Overbooked.
Pace of play was extremely slow. It appears they overbooked tee times.
There was a line of 7-8 carts before teeing off. Not sure why the schedules that many golf tee times.
Old favorite
Hadn't played Mountain Meadows in years. I've always loved the course but it's even better today than I remember. And the new bar is great. A true sports bar. Will definitely be back - and often.
Great place to test your game!
What a gem. Great staff , awesome lay out. Excellence maintenance. Looked and felt like a top tier track.
Value and challenging
Love the new sand traps great new designs and layout. Greens are in excellent condition fairways are good considering the drought conditions in southern California. New bar is great.
Great Views
The course was in great shape, with great views. Would have helped to have the Marshalls anywhere but the clubhouse to help with the speed of the course. Even with 2 singles in front of us and 2 behind us, it still would have helped to have some coordination from the first tee on. Would have also been nice to see some cold water coolers SOMEWHERE on the course. I will definitely come back, but I will bring my own cooler and be prepared for no assistance on the course.
Mountain Meadows
Walked the Blues (6440/71.0/128) with Hermgolfs in 3H, 50M. The weather was in the 70's, partly cloudy and breezy. We paid their standard $29 midday walking rate, which was a little high IMO, especially since they had done maintenance on the greens same day.
Older, traditional Ted Robinson design, my 1st time here. Really enjoyed the hilly, tree lined layout. You need to be able to shape shots both ways as there are numerous holes that bend to the left or the right. Many blind or semi blind shots over hills where you need to know the course to get the ball to end up in the correct location.
The tees were the worst part of the course. At best average, many needed divot repair and several had large bare areas.
The fairways were generally decent, with good coverage. A few browned out areas here and there.
The rough was medium length, tough to get good club on the ball. Good coverage overall, but thinner and more sporadic the farther you were from the fairways. That plus the many mature trees made keeping it in the short grass a premium here.
The sand traps had been recently refurbished. Very nice with plentiful, thick sand. They were punitive, just deep enough that your ball often sat down in it's divot.
We were advised that they had punched " a few problem areas on some greens with small holes, no sanding" when I inquired with the Pro Shop beforehand. It turns out that they had punched a dozen entire greens with small tines. That was disappointing. The 2/3 of the greens that were punched were still medium fast but were firm & bumpy. The 1/3 of the greens that were unpunched were medium fast bordering on fast, relatively smooth and held well struck irons well.
Something unusual for a course that had greens that were obviously well above average "but for" today's punching was that the aprons were very poor. Numerous bare areas, some recently resodded areas, very inconsistent.
We were lucky to be sandwiched in between two 2somes, so our POP was excellent, we did not wait after our tee shots on #1. However, we saw some of the standard American Golf 5somes out on the course, so there were pockets on the other 9 where the play was backed up. Customer Service was good overall, I waited around for traffic to thin out afterward and had a drink snack in the restaurant, mediocre and overpriced.
I really liked the layout, it's a longer, better version of Los Robles near my home. Some tight holes mixed in with others that have very generous landing areas. Nice views of the surrounding area and Pomona drag strip. One of the better hilly courses I have played in awhile, definitely recommended.
Good shape, decent value.
The course is in great condition compared to other local courses. You can really see how Mountain Meadows benefits from having reclaimed water during this drought. The fairways are plush and green and the greens are quick and smooth. The layout is a bit odd with a few "funky" holes that can prove to be challenging or annoying depending on your perspective. The only real downside is the pace of play; most weekend rounds are 5+ hours so have a few cold ones ready. Overall, I would recommend this course for a casual round for average to advanced golfers; beginners will struggle.
Good challenge
Good challenge. Uphill, downhill, side hill lies. Need to work the ball right and left. Drive it straight and your fine. Good pace on greens. Nice sand bunkers
Great staff & always a good course
Staff (both inside & outside) were great: friendly and courteous. E joyed our round, despite the obvious extra foursomes they squeezed in every hour. Course layout is challenging but fair and their greens are always fast (running about a 10 on stimp meter). Definitely worth a consideration, again, vastly due to the layout, greens and most of all, the staff!
One of my favorite
Notice great improvements lately
A Very Nice short Course
This course has it all. It's a great place to play if you want to improve your game. fairways and greens are in great shape.
Fun Challenge
Nice lay out in the foothills near Pomona, CA. Challenging and rewarding. Was extremely windy on some holes.
Bad
We were not told before booking this on golf now that the greens had just been punched the day before. This made okay very bad. We would not have booked this course if we had known the greens had just been punched. There should have been a warning on golf now about course conditions instead we found out at 615 am when we arrived. No offer of a discount made me not happy.
Typical American Golf
Golfnow price saved me $10 for the two of us which turned out to be a false savings. Counter guy casually says, oh yeah, we just punched and sanded the greens. Wife says we play anyway which would have been ok, except counter guy neglected to mention that on half of the holes they stuck a cup and flag in the fairway 20-40 yds. short of the green, making them useless for anything resembling golf. We skipped two holes to get around slow groups, otherwise it would have been 5 hrs. of torture instead of just 4-1/2. Tee boxes and fairways are mostly the same slightly scruffy conditions found on most public play courses in So. Cal with the water problems we are having.
Great course fun good conditions
The course itself was well maintained. Club house was clean and modernized to eat in. Marshal kept a good pace of play on the front 9. Very fun course.
Slow
Allowing 5-some makes the pace slow. Need reconsideration.
Cold Day for Golf!
Let's start off with the few positives. The greens are nice, green side bunkers are under repair/remodeling. Fairways are poor either due to drought or over watering, not in very good shape. Tee boxes are fair. Too many fivesomes and pace of play is extremely slow. Now on course management needs improvement and better handling of issues relative to tee time etiquette. I do not recommend this course.
Mountain Meadows
Course was in good condition and the pace of play was decent considering we played on a Sunday morning. The greens were very fast and will be even better in the coming weeks. Love the new sand and only a few holes left to fill and the course will be in the best shape ever!
5 1/2 hour round
Course is nice and I would recommend playing it. Bunkers are great. However, playing on a weekend, horrible. They booked too many tee times with fivesomes. The staff could do better.
Potential to be GREAT!
Been playing this course for over 20 years and as busy as it seems to be the course conditions except for the SAND TRAPS are above par. They really need to rebuild ALL the traps. They are like hardpan under a half inch of dirty sand. Had a great round going (1 over after 11 holes) but tripled the 12th because you can't use the standard sand shot from any of their traps and sculled it from one to the other, tried different approach to the shot but was only guessing on what to do. PLEASE listen to this critique and make this a priority for your next improvement. Now the good part,,,the greens are absolutely awesome! They are all very healthy and it's obvious they know what their doing with them! Bur again,,,WHAT ABOUT THE TRAPS!!!!!
