. I haven’t been going there that frequently because the courses are not in very good condition. There are makeshift tee boxes. The fairways are not very good. There is no consistency as far as the greens are concerned. Some are much better than others. I know that they’re doing some work to try to improve the conditions, but I would think that they would be further along since we are coming into the high season where the courses are quite full due to the snowbirds playing.
Meeehh.
Guy behind counter had attitude due to Booking through the Golf Now App they want you to book directly through them. Greens were not in good shape . The rest of the staff was super friendly.
Headed in the Right Direction
I’ve played Silver Dollar at its worst & it’s best. This time around I am happy to say that Silver Dollar is headed in the right direction. It’s clear that the Golf Club is doing their best to remediate the course as best as they can with the amount of daily play and throughput they get between residents, leagues & individuals. When I played it was Gator to Panther but because I was a single golfer they had me play the Panther course first. Hole 2 is wonky, they have a temp par 3 setup, and I will say that about 90% of the greens on the Panther course need cutting cause the green grass length was quite high. It made for some interesting putting. Now when I played the Gator course it was great. Tee boxes were in decent condition but not top notch. Fairways were well manicured, and greens were cut nicely. Overall, Silver Dollar is trending in the right direction especially for a course that has been plagued by drainage issues. Manage your expectations but marvel in the parts of the course that shine. Golf is about having fun, no need t let the course condition ruin the game.
You get what you pay for
There was a promo on this site for $28 for 18 holes of golf. The course was in so so conditions, the greens were long grass like fairway length, and there were a lot of patchy spots that had no grass at all throughout the whole course. The one awkward thing that did happen towards the back nine on the bobcat was they ran the sprinkler systems in the middle of the day at high noon while we were still playing. Even as we spoke to the groundskeepers, there was no acknowledgment that we were playing numerous holes that had all the sprinklers on throughout the fairway. I don’t know why they would run them at that time knowing there’s people playing. There were two gentlemen at the front desk in the pro shop that checked me in, one was very nice, and the other is somewhat I had seen in the past that you could tell was rather gruff and is probably the culprit of the numerous complaints within reviews for this golf course. I did not have to deal with Him so I guess that’s a benefit. You get what you pay for. It was $28 out the door, I finished in three hours, but the course conditions were not good.
Poor conditions, soaked
Very rough. 2 times been here and courses have irrigation issues and flooded. Holes have standing water in them. Some fairways are ok
Some Tee boxes are dirt
Greens have sand on them
For 20$ sure not for 40 or more
Improved!
We were glad to see the course condition was improved from the last time we played about 3-4 months ago.
Nice course, not very hospitable.
We were able to play two holes and we really like the course. On the third hole, the pouring rain started. If it had been a mild rain, we would have kept playing. But the rain was very strong. We asked for a rain check and were told that they don’t give rain checks if we booked through GolfNow.
Not Good
I have played this course for years. It was never a country club, but this is ridiculous. Entire holes out of commission for no apparent reason. New holes and tee boxes created in fairways. Fairways are crabgrass and dirt and are nearly indistinguishable from the greens.
Course has really gone downhill. Reminds me of the claw right before they decided to sell it.
Just no. Nope
have played here many times, always found the course in pretty good shape.
Tee boxes
Fairway were awesome greens were 50 50 Tee boxes were horindous not one but all of them.
