About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Currently a waste of money
Used to be a favorite of mine now I don't plan on playing it again until some serious maintenance is done. It has really gone downhill with fairways in dreadful conditions. The greens are being worked on it they're ot great and in fact when I played there were alternative greens which were simply awful. No longer an option for me..

Green under repair
Temp green were not even green rather just fairways before the actual greens. The fairways were in poor condition and there were lots of bare spots and lots of crabgrass. It will take many months for this course to get back to the was it was before the storm damaged their irrigation system. Come back next season.

Worst course I’ve played
Played on 9/14/2019. The course is in absolutely awful condition. Fairways were mostly dirt, bunkers have not been maintained in years, they had temporary greens because they were aerating the greens. This was the most depressing round of golf I’ve ever played due to the awful course conditions. I realize the weather has been hot and dry, but it seems like they neglect this course. Keep in mind I played this course about 4 or 5 years ago and it was stunning...not sure why they chose to neglect it recently, but if your planning to play here, I recommend you go elsewhere. It’s no fun golfing on this course. Very disappointing, not even worth the cheap price. I’ve played some bad golf courses over the years, but this is the worst I’ve ever seen. This course should be closed down until it’s repaired.

Course was a waste of time
Course was unplayable. Temporary greens were unplayable. Greens were like playing on rough. Holes were full of water and flagstick were broken. They should shut down course or at least warn the players that it’s not worth the money and mostly the time.

Poor Conditions
Glad I didn't pay full price to play. Course conditions were awful yet their web site claims it the best public course in the area. Not so! They said there was a lightning strike in July that interrupted their irrigation however the course should of come back by now.

Burned out.
Fairways, greens, even the tee boxes all burned out from the weather. Hard and cracked. The manager at the desk shouuld've refused to take the money.

Course was in horrible shape.looks like they don't care about the condition everything was in.fairways,bunkers,tee boxes,greens!will not be going back until I read better reviews.

BURN OUT!
I've played here in the past. First time this year that I played here. Every....I mean every fairway and green had burn out on at least half of it. This course in the past was never like this. I was totally shocked. Sometimes you might see some in the fairway, but this was ridiculous. I didn't ask, but they should have refunded my money. Just terrible.

How now brown crown
The course was struck by lightning which damaged the irrigation, some greens tee boxes and fairways showed the problem, but, this is still a great course and will be back even better soon. I love this course!
It was so bad that they should not be charging anybody to come and play on this course. They need to close it down fix it then maybe pay the dollars to play it was freaking horrible it sucked

Any golf day - a good day
I play the game for the fun of it. The course had major water issues this summer and unfortunately there is a lot of bad areas to hit from. If you take the game seriously and play for more than a good time I suggest you try somewhere else.

Lack of Maintenance
I've been to this course in the past and really enjoyed it. Though this was my first time playing this year and the course was terrible. Most of the greens were completely scorched, as well as many areas in the fairway. The ruff was not well maintained and ended up making it extremely difficult to find a ball if you hit 5-10 yards off the fairway.

Maintenance needed
We are visiting from Florida and decided to play a round close to where we were staying however poor choice. This course is in bad condition. We were totally disappointed. Fairways are terrible greens mainly dirt. I guess we were looking for something similar to Florida courses and this certainly was not it. I wanted a refund but just decided just let it go.

Course is destroyed
Frog Hollow has been running specials stating the sprinkler system was struck by lighting in July 2019. I have played there previously multiple times and loved the course was in immaculate condo so I figured what the heck try it and see
The course must be closing, grass hasn’t been cut, rough hasn’t been maintained, sand traps have grass growing throughout, fairway is beaten, and the greens are dirt (literally all dirt no green see picture). While playing we were the only people on the course, at one point we caught up to another pair but this is only because it started thundering and lightning so we were headed back to the club house. While playing the sky’s turned gray and the thunder started. Like always we play until the horn, except there was no horn, EVER. 30+ minutes into the storm and still no horn.
Seems like this course will be closing in the near future. Such a shame was one of my favorite local courses.

Not Playable
Course says lightening struck their irrigation system and went unwatered for 2 weeks. This is usually a must play course with superb condition. BUT AS OF NOW, ITS UNPLAYABLE, and likely will be for a while. Greens are BARE and BROWN.

Worst round of golf EVER
This course should not be open in its current shape.
The starter stated that there were some brown spots out there - that was an under-statement.
The course was in non-playing shape and should not be open until the fairways and greens grow back.
They say the sprinkler system went down and thats why its in such poor shape, but why do the bunkers have grass growing in them.

Course is in rough shape
Overall this course has potential but in its current condition it needs work. Greens are patchy w minimal green spots. Sand traps are mainly rocks with a couple of the par 3s having nice sand. Would try this course again once it’s in better condition but not till then.
