This can be a challenging course.
Once we moved to the other side of the highway, my game went down hill fast. It’s very unforgiving with very little room for error. Bring lots of balls if you tend to hook a little.
Not a walkers delight
Rough is drying up, but the greens and fairways are still in good shape.
If you are a walker, there are better layouts for you elsewhere. Far too many hikes from green to tee. If you ride, no worries.
Too much fescue on back, very slow, bring lots of balls
First seven holes are good, last three are good rest have way too much fescue definitely designed by a different guy than the IST seven will not play there again too many friendly courses available
Enjoyed the layout
The course is maintained very well, bunkers are raked, the sand is soft and easy to play out of. Fairways and greens in good shape.
The only issue is on the first tee, range balls are in the fairway and first cut on the right hand side, some are white, others are yellow, you really need to focus on where your ball lands!
This does slow down the pace of play!
Value for money
Although not overly happy with layout but the course conditions were excellant considering all the rain we had over the weekend
Almost there?
I was returning to the course for the first time since the course had made changes. Some of the new layout is really nice and enjoyable to play.
Where I believe this course has work to do is on the green to be honest I am no grass expert but play enough to know that roll on the green is important.
Every green was very soft and produce very little roll and this makes reading the green and how hard to hit your puitts or chips very difficult and if your on the green in two or three shots , making par or birdie almost impossible.
Great course
I love playing doon. It’s always great and usually never too busy. Greens were great and well kept.
Great Value
First time golfing at Doon. Challenging and well kept course. Great Value especially for being a city course. I will be back.
i used a cart
and 3 buddies walked. glad i took a cart as some looooong distances between maybe 4 or 5 holes.marshall on course was friendly and visible,, starter was friendly, pro shop staff friendly.
Slow Saturday
I had booked a tee time for 4:16pm on Sat. May 26, 2018. We had gotten to the starter area where you check your carts in right before the first tee box and there were two amateur groups ahead of us, a group of four and another of two. They were openly amateur and let us all know. After watching all of their tee shots go no further than 5o yards, we mentioned to the Marshall in the tent about how myself and my other golfer thought we would be waiting awhile for these amateur golfers to play a hole. We were hoping that he would direct play like rule number 5 on the score cards said and tell them to let us play through, but he instantly shut us down and said he can’t do anything about it. Maybe recommending at your course that amateurs play the 9 hole course to allow experienced golfers to play through with ease would be good. Or not booking so many people so close together on weekends. Something should be done about the pace of play.
Not Bad
Course was decent for the first 6 holes and the last few. The holes on the other side of the 401 were meh. Wouldn’t rave or rule out this course based on conditions, pace of play, and layout.
Nice course, slow pace
Mid day round, wasn’t by any means a busy day, albeit it was beautiful out. Spent 2 and a half hours on the front 9. Ended up merging with two indivudal group ones, one of which had a tee time an hour after us. Two groups in front of us (a 2 and a 3) held everyone up. The 2 in front of us didn’t look like they knew a whole lot about golf, didn’t let anyone through. Marshall’s were out but clearly not monitoring the pace.
Nice course, definitely challenges you if you have trouble with keep your drive straight. I would play again but the marshalls need to do a better job keeping the pace up!
smooth pace to play
played with wife as walking, the weather was perfect
and very smooth pace to play for 4 hrs.
It was lovely and perfect day for us.
Thank you so much !!
Good municipal value
Good condition and course overall for being muni city course. Longg walk from the tips but not too much elevation. Great natural landscape , which means lots of OB so bring a lot of balls.
