Roy Kizer Golf Course
About
This is a 36-hole city-owned operation that features one of Austin's best muni tracks, the Roy Kizer Golf Course, which complements the 1970s Jimmy Clay layout.
Austin's old water treatment facility was transformed by Randy Russell, who had more than 80 acres of lakes and marshland at his disposal when he laid out the 200-acre site. Russell's links-style design is flat, burdened by the wind, and loaded with bunkers. The toughest par is No. 11, which rolls 468 yards into the wind and is shamefully listed as a par 4. Take your bogey on No. 11.

This is Andy. He's in sales and is somehow always 'working' when we're playing golf. He can almost never be tagged on a Facebook golf course check-in during a weekday. He's 'working.' So here's proof that he was out with us playing golf yet again. :) Photo submitted by GordonATX on 09/08/2018

Great winter condition Photo submitted by jimpham on 01/07/2017
very spotty grass on the greens made for a very bumpy and waggled roll
the clubhouse offered a discount because the conditions but couldn't give it to our group because we paid online through GN:-(((
THE GREENS WERE REALLY THE BIGGEST PROBLEM!!!(
Meh, What did you expect?
Average day at the golf course. Tee to green was in pretty good shape, but the greens were in lousy shape. The greens had as much sand as the bunkers. Pace of play was surprisingly quick for a muni on Sunday afternoon, but I'm sure it was because most people already knew about the problem with the greens. We were warned before our round that our cart might not make the full round. Sure enough, it quit on us after 11 holes. The good news is we have learned to lower our expectations at Clay/Kizer.
Greens are in poor condition
Other than the greens, the course is in excellent conditions. The greens have a lot of dead spots.
Roy Kizer was fun but challenging for us duffers.
Enjoyed this short course despite its many water traps. They need to stick the water on the course or send out a drinks cart!
Greens were in terrible shape
Normally love the course but the greens were awful. I would of appreciated a heads up before I paid $50 to play on nonputtable greens.
Awesome!!
Fairways, greens in awesome shape, staff very friendly, highly recommended!!
Greens are in HORRIBLE shape
Staff has managed to lose the greens for the foreseeable future. The green at Kiizer have been great in the past, but they are a little patchy grass and mostly just sand. This isn’t simply that they have been aerated as indicated on the ap. Sadly, they are in the worst shape I have ever seen on Kizer.
Home
Always good! Fairways, rough and traps excellent. Greens spotty. Cart girls!!! Clubhouse and pro shop staff are like family. Don and I will be back...duh.
