Westmanstown Golf Club

I played here today and really enjoyed my round. The greens were excellent and the bunkers were well maintained. If I was nit picking the fairways were a little rough in places and could do with a drop of water to replenish but as I said, that is being very fussy. We went out behind a 3 ball with 3 elderly gentleman and I thought we will be waiting on them, but nope. They moved along brilliantly and we completed the round in 3 hours which was great.

Staff were very helpful, and the off course amenities were top notch. All in all, a good course which I will play again!!!

Very well maintained course, Greens in excellent condition and playing fast on the day.

Pace of play good. Great variation in holes with water and trees providing a constant challenge. Very enjoyable round of golf.

Very good course for medium to high hcap players . Greens are as good as you will get anywhere . I played powerscourt on Wednesday and the greens were not half as good as westmonstown. Surprisingly log aswell . So try it . You'll definitely return .

Westmanstown was both a great venue and great value for a round of golf. The course was in great condition, especially the greens! It was a flat course, relatively short (off white tees) and it had a mix of easy and challenging holes.. The back 9 was particularly harder, and the last 2 holes, 17 and 18 were amazing with nice water fronts.

While I was happy with the course, the pace of play was extremely slow. The course could do a better job of keeping play moving. It’s understandable when there is older members playing but maybe space tee times out to avoid build ups or sound a hurry up hooter or have a call through system to keep play moving. It was one of the slowest rounds I’ve had.

The staff were hard to read. Friendly at first, but. I stated I was a golf now member and the tone was immediately different, as if I wasn’t experienced. I asked if there were any buggies and all I got back was “no” with a head shake as if I shouldn’t have asked. The same 3 buggies outside were still there when I finished.. I could be mistaken but I didn’t feel welcome compared to other courses I’ve played. I was also told to play white tees (with no explanation as to why I couldn’t play blue) and bring a divot bag. I’ve no problem with that, but it was the manner of it, as if I couldn’t play from blue because I was a golf now user and as if I was likely to hack up the course. Most other staff were far more inviting and also far more promoting of their course. They’d tell you what holes to look forward to, what’s available and have a friendly chat etc. please don’t mistake this for negativity, I’ve just found other courses more friendly.

Overall, great course with plenty of potential!
