About
Frog Hollow Golf Club in Middletown boasts the title of "best public golf course" in Delaware. The course has a links-style layout that is challenging but still player-friendly enough to appeal to beginners, seniors, and juniors. The layout is wide open and quite forgiving but there are still plenty of hazards with which to contend. There are more than 50 strategically placed bunkers throughout the golf course. Their thoughtful placement makes up the bulk of the layout's challenges. There are ponds that come into play on six holes as well as tall native grasses that appear along the fairways and greens. The wind is often a factor on the course too and will test your accuracy even further. Frog Hollow Golf Club's par 3s and par 5s are manageable but the par 4s will test even the best players.

Course Conditions Horrible
We have played this course twice. The first time was earlier this spring, and it was a pleasant experience.
We played 9 holes yesterday and the fairway and green conditions were atrocious. The fairways were in such poor condition that if you left a divot it improved the look. The greens were mostly nonexistent of grass, and even the sand traps were so poor that if you landed in one the ball bounced out.
My gripe is that we were not told at the pro shop while we paid. I understand that golf course go through periods of maintenance, but at least let us know so we can decide if we wanted to play under the conditions or go elsewhere.

Been a while and will Be a while again
Last played here ten years ago. Got a hot deal, then the morning I was to play got an email from the course offering discounts because of poor conditions. I should have stayed home. Burnt out fairways , unkempt traps, and terrible greens. Lame excuse about water system down because of a lightning strike. That should not prevent greens from being taken care of, or maintaining the traps. Drove over 30 miles each direction for this. Spend your golf dollars someplace else.

Needs work
My experience is somewhat limited as I have played Odessa National, Back creek, & Deerfield but compared to those Frog Hollow would be my last pick if I was asked which course to play. The bunkers were unkempt (played early in the day) the course itself needed attention as far as upkeep. Pace of play was fine, ate at restaurant which was great value for the money. I would play Frog Hollow again in the future but would hope for improvements.
Not in good shape and
I’ve played this course before and always enjoyed my round. Currently , the course is in very bad shape, in my opinion it’s unplayable. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are burnt out and most of the bunkers are unplayable. The starter said their sprinkler system was damaged by a storm, but based on the conditions I think there’s more going on. There should be a warning posted on the GolfNow site. Beware if you plan on playing here anytime soon.

Average experience
Low cost and very few golfers on the course, but wasn’t impressed by conditions of the course. Lots of dead grass, bunkers were a disaster, greens were in terrible condition.

Beware this course is done for the season...
We booked our golf round on Golfnow and prepaid...we showed up on the course was pretty much empty. Only then did we find out that there was an ‘irrigation problem’ but was assured the course was brown and still very playable. This is dead wrong. The course is hard, covered in crabgrass, and greens are dead.
There is no mention of the course condition on Facebook, the website or Golfnow. I recommend that you inform those booking of the condition and that you actually consider closing until the repairs are made and the course is in better condition.

The course itself needs work
The course conditions have really gone downhill the last couple of weeks. The sand traps are unplayable, and it appears that they are losing some of the greens and tee boxes
Great layout, absurdly bad conditions
This course was the biggest shame I've ever played. What was clearly once an incredible and interesting track has not become barely playable. I won't complain about the hard fairways that gave my drives an extra 30yards, but the greens were so bad it was funny. You might as well skip putting because the amount of dirt you putt over was ridiculous. Not to mention the bunkers in such bad shape I didn't even feel bad pulling my ball out of them due to so many rocks. The condition of the course is honestly so bad, you shouldn't be able to post a USGA score to it because at a certain point you're normal ability goes out the window. With proper investment in this course to bring the conditions back, I'd love to play this course again. But even the $25 deal i got from my victory pass felt close to a ripoff. That said, the staff was awesome. Really sad to see such a nice course fall into such disrepair.

Downhill
I used to hold this course in high regard. It was costly and is about an hour drive for me, so when I make a tee time to ay here it really is me going out of my way. Unfortunately, the course is in complete disarray. The fairways are burnt, divots aren't cared for (put some miracle grow in the carts), bunkers have been "in work" for almost 2 years (looking at you greenside bunker on hole 5), prior hole positions have the equivalent of a toupee after being filled, and the greens... I bet Neil Armstrong found more grass on the moon. I love this course setup but I cannot justify driving all the way up there when I can play at courses closer to me for less and in significantly better shape. I hope you all get this figured out, because I love playing this course when it is in good conditions. At least there was cold water igloos throughout the course.

Not what it used to be
The course was in much worse shape than in previous years. Also, one foursome ahead of us was holding up 5 others. The ranger basically criticized us stating that they were on pace -- but clearly they slowed down substantially in on the back 9. We won;t go back.
Course is lost
Dont waste your money or time. Multiple changes in management has caused the course to become a victim of no direction. A once go to course for me will no longer be on my play list. Greens and fairways have been lost,traps are not playable with grass and weeds in place of sand. First cut of rough in up to your calfs. No mention of course conditions when checking in. After round management says sorry reevaluating course, with not so much of an attempt to make things right with a refund.

Course needs water and cutting
The course is currently under stress due to broken irrigation panels. They are now fixed and I expect that things will be back to normal, which is normally in good condition.
I am not in favor of the new look keeping grasses off of the fairway really long. That and keeping that same long grass in areas around traps and inside the fairway on some par 3's is slowing up play, causing many lost balls and generally making the house unnecessarily difficult.
I would like to see it back that way it was before this change.

Maybe Next Year
Frog Hollow is a really great golf course 90% of the time I've played there. Yesterday was my first round there this year and it has gone downhill by leaps and bounds. Greens and fairways are burnt out, some greens are cracked, the bunkers are full of weeds and rocks. The most frustrating part is, there is no advertising of the poor conditions anywhere and the fee to play is still $50. Management has to get a grip on the fact that they are not producing a golf course worth that. Having one day off a week and traveling 30 minutes to play a course in that bad of shape is a waste of time.
I'd recommend calling ahead before playing to get a status check on conditions.

Course is lost
Don't waste your money or time. New ownership doesn't have a clue on how to to care for a course just wants your money. Course was always in great shape and a value for your money. 75% of the greens have been lost bunkers are over gown and unplayable. After the round discussed course condition with staff and asked how are you chaging full price for a cow pasture said simply sorry they were reevaluating the course at the time

Course in horrible shape. All the grass is dead.
What was once a great course is now an overgrown, unkept, and all around poorly managed golf club. Hopefully with the new owners they can turn things around

what happened?
This has always been a really good course. Great shape and fun to play. Yesterday I brought a friend from out of town to play a round on this "really nice course".
All 18 greens and the practice green was browned and in some places cracked. The fairways were not much better. The bunkers were weed filled. I don't know what happened here, but I won't be back there this year. If they still care, they need to shut it down and fix it.

Poorly Maintained
Very disappointing. Extremely burnt out on both the fairways and greens. Bunkers had little to no sand and a ton of grass coming through. Course may have been nice once opened, but they have seriously neglected the course. Worst condition of any course I've played all season. Avoid if possible.
