Not a bad course.

While traveling, I had the opportunity to get in a round at the TRGC. The staff was accommodating, but not overly enthusiastic. I rented clubs and the round and purchased a box of balls (just in case) and total was $220. Rentals were $85 of this as well as $50 being balls. So in contrast, golf was roughly $65 excluding tax. It was booked through GolfNow app and this means you don’t get range balls in your cart prior to your round. If not booked through GolfNow, it would’ve been $104+. So they are charging $20 to have range balls on cart. This seems high to me. Rental clubs don’t have a brush and hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I had to borrow another player’s brush to clean out the grooves. They were decent clubs, but would benefit from having a $5 brush on bag. They also hold your credit card at the pro shop while you’re on the course for the rentals. I don’t travel with multiple cards so no provisions made there for beverages or snack from cart. Now onto the positive. The tees, fairways, bunkers, and greens were in great condition and played very well. The course does have some interesting layouts and challenges, but first timers can score 90 or below fairly easily. I would play it again, but would travel with my own clubs to play.

Best in DFW Area

This course was absolutely amazing and beautiful. First time playing here but will definitely return. Challenging yet fairly open and easy to read greens.

Cassie in the bar area was amazing and super friendly. Great looking clubhouse. Best course I’ve played at in the DFW area

Course is in Great Shape

When passing the course on the way to the entrance I couldn't help but notice how green the fairways and tee boxes were. The practice is fantastic. They have a huge range and short game area. The pro shop is well stocked and the restaurant is amazing.

Sad to see it

5th or 6th time playing this course and it has always been in great shape, but the condition is appalling right now. Scorched fairways. Dirt lies around many green collars. And worst yet - all 18 greens were mowed with a non-level mower that absolutely destroyed the greens with parallel scarring lines. Criminal and a shame - someone either didn’t give a ****, was incompetent or put much whiskey in their coffee.

I know we’re in a drought but Tennison Highlands is in 10x better shape (played it day before) and a public (albeit different city and possible different water policies).

Pace of play was bad. No Marshall. Group in front of us got food at turn (fine) but then proceeded to get drinks from cart girl on 10 tee-box giving up a 1.5 hole gap and never closing it. 4.75 hour round.

I wouldn’t pay more than $50 given current situation but will come back in the Fall as I love the layout.

Extremely dissapointed.

Disappointed. Played on a weekday. Total was $97 (including about $10 for my wife to ride along in a seat that would have been empty otherwise.) Course was OK (some greens had damage), but really just a glorified muni with a big league team name tacked on.....nothing special. At this price point, there should be a starter, a marshal or two, a beverage cart or two.....there were none of these. With about 6 holes to go, I got stuck behind a foursome who each would hit it about 80 yards, go all the way back to their cart (cart path only), get another club and then go hit it another 80 yards. They would not acknowledge me. The last 6 holes took longer than the first 12. A marshal could have helped with this. Also, no ball washers or trash cans on holes.....and the GPS system is full of annoying advertisements. I won't be back. Too many good coursed in the area at 1/2 or 1/3 of this price.

Sand paradise

Course is bright and green and just in fabulous shape! Clubhouse is not complete but looking good! Personally would like to see some of the pave-stones and artifacts from the old stadium placed around the clubhouse and facility. The first part of the course is very challenging and it kind of levels out. The thing they like the most is sandy bunkers. I guess that goes with the baseball theme but they are everywhere. Fun course will definitely be back. Staff is great-very helpful. There are many views that are photo ops including a large emblem at the entrance.

Conditions deteriorating

My friends and I like the course a lot. But the condition of the course is getting bad. They just haven't done enough to keep up during the hot summer. If they don't get it together quickly, strong ratings for this course will be a thing of the past.

Overpriced but fun course.

I enjoyed my round of golf today at this course. The staff was wonderful, cart girls came around multiple times and course played really well. We played twilight for $65 and honestly I feel like that should be the starting price for the morning tee times. I don't see where the extra money playing for a round here is going towards. I feel like you are paying for the theme of it being a "Texas Rangers" golf course. Other than the price, I really enjoyed this course. The greens were nice and reactive to approach shots.

Great course... Play before clubhouse is finished and price goes up!

This is a great track to play. Room for error but very challenging. Some of the best greens in this part of town and I would recommend playing before the finish all the ammenities as this will be up there with Cowboys when it's done.

What Happened??

Played earlier today - 4th or 5th time since February - lay-out is fabulous but current conditions are very worrisome, especially for a course opened only 8 month ago - loads of bare patch on and around greens - condition of many of the fairways very poor, considering this should play well in hot weather - hard to justify the $120 rate for out of towners - hard to swallow as an Arlington resident, when all I hear from civic leaders is how Arlington is the sports capital of the nation - gonna get hurt patting yourselves on the back folks - pay attention to this potential gem as if Jerry Jones or Bob Simpson (owners of Cowboys & Rangers) were calling

Better Than Cowboys. Not walker recommended (to hilly)

no permanent clubhouse yet. course was in great shape.

