Long ! interesting holes !
Only question I have is : Why is the slope for red tees 112? This is a very long course (nearly 5700 yds. for reds) with 370 yd par 4's !, yet the slope and rating are low.I like my h'cap to reflect the true difficulty. I was pretty pleased wirh my 93 (I am a 19 h'cap) but it did not lower my h'cap.
Greens are cushy and smooth. Fairways good. Layout makes you think (back nine) .Recommend it !
enough challenge
The front nine although quite flat has its share of difficulty with long holes. The back has more interesting holes with lots of challenge. i am not a great golfer but enjoyed the challenges of this course. The fairways and greens were in good shape. The clubhouse did not entice us to stay and the staff in the pro shop was not over welcoming. Perhaps the heat of the day was too much for them?
Back nine awesome
Absolutely love the challenge of the back nine. Not to mention, it looks beautiful.
Under the radar
Owner was extremely helpful. I was early for my tee time and he went out of his way to get me on the course sooner.
The course itself is fairly straightforward in design. It's not overly interesting save for one or two holes, but the conditions are very good.
I am surprised that I have heard very little about this course, although it seems well known to the locals.
Challenging Course
Course was long and challenging. Rough was sometimes difficult to get out of. Enjoyed this course!
enjoyed the course
course was in very good condition, greens were a little on the slow side. the front 9 is very flat but water hazards make it necessary to find the Hazard markers as most of the water is not visible from the tee blocks. The back 9 I found very interesting, placement is critical
A Very Underated Course
This is one of the better handful courses in the area. It took me a while to appreciate the course but what I enjoy most is that both nines offer two differently objectives; the front nine plays long, guarded by flat tree lines and small hazards where as the back nine offers scoring holes.
Another thing I do appreciate about Riverview is that the course is well kept and the pride does show in the tee boxes, greens, manicured plants and trees.
Now with kind the introduction out of the way, I will honestly mention that the course is protected by thick rough, slow and small greens on both sides nines. Be prepared to putt firmly on true rolling greens and test your lob game. I find with the thick rough, ground level, small and slow greens that lobbing is preferable over delicate chip shots. Also, be prepared for quirky stances and lies but other that, cheers!
Way to drive the green on 18 Maureen;)
Just Average
I do not think that this course is being maintained very well Fairways are not that nice and greens are just OK. The sand traps are horrible.
I got a very good deal on Golfnow so it made things better but I would not pay more than $30 all in with a cart to play this course.
front flat, back hilly
Great spot for a reasonable round of golf on a course that is very well kept. Front and back nine like two different courses.
Beautiful Course & Great Hosts
Recently played at a Tournament event and found the event and facility was well organized and our hosts were very welcoming. Steak dinner & buffet were excellent. Golf course was in great condition will a wide variety holes. Back 9 is especially pretty with the river running through it.
Great value
Can't beat the price course was in great shape can't wait to go again
Great Option for Golf - worth playing
I've played this course many times. It's an enjoyable experience. I have to say the course conditions and layout are average. The course has changed ownership since I played it many yeasr ago and the conditions and greens are getting better all the time. The Staff are very friendly nice people and even though the clubhouse is far from high end the food is good and above average for a golf course.
A agree with some of the other reviews that the back 9 is far superior to the front. Hole 11 is one of the toughest par 3s in the Region. Hole 12 is the most interesting and thought provoking hole on the course. So many ways to play it. Play it smart, birdie chance play it wrong, double bogey is in play.
The condition of the course is not pristine like the Super high end courses in Niagara. They are average, that's not a knock. The value for money here is awesome. I got a great deal on GolfNow. As a single, $20 with a cart. Are you kidding me? Even the regular rate is reasonable.
I'd be happy to play this course anytime.
Operatours of course are organized and wonderful
One can't bet the service both in the pro shop and club house ..... very professional and very helpful .. try to play course after a rain as at times can dry out .... The par 4"s play very tough .....
Fairways where excellent
Play here a few years ago. Hasn't changed much. The fairways and greens where excellent.
Very good course with a great hole design balance
Very good course not easy but not crazy. Front nine has some very long holes but with great wide and flat fairways. The greens are all very smooth in excellent condition. Best deals to play this course is definitely from GOLFNOW.
A Tale of 2 Nines
Front 9 is pretty flat and wide open but has some challenges with water hazards and 3 Par-5s. Back 9 is much nicer with lots of contour and more scenic setting.
Riverview
We enjoyed the course. It HAS TWO DISTINCT NINES, ONE ON EITHER SIDE OF Victoria AVENUE. THE FRONT NINE IS LONGER THAN THE BACK NINE, BUT THE BACK NINE IS MUCH MORE DIFFICULT WITH WATER EVERYWHERE. GET AN EXTRA SLEEVE OF BALLS BEFORE YOU CROSS THE ROAD TO PLAY THE BACK NINE
Nice course
The course was descent. The clubhouse looks a little run down. I didn't eat there so I couldn't tell you abut the food
Greens are in great condition
Course is fun to play. Front nine a little flat, but the back nine has some nice changes in grade and mmakes you think a little more. Staff always ready to help when you ask.
First Timer
Loved the fact that the round was under 4 hours. Two different nines. Decent course for the money we paid.
