Royal Ontario Golf Club
About
Royal Ontario Golf Club sprawls across gentle hillsides blanketed in mature trees and thick fescue. Formerly a stable, the course features large meadows and dense groves of trees that frame the fairways and greens. The layout has a more traditional, links design that features occasional water hazards, most notably on the par-5 ninth and 18th holes that share a large lake, but the tree-covered hills are the true challenge of the golf course. Although there are many difficult elements on this course, five sets of tees make it accessible for players of all skill levels. Royal Ontario Golf Club is often compared to the Masters Course at Lionhead Golf & Country Club.

Royal Ontario
Great course and conditions were good. Staff is extremely professional and friendly.
Thanks Maril5912506!
Pace of play
Started the front nine great. Pace of play was very good. Finished in 2 hours. Back nine different story. Group in front was very slow ( at least two open holes ahead) Waited on tee box and in between shots 10 minutes a shot. Finished nine in 3 hours.

Will let Cal our golf pro know about this. Thanks for the feedback
Great local course
Played with my brother-in-law on a Saturday and the course was beautiful. Fairways were in excellent condition. Greens rolled true and breaks were tricky to read especially near water.
Great staff and the marshals did an excellent job checking pace.
Well worth the money and so close to home
A fun course to play
Enjoyed the course, will definitely return
Thanks for the feedback!
enjoyable
Played June 2 early morning. There was a tournament scheduled for noon and course was not busy. Play moved along nicely and the conditions perfect. The fairways are in very good shape and the greens were rolling quick and true. The ground staff were busy on the course but very accommodating and stopped when we were on the tee or hitting shots. I really like this course - it's always in good to great shape and the staff are polite and friendly. I played the White tees since it was my first round of the season, but if you really want a challenge play the Blue tees. The Gold and Black tees are for low handicappers and professionals.
I recommend this course.
Pace of play
There were not many players on the course, but we were all forced to wait starting on 1st because Mr. Kaneff went out golfing with his group and slowed down play. Maybe it is a local rule that we, the paying customers, were not made aware of, but I am sure that the marshals would have reprimanded any "regular" group for slow play.
Great Course
I've played this course a few times and it seems to be as challenging the first time as it is the 10th, Highly recommend this course to any type of golfer.
Shocking
I have played Royal Ontario at least 25 times in 2014 and 2015 seasons. It's on our regular rotation and is usually in great shape. Our first round in 2016 was SHOCKING.....greens were a disaster. Course in general was in poor shape. Tee boxes and areas around the greens were weedy and needed to be trimmed....all in all I have NEVER seen the course in worse shape. New head pro seems nice and staff is always great but I'm not sure why the maintenance was in such poor shape?? Really shocked as to what is normally an incredible golf course.
Good course
It is a goof course challenge one in good condition. The staff are friendly and you do not need to Waite if you are single to join another group if the course is not very busy.
Great Public Golf Course
One of the best public golf courses in the world in terms of value for money, staff friendliness, well-maintained greens, and course layout. Highly recommended for new and intermediate golfers.
Good condition at this time of the year
The course was very dry and good condition considering we had wet snow and freezing rain just 3 days ago.
This course has really great .
enjoyable from the first tee to the nineteenth hole
Royal Ontario
For time I played golf on Dec 24 in Ontario.
The course was in good condition, but greens were unkept and bumpy. Cannot complain for Dec 24.
Course was busy. pace was good.
Even bettter.
I played this course on Sunday, the 29th of December and I have to tell you it was great. I didn't play all that well, but there were many opportunities to get some satisfaction out of my clubs and the course, and some of them realised. It being the end of the season,I didn't shy from the big water, and other than the occasional drop, I made it over with whatever I needed. If you battle a slice, as I do, you may want to just lay up on to the fairway to get into the open before griping and ripping with a wood on a few of the holes, but other than that it is an extremely fun place to play.
Great Fall Golf
Given the time of Year, the course was in good condition. Some greens were a bit sandy, but this is Fall golf.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
