Frog Hollow Golf Club

About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Ok, but there are better choices for me
I played Frog Hollow for the first time in a foursome on a Monday morning in August. Everything was fine, but nothing stood out. The course is a links style layout that winds through housing developments, with some homes being too close for comfort, and the townhouses lining other holes evoking a Florida golf course vibe. The layout is ok, but definitely has that 30 year old architecture of humps and bumps lining the fairways and just silly greens with hills and valleys galore. I really disliked the greens. The course was in decent shape, but with some wet, muddy areas. The course is flat so I imagine drainage is a challenge on some holes. The staff was perfectly nice and the rate is reasonable for what is, objectively, a lot of golf course. The physical plant of the clubhouse seems dated and the 19th hole is a low ceilinged cave, but hey, if that’s your jam, then go enjoy!! I think for me there are other tracks, similarly priced, that I enjoy more.
Still a great course!
Haven’t played this one in a while, but it has been consistently a great course. Greens are fast and true, and a true four star overall.
Will Return
Course was well-marked (except for the 6th hole) and well-laid out. Rolling fairways were interesting.
Bring your A game!
Or, if you're like me, and don't possess an A game, or even a B game, prepared to get your butt kicked by this beautiful course.
Am I a good golfer? Nope...but I can stick some shots here and there and break 100 on a easier course.
I chose it because it is fairly wide open, which is good for me and my buddy who don't often know which direction the drive will go. However, don't let the openness fool you. This course is very challenging from 200 in, and just when you think you can breathe because you stuck it from 150 out, the greens come up and bite you with ups and downs and lefts and rights.
All in all, fun course to play, but I wouldn't go back again unless I was in the mood for a good butt kicking.
Frog Hollow nice course
Played it during the week. Course for the most part was in great shape - greens were a little sandy due to treatment. People have to fix their divots on this course. During the week it was fast - played at 2pm and it was wild open - great value
Good challenge
Nice course layout with large undulating greens. Greens were pretty beat up though. Not enough golfers repairing ball marks! Also some burnt out areas.