only negative: the starter could do a tad better job of observation and then get ahead of a problem before it develops. saw the group that tee'd off 1 had not hit there 2nd shots on 1 (still within in full view of starter.) after almost 10 min had past he should have drove up to them had them wait and let group number 2 go then group 1 can resume. our group skipped them while they where poke assing around on 3. by the time we made the turn 3 other groups had past them. for 120 i do not like skipping holes. but no one likes 6 hr golf. Starters and Marshall's should do better at pace management. for the price im not saying ride someone's butt. but if a group is taking 10 min between shots that is when they need to step in and tell them to pick up the pace.

overall best golfing experince i have ever had. i have been to country clubs that cost more and i have never felt this welcomed and treated this nicely. can not wait to go back when the clubhouse is open and fully stocked

Great experience

I never played Chester Ditto, which is this course’s predecessor. But I can say that I will be back. Everything about this place shows future promise. The layout was really cool, the staff was very friendly, and there’s lots of elevation change which is unnatural for Arlington. The green complexes are very tricky and if you’re not a good putter you will struggle. It’s summer in Texas, and this course is new, but it was impossible to get a tee in the ground on multiple tee boxes. And the beverage cart did not have a good selection of premium liquor or non “Coors Light” beers, which for $100+ green fee, you would expect as a bare minimum. But those are minor nit picks. Cowboys GC and Texas Star should look out, because this place is a real contender. When the clubhouse is built I would expect it to be on that level.

good track

this is the 3rd or 4th time playing the course. The track is great with many different types of holes. The greens were pretty firm and quick. Fairways were great. Some of the greens were too firm but overall a great track.

Great new/renovated course

Overall is a 5!

Course condition is a four due to some greens has dead/yellow/dried big spots but over great!

Good amenities, hope it gets better when the club house is finished (under construction).

Today green was slow but not terrible; which can be attributed as a normal cycle.

We saw the cart girl 3 times, 2 if you don't count the first hole. So, you are well taken care of on that front.

Small cooler with 4 waters and ice already in it!

New carts with head lights! got some style to it too.

Use of range is included in the green fee, so come early and warm up. Range also has aiming stick. Practice are large and great! 3 chipping greens and 2 putting greens.

Undulating fairway and greens. I will not be surprise if some serious tour be held here.

If they can match the restaurant service with Cowboys golf club, it will be terrific!

However, that would have raisen the green fee too much. Current fee is decent if you are Arlington resident and Frequent club players, high if not.

(Room for improvements: need shoe brushes, air blowers/hoses to clean up after a round, club washer at the range, restaurant level food (already mentioned or may already under construction))

I will be coming back for more!

Immediate rise toward the top

Forget anything about the old Chester Ditto course except the man himself and the commitment of the city to public golf for decades. The partnership between the city and the Rangers ball club has created one of the great golf setups in DFW. This comes at a healthy price so be prepared. But, forget about cost on the way to the range and great practice area and soak in everything that says “great golf”. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because there are just a few things to work through being such a new course. The greens are very true and super smooth. Maybe it was all the recent rain or the newness but they are slower than they should be. Putts start out great and then the “sticky” texture grinds things to a halt. Hopefully they can get to where they can cut them short and still maintain the healthy conditions of the grass. Second is some of the pin placements. As with real championship greens there are some serious undulations that create plateaus and slopes. Placing the pin in the middle of a serious slope makes it difficult for all but the very best players. There would seem to be ways to find multiple locations all over each green without finding the “most” difficult spots. Maybe save that for tournaments. Otherwise, the course is off to a great start on what should be a great future.

played today and the talk of the group was pin placement.

greens where excellent and rolled good, had good pace. but they can be in much easier positions if no tourney going on.

Spot on review. Didn’t have time to check out the practice green, and was astonished by the slow speed given the overall appearance and quality of the course. Pin placement was also challenging, but the slow greens made it more forgiving. If they speed up the greens, I for one would greatly appreciate a few more pedestrian hole locations.

New Texas Rangers GC rounds all the bases

There is nothing I didn't love about this course. The style, the firm and fast conditions, the variety of holes, the change of elevation, the bunkers, the greens – all of it is outstanding. Colligan Golf Design with John Colligan and lead associate Trey Kemp, created a course to replace the old Ditto municipal that had been here since 1982, and they really did hit a home run.

While the Texas Rangers theme probably will never quite grab folks like Dallas Cowboys football motif at Cowboys Club does up in nearby Grapevine, it's every bit as good a golf course, and in many ways more enjoyable. First off, the fairways are very generous, so it's very playable. And the ball rolls out, and who doesn't like a little extra distance off the tee? The holes are all different and memorable, from the shortest -- the 132-yard par-3 seventh, which has the course's largest green and bunker – to the longest, the 605-yard ninth.

From the tips at 7,010 yards, it is certainly capable of hosting big tournaments, like the Arlington City Amateur, which will be played there this year. And when they get the clubhouse built, which will feature Texas Rangers memorabilia, this place will really be special.

Practice facilities are also outstanding with a practice hole, full grass range and short game area.

One of the coolest features is that as you wait to make it to the first tee, you can hit a few practice drives while you wait your turn at the On Deck circle, an circular area featuring the Texas Rangers logo.

And who knows? You might even see a visiting ballplayer or two this baseball season on that circle. Like batting practice, it'd be fun just watching them launch a few.
