What happened to this course?
One of the worst courses I have played. There is no grass in the fairways it’s all dead. Pace of play is absolutely the worst as it was a 6 hour round no cart girl no Marshall. Don’t waste your money here
Fairways were horrible
I've been coming here for years & this is the worst condition I've ever seen the golf course in. The fairways, every single one of them were trash, brown & mud everywhere and very little grass to hit shots off of. There was no water jugs on any par 3's and it wasn't cheap 2 play either. It'll be a long time b4 I come back to play this dump for $67 on a weekday !
Course was a blast. Great panoramic views from the boxes.
Terrible Pace
A course charging these kind of rates , should afford to have a Marshal , had tee time 12:07 and was not able to finish the 18 holes, 5 hrs to play 16 holes!!!!!!
Book by calling or you're out of luck with any trouble like rain
Great course, and we enjoy playing it or going to the range often. We just played and the weather was supposed to be nice, but it started raining midway through our round.
Sierra said they could not give a rain check and to call golf now. Once I finally found a number for golf now I called them, and they called sierra to confirm rain. Then they said talk to Sierra about a rain check. Sierra said talk to golf now, and they would not do a raincheck.
We got 10 holes in though, and the rain broke 2 hours later but we were over it.
SLOW PLAY!
Booked a round a week out from home in MN. Drove 90 minutes from L.A. to Fontana only to find out we were playing behind an 80 man tourney that had been delayed 2 hours or so for frost. It took over 3 hours to play 9 holed, so we decided to quit. Clubhouse arable to issue a 9 hole raincheck due to Golfnow booking. Very disappointed with course conditions & situation for a $100 round of golf!
Super Slow Pace
Played on 12/26 with mid morning tee time. Tee'd off late as they were behind. Waited on almost every tee box with two groups. We've played here before but it was ridiculously slow, took 6 hours to finish the round.
Saw cart girl 3 times in front nine, zero on the back nine which seemed odd. I think she is new cause she won't stop for people hitting on the tee box and will drive by you without asking if you need anything. We can't stop yell and stop you if someone in our group is hitting, so please wait.
This place is farther to get to from OC and never had a slow round like this before. I expect it is due to people who don't normally play golf, trying to play for the holidays. In any event, probably will not be playing here for awhile. 6 hours for a round is just insane, its only happened to me like 1 other time in 10 years.
Great customer service and awesome course conditions. Unfortunately morning snack bar was closed, was not able to get a cup of coffee before our round. .
Perfect Monday Roumd
Got deal on Golfnow , $25 less than rates at the course due to holiday rates. So saved there. Greens were fast and perfect, fairways were dormant, but perfect to hit off. Seemed like we had the course to ourselves. Always a great round at Sierra lakes. One of my favorites for a quality round , never disappoints
Mismanagement persists
On a Wednesday morning, I made a same-day booking as a single for 12:00. Then I got there at 10:30 and was told that, thanks to a frost delay, they had delayed the morning start by two hours and sent all affected groups off as a shotgun, which meant that there would be soon be lap traffic on the first tee. Then why sell me the time? As it happened, I lucked out and they were able to move me to 11:00, so it was slow (4:40 round) but not unbearably so. But it seems like every time I play this course, they have some excuse for why pace of play is going to be a problem. The staff were polite and helpful in explaining my options to me (including cancellation of my pre-paid time, if that was what I wanted), so that was good, but better would have been to avoid the problem in the first place and not sell a tee time that you know is going to be unplayable.
Fontana gem
Played Sierra Lakes for the 2nd time this year. Course was in great shape. The greens were smooth and quick. The course very fair. Fairways are wide, but bunkering is strategic placed. Shot shaping and placement are key. The course course is more than your average muni but worth the drive and cost a few times a year.
