White Horse Golf Club
About
White Horse Golf Club has one of the toughest courses in the Northwest. Situated on the Kitsap Peninsula, the course is located just five minutes south of the Kingston ferry terminal. The course sits on the Puget Sound between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, offering panoramic views on every hole. When the Suquamish Tribe bought the club in 2010, one of their top priorities was to make the course more playable. They enlisted John Harbottle for the job, a local architect who has designed several layouts throughout the state. By taking out nearly half of the bunkers, he opened up the greens and made them more approachable. He also widened the fairways and made the landing areas more generous. Since the update, White Horse Golf Club has become one of the most popular on the peninsula.

Emaculate Challenge
It was a real treat getting to play White Horse, I'd been wanting to make the journey there for quite a while and finally decided to do so on my birthday weekend. After reading several reviews about the course I was extremely excited to get out there and see the layout. I wasn't disappointed.
Sprawling bunkers make every shot count and required us to really target ball placement on the greens because they are the firmest I've ever played, which was surprising since we've had one of the rainiest winters I can remember and it was lightly to heavily raining for nearly my entire round. Give credit to the incredible irrigation system, every other course might have been rained out due to several downpours that happened while I was there, but the large fairway drainage system continued to work away and keep the course easily playable. While the course had some really fun par 3's, I think it's the short par 4's that I liked the best. On the front 9 there are times you're hole is so heavily wooded and secluded that you'll feel alone out there.
Course conditions: the course was mowed and 90% of the balls that hit the fairway bounced while the other 10% only partially plugged, viewing the ball from the cart path wasn't an issue. This was particularly impressive given the amount of rain that day and the winter we just had. The greens are extremely firm, but I believe that is by design and in no way a knock against the course, it actually added an extra layer of challenges to the day.
My only complaint was on the approach to each hole, the board would have the yardage for each of the 4 tee boxes but wouldn't give you the shape of the hole, so we ended up having to find it on google. For most holes this wouldn't have been a problem, but there are several holes I can remember where you can't see the dog leg or the direction of the green from the tee box.
Overall: this course challenged me more than I thought it would have and really forced me to make uncomfortable shots and take chances. I didn't play particularly well, but had a blast doing so.
Good Value for Good Golf Course
This course was a nice surprise. I drove a ways to get there(73 miles) and was not disappointed. Challenging track in nice condition. Nice facilities as well.
Best course I've seen in winter
For as rainy and wet that it's been in western Washington over the last 5 months, this course played like late spring. The layout was fantastic with challenging fairways that made you choose between a drive and a layup, or long iron and a long iron. Pace of play was just under four hours, and no pressure on either side of us. I will be returning to this course very soon.
Challenging
Great course to play. Well maintained. Makes you think because driver isn't always the way to go.
A nice day to tune up the game
Monday and there are cars in the parking lot, but I didn't see many golfers. Hadn't played in a while so wanted to get some swings in. Had the course to myself and was impressed by how dry it was. No mud. The greens were nice. I figured out the speed, but not enough putts dropped. Left them right next to the hole. Some wind, but not bad. Very enjoyable and no temp greens. Great winter course.
White Horse GC
It may take a little extra effort to get to White Horse but it's a course that will reward those golfers that are willing to make the journey. Wonderfully carved through the trees of the Kitsap Peninsula, golfers will find rolling fairways, elevation changes, strategically placed bunkers, large undulating greens, generous flat tee boxes, thick rough & a few water hazards to round things out. An above average course that will have you planning your next trip.

Too cold for golf
Although the course was open for play, the greens were frozen. They set up temporary 'greens' but they were a joke!! The staff was more than friendly. But they should have offered free coffee instead of charging $2.50 and discounted the $10 for a bucket of balls.
Proud to consider this our Home Course
Always friendly staff
Great !!Pro - Bruce Christie!!
Course is challenging! Don't be shy of hilly terrain/ holes
Beautiful trails !
New carts .. bright red.. full of power
We golfed in rain and had a great time!
Good course and in good shape.
The greens were still pretty sandy from the recent airation but overall it was in great shape for early fall. We enjoyed the round even though we were showered on for 4 holes or so, the sun did cone out for us to finish our final 4 holes so...
Great course. Fun day
This is a very fun course with more than enough challenges for a 16 hcp
Friendly staff and a decent pace of play until they sent off a few groups on the back nine as we made the turn. A 4 hour round became almost 5 1/2.
Worth the ferry ride!
Great course!
Really enjoy playing here! Great value and design!
The course is fair but challenging
The course was in great shape.
Great course
This golf course has a great layout with some challenging holes set in a beautiful natural environment!
Fun course in the middle of nowhere
The clubhouse is beautiful. The driving range easily accessible. The course has a lot of quirky holes with lots of elevation change and the golf boards were a hoot. Greens were hard and slow which is a hard combination to get used to. I was not real happy with the loud music being played outside of the clubhouse for a tourney that started later in the day and even though we were a two-some we had a couple of rude golfers behind us, another two-some, that we finally let play through even though we had to wait for the group ahead of us at every hole. They ended up skipping a hole and passing the group ahead which made the back 9 more relaxing because we never had a golfer behind us after that.
Everyone needs to play Whitehorse at least once
Great outing with my guests from Seattle. They want to come back to challenge the course again.
Only issue I have is the HIGH COST of a cart when you are already paying a premium in green fees.
The good things about white horse
There driving range is a little pricy but it does have grass instead of those Matts so that's worth the 10dollars per large basket. There golf course is really Beautiful and it was worth the money and the golf carts is Electric not them loud glass carts.the staff are really kind and there isn't really any bad things about the course oh and FYI their greens are super fast. My experience going to the course was really and I'm most likely to come back.
did you expect temp greens to be fantastic?
