Lionhead Golf and Country Club - Masters
About
The Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club is ideal for golfers who don't feel they are prepared to take on the demanding Legends Course at the club, which has been ranked as one of the toughest courses in North America. The Masters layout is similar to golf courses in Florida, with unique bunkers and scenic ponds that meld perfectly with the rolling hills and wetlands that dot the scenic landscape. Its more traditional layout is considered the kinder and gentler of the two golf courses at Lionhead Golf & Country Club, but there are still a fair amount of challenges. The Masters course requires several long carries over water, particularly on the 16th. This infamous par 5 features a green surrounded by water.

could be great
Too slow...this course would be top ranked if they speed up play.
lionhead
Course is in great shape but this time of year ( fall) the leaves in some of the fairways and most of the greens make it hard to find your ball that's where slow play comes in other then that enjoyed playing the course
Golf Now Bargain
This course is an excellent place to try out every club in the bag, especially the driver. You will find many opportunities to hit the ball long, short and high. If you like to play the ball on a hill, that is there as well. As for the water and other hazards; yes, the 16th in particular can be daunting. All in all, a very pleasant course to challenge your skill set on any level and a very scenic journey.
Masters - good course, but could be GREAT!
My impression of Lionhead has always been mixed because I know that it could be a GREAT course, but there's always something about it that leaves me disappointed. This time it was the conditions of the greens, which in my opinion is the most important part of the playing field. It might be nearing the end of the season, but as a highly regarded golf club, there's no excuse for not keeping it in top notch! I most likely will try it again and hopefully it'll be a GREAT course the next time around.
Cheers,
Tony
Boys round out
Course was in good shape for October, greens were super tough due to hard pin placements but all in all was a great track and I will definitely be back!

Lionhead Masters Course
Not sure it could have been a better day. The weather was perfect. The course was for the most part in very good shape. The front nine greens were top dressed and this made for some speed variations . The pace of play was very good. Staff was pleasant. The bag drop was well run, shuttle from parking area was fast and carts were labelled with our names. All in all a good experience.
Extremely Slow Pace
Every thing was great. The weather, the course,
It was busy which is normal. We had to leave before
the 12th hole because we were already 4 hours and 15 minutes in. I wasn't expecting to be spending 6 hours playing golf. It was not easy waiting most holes 10 minutes before teeing off.
It's hard waiting that long.
great course but slow play
The course is in wonderful condition and challenging.
However, the pace of play was ridiculous, almost 6 hrs to play and the marshalls unresponsive or not caring.
A real damper on a fine layout.........
Nice course
It's a really nice course but it does not justiify regular rates. I got a great deal price. I am surprised and disappointed that the golf carts are not equipped with GPS devices
Great course
The course was in good condition, somewhat disappointed with unavailability of the snack bar early in the morning.
Staff was courteous.
Sunday On Legands
1st time on Legands, course was soaked after hard morning rain, cart path only. The greens were still very fast , but seemed thin and had seen a lot of traffic even though I am sure it wasn't from this day. Pace was great hardly saw any other golfers. We had to fill up the ball washer on our cart as we received it empty and there are no ball washers on the course. Only saw the Cart girl on the 3rd hole then again on the 15th, would have liked to see her a couple more times. We had an enjoyable day
review
This was a great course but ensure to be ontime, the marshal is strict
Played the blues but should of played the whites
I have played the Legends course twice and this was the first time playing the Masters. I actually enjoyed this more than the Legends. Both courses are quite difficult but I prefer the Masters as it was not as challenging. I was paired up with 3 guys who played from the blues. I shot 97. I normally score high 80's/low nineties. They did not shoot much better than me.....tee it forward on this course!!!
Help the Greens Please
The Greens were like walking on the Moon
more crater size divits then greens.
I have not played many courses but the greens were pathetic the day I was there.
Good Luck
Challenging Course; great round
No really easy holes here; there are 2 courses. Greens are quick and not easy to read or putt on. Not tons of flat lies on fairways. When cold and windy, the course plays quite long.
Nice, but not worth premium price
I had played the Legends course twice and decided to give the Masters a try. My impression was it is a nice course, but definitely not a premium. Good layout, fairly straight forward. Much easier than the Legends. For the price though, I would rather play the other course. Better views and challenge.
horo
Very bad and no good And not properly managed
no Marshall was there .I played 2:30minutes only 6 holl .no thanks again.
will not be returning. One of the worst days out.
Lionhead did not live up to the hype that I was anticipating. When we arrived we were put immediately behind a tournament, so tee time was delayed and overall pace of play was slow. Seeing how we had a twilight, I felt very rushed as we tried to make it before sunset. On top of that, a twosome behind us were pushing us to the point where they were driving while we were on the fairway still. One hole, their ball hit our golf cart while we were still on the fairway. There was NO snack cart girl the entire round and no information to let us know that there will be no snack cart girl out so that we could buy our drinks from the clubhouse. I suffered from heat stroke and dehydration and was dizzy by the end of the round seeing how we were playing in 30+ degree temp..had to take the day off work the next day..what was even worse was the fact that we entered the clubhouse at the end of the round to try to speak with someone and the gentleman at the front desk did not offer us any tap water or anything, even asking "you look bad man"............yeah......at that point we just wanted to get home and leave this godforsaken course. So will not be returning and will tell my friends that they were wrong about this so called 'one of the best in Ontario' courses.
