Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Masters
About
The Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club is ideal for golfers who don't feel they are prepared to take on the demanding Legends Course at the club, which has been ranked as one of the toughest courses in North America. The Masters layout is similar to golf courses in Florida, with unique bunkers and scenic ponds that meld perfectly with the rolling hills and wetlands that dot the scenic landscape. Its more traditional layout is considered the kinder and gentler of the two golf courses at Lionhead Golf & Country Club, but there are still a fair amount of challenges. The Masters course requires several long carries over water, particularly on the 16th. This infamous par 5 features a green surrounded by water.

Great time golf
Had a great time golfing great course I will be back to play it again but it is a little pricey
Best public course in Ontario
We were very impressed with our overall experience at Lionhead. We played the Masters and found it to be challenging, interesting, beautiful and in great condition. We'll definitely be back again.
Had a blast
Fun course. Choose the right tee box.
Greens are spring condition so slow for Lionhead.
We had a great time. Excellent practice putting greens, chipping greens, huge range.
The Masters is just fun. Cut through the the woods, has some elevation changes, ponds with geese, some easier shorer holes, some tricky ones, some tough buggers, island green that tempts you to go for it on a par 5. I missed and it cost me breaking 80.
Facilities are top of the line, new locker room, halfway house had a deelish smoked salmon sandwich at the turn.
People were all friendly and very helpful
Will definatley be back
Fore!!!!
Always great
I have played Lionhead many time and always find the course in berg good condition. The course is always a challenge but fair
One of my personnel favorites close to the city center
bunker 's sand
It is nice and beautiful course . The only thing I do not like is the quality of sand used for the bunkers . It is sheep and ugly . It' has to be change asap .
Great round of Golf
A last minute decision on a Holiday Monday.
great weather, course is challenging and in good condition.
The Masters is a very nice track!
Masters course at Lionhead
Pace of play is very slow considering tee off time was at 8:00!!! It took us 5 hours and 15 mins and we waited on every hole! The course conditions are very good. I believe they need to better space their tee off times.
Clubhouse
I'm somewhat disappointed in the overall course maintenance. The greens are not true and battered by beginners or golfers that don't know golf etiquette. the fairways are in fair condition.
Not what I booked
I booked the Masters course, but due to a scheduling issue I got bumped over to the Legends. It is a ridiculously difficult course layout that I would imagine is easier the third time through once you know it. They should have a guide on some tee blocks to tell you where to hit.
I wasn't happy playing it, I wanted the masters!
Ver Good
Was surprised there was no GPS with the cart. First time players encounter hidden surprises. The course was in good condition, especially the greens. I will surely play again.
disappointing
Not my first time playing lionhead but it was certainly a big let down compared to previous experiences. The greens were inconsistent and in rough shape. One green would be slow and bumpy and the next would be lighting fast. In gonna chalk it up to being early in the season for them. I'm sure they'll sort it out
A good course to play
friendly reception, course conditions pretty good for early in the season, and played as a threesome in 4.5 hrs.The changes made in the club house make it more appealing.
Poor condition
My shaggy carpet would have putted faster than these greens, and I think the hole locations had not been changed in a week
Professional
Staff is alert and ready, keeping an organized atmosphere.
Great golf course, great expeience
had a great time on golf dcourse, difficult but fair golf course.
Lionhead - Masters Course
Have always been a fan of the Lionhead courses but find the rates higher than my target price. I was recently able to advantage of a Golf Now offer and looked forward to playing The Masters Course. Unfortunately the conditions of the greens was not what I would have expected for the course. There were still markings from end of season treament and ball roll was impacted. Fairways and hazards were excellent. Sadly, Lionhead cannot control the weather and it was slightly wet.
Wait a Few more weeks!
This course used to be very nice. Tee boxes and fairways were OK for the time of year but the greens were horrendous. Also, our electric cart barely made it to the turn. We limped back to the clubhouse and swapped it. No apology. Guys acted like they were doing us a favor. Food cart had no food. No sandwiches. Just drinks and peanuts. Lots better places to play for the money.
An OK day
I played the Masters course this past weekend (first weekend in May). I was a bit disappointed with the greens, which were fairly slow and sandy. OK, I get it - it's still early in the year and course maintenance now will make the conditions great later in the year. My complaint is that the early season conditions aren't reflected in an appropriate spring rate like many other courses. Also, the pace of play was a bit slow. Almost 5 hours, but no sign of a marshall anywhere to keep the pace moving along.
Good Early Season Conditions
Greens had just been aerated and covered with sand so putting speed was very inconsistent and bumpy. Likely 3 to 4 weeks before they are smoothed out. It would have been nice to have been told either before we booked or when we got to the course. Other than this the course was in pretty good shape for early in the season. Generally good pace of play for a Sunday morning at just under 5 hours. Everything is extra, yardage books ($5.00), Driving Range($13). Usually courses at this level offer GPS and free balls on the range. Overall good course but there are many others in the area that provide as good or better offerings
Slow
Pace was very slow and there were no marshals anywhere. By the time we finished our 2.5 hour front 9, there were 4 groups on #10. We played 2 more holes and left. Not sure if it was too early in the season but the group in front of us needed education on pace of play.
