Really good value!
Greens and tee boxes were in great condition but faster than I'm used to. Fairways were the only weak part. Most had a mix of about 60 - 70% green but very thin even on the portions that were green. They also had about 20 - 30% brown and/or dirt sections. HOWEVER, I loved the layout for the most part, especially the back nine. Club selection played a big part of the round as there were multiple areas where you could be in real trouble if you chose the wrong club. I also want to say that the young man at the check in counter ("Brice"?) was so VERY nice, polite and friendly, it made it a pleasure to be there. The young man at the cart area was also very nice and helpful too. I DO recommend this course!!!
Great Find
I accidentally booked this course instead of one of my regulars. It’s lovely and well maintained. It starts out easy, but quickly becomes challenging starting with the ninth hole. It’s surprisingly cheap. Great find!
BTW - The course is part of a “country club” that’s beyond its prime. That explains why it's so void of golfers, even for a Wednesday. But I went for the golf
Good but hoping for better
Overall the tract of fun. There are some holes with amazing views towards the end of the round. This course also has some narrow fairways and some sloping fairways so unless you’ve played here before or have someone in your group that has, it can catch you off guard. Position for your 2nd shot is key on many holes. Overall, a fun place to play. Once the greens are healed from punching and if they tidy up here and there, this place is top notch. Right now, $60 weekdays is fair. Upwards of $100 on the weekend, uhh no, sorry.
Challenging
Overall the course is good little Narrow hope you don’t have a slice. Course is confusing don’t really tell where to go but it was nice a lot of green will play there again.
Nice course but…
We don’t appreciate when a course does NOT indicate on Golf Now that the greens were recently punched. It would be nice to know that ahead of time and before booking. Second issue was that we didn’t like the fact that when we arrived, they told us that the bar and grill was closed and is “always closed on Monday.” We were like, ψTF? We did not know that ahead of time. Now we know. So we went to the local liquor store real quick and brought our own. We had no choice and we were happy to save money on a bar tab. If the course doesn’t like it, then pay someone to work the bar and grill everyday.
Very fun day of golf
We had a terrific time. The entire staff golf shop and dining room/bar were the friendliest we've encountered for some time.
The course was in excellent shape, very fast greens. Very challenging with lots of water no the course, "A stream runs through it."
Great course layout
This course offers a fantastic layout that challenges every part of your game—from sharp doglegs and narrow fairways to water hazards, ravines, elevation changes, and well-placed bunkers. It’s a great place to sharpen your skills, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned golfer. The greens are firm and consistent, fairways are well-manicured, and the tee boxes are nicely leveled. My only minor gripe? A few muddy areas here and there—but overall, it’s a solid and enjoyable course to play.
The worst course etiquette
Man... I really dislike this course. Every time I've played here, sprinklers, lawn care, CONSTRUCTION, you name it, always something interfering with your round of golf. The price they charge for this course is a joke. Played here yesterday for the last time, the greens were still healing from being punched months ago, they were soaking the course with sprinklers until 9 am, and the lawn mowers were prevalent on the first 5 holes. The Marshall had the nerve to talk to us about the pace of play... finished in 3 hours and 44 minutes with a full group. Canyon Crest sucks, plain and simple.
No Snack shack?
You go online & book with this course & they pop up a giant page ad about the new snack shack.. oh yeah not open today. CC is not what it was many years ago when it was private. It has pretty decent conditions, but the price could be better & it probably would give them more business. My chief complaint about today at CC I wish the kids who work there gave a little more of a crap.
I went out as a single watched 3 groups of 4 go out ahead of me so I went backwards & started on 10 & played the entire round in 3 hours with taking my time & hitting multiple balls on some holes.
Nice Challenging Course!
I had an overall good time while playing at Canyon Crest Country Club! The course was is good shape considering its summer and the lack of rain. Fairways are cleanly cut, bunkers were well kept, and greens are fast! The course has a great layout and has hazards at more then half of the course. Definitely a layout to practice course management. The staff was very friendly while I was there and showed me around. Definitely coming back!
What Happened??
I used to love playing Canyon Crest. Unfortunately I may have played at a bad time for the facility to accommodate what we wanted. I couldn’t purchase golf balls from the pro shop and according to the staff, “the driving range was out of range balls” but the range balls just hadn’t been picked up yet. The course has potential and I really hope it gets better but for $65 for that round when their website says, “cart, range included” is just not worth it.
