IE staple
I’ve had the pleasure of playing this track nearly 100X over the years. I haven’t been back since Covid until yesterday. Let me say I was worried about some of the recent post about poor course conditions but decided to give it a shot.
Luckily when I got to the course I found out some folks are just very hard to please no matter what. Are there some rough spots out there in the fairway that are sunburned? Yes… unpalatable and horrible like some recent reviews? Absolutely not. Look it’s 100+ degrees out here for over three months I’d you think it’s going to be deep Forrest green with pillow soft fairways all year long you are kidding yourself.
The course is being maintained very well and they are trying the best they can with the weather they are being dealt. The greens are soft and roll true… a little slow this time of year but that’s more because of them letting the greens grow out a little more to avoid them burning up.
Pace of play was a little slow but that’s more to do with the large mixture or experienced players and beginners playing the course. Not much the course marshal can do about that (4:40min round)
Overall still a fun track and I’ll definitely be back.
You get what you pay for…
Only play here if it’s a hot deal. Not at all worth the full price. The fairways need work and the greens are so slow. The pace of play was horrible. The practice area was okay. I wouldn’t refer anyone here who plays regularly.
losing the fairways
Like most courses, they have a water problem.
Fairways are dry and beat up. Bunkers are inconsistent as are the greens.
Solid course for the price
Decent course, fairways had some pretty dry spots. We booked our tee time for Sunday @ 8:48 but apparently there’s a golf club or something so we got pushed back 15-20 mins and got stuck behind a group of 5 golfers. Outside of that not bad, few includes some food and a drink
Fun, forgiving course with cart, range and a snack included.
I have played at Shandin Hills a few times now and always enjoy it. If you want to warm up, they have a driving range and a bucket of balls is included with your game (I believe); you also can get a sandwich and drink from the snack bar with your receipt.
Hole are forgiving if your having a bad day, and still fun if your game is on point.
Condition worsened
Bumpy greens and fairways. Brown spots all over. We played there many times and this is the worst time of the year. By the way, they discontinued the free hot dog and cold drink for Hot Deal customers.
Little Happiness
I love this facility.. Playing.. Eating..
And recommend to my friends.
Even though it's hotter than my city during the summer.
However yesterday course layout was terrible..
But I understand maybe lts special (FATHER'S) DAY..
So I'll come back and play again.
It's.. Joyful.. & happy.. etc..
Corporation course
Unfortunately tops course is a prime example of what happens when corporations own golf courses and not private individuals or groups. This course has so much potential but is so poorly run. The front desk had a young man with minimal to zero customer service skills, when asked about a cart, he just pointed at a basket of keys and really seemed like he couldn’t care less about being there. There was no starter, so starting around me tee time at 10:24, groups were already behind and it didn’t get better once the round started. There was also no Marshall keeping up pace of play, which is why at the 2 and half hour mark and having just barely teed off on 8, I called it a day. Nearly 3 hours for 9 holes is ridiculous regardless of the day and time. The only reason this review got a 2 is because the course was actually in decent shape. Fairways and greens were in really good shape and are the only saving grace of the course. Last time I will be playing here for sure.
Old School Course with Slow Greens
The one thing you need to know is that this course maintains SLOW greens. If that's OK for you then this course is maintained fairly well with groomed bunkers. It is a flat non-discript layout. Like most public courses there are bare spots, especially in the rough. Pace of play was excellent, mostly 2-somes. We had no delays playing mid-day during the week.
Nice Layout
Been a few years since playing here .. course was in good condition greens rolled pretty good
