Good Hot Deal!
Booked a hot deal on Golfnow. Well worth the money. Course was in very good shape. Starter was a little snippy... not use to weilding so much power, I guess.
Great course for your money..
Enjoyed this course. First time playing here, we walked but next time will take a cart a lot of walking between some holes. I would recommend this course.
Soon Valley
Nice course but a long walk between holes. I waked about 6 mile according to the iPhone.
Nice course layout. Will play again.
The old and the new.
There are 27 holes. The classic 9 consisting of 9 holes from the original course, and the Doon 18 consisting of 9 holes from the original course combined with 9 new holes. The 9 original tree lined holes I had played in the past, and the 9 new holes were more links style with water coming into play on many of the holes, along with increased challenge. Positioning the ball from the tee was the key, more than distance. I would not recommend these links holes to golfers who like to walk, as you may have trouble keeping up with golfers riding carts. There are a number of long walks from the green to the next tee. Other than that, a fair mix of old with the new.
Love the great features of the course
Love the course would play it again
Challenging course
The new Doon 18 is a fun challenge for even the most seasoned weekend warrior. Holes 8-15 feel like a completely different course from the others. Pace of play was horrendous, tee times are far too close together. All in all a good course, and a recommended play
Enjoyed the game, but the pace was SLOW
walked the first holes at a great pace booked a cart and the pace became SLOW because a small group were playing, the marshall did his job, enjoyed the game, because the weather was great and my partner was fun to play with.
Less Value Than Expected
After our clubhouse lunch and before even playing, my playing partner ripped his arm on the broken fire alarm cover which was hanging down in the hallway with a Please Do Not Touch sign on it. This was reported to the Pro Shop where the attendant just shrugged with indifference. Further, the washroom urinals were dirty and stunk of urine. $19 for each person for a cart rental or $38 total is too steep a price for a basic cart with no distance technology. The course layout is acceptable but the constant din of 401 traffic on many of the holes is disturbing. The greens were quite good. In summary, other than the Fire Code violation, Health and Safety violation and the exorbitant cost of the cart rental, it was an ok experience.
Long Distances Between Holes
This golf course is well maintained and has some quite beautiful scenic views on its holes. Challenges include hitting across water and waste areas. I would strongly recommend renting a power cart. Otherwise you will tire yourself out lugging your clubs between the holes. The distances are huge. I estimate these added about 50% to the total course length.
bring your wallet
The course is in good shape but they need to brush up on the same day replay offers. We paid for golf, some beverages and food, so we asked what the price is to go out and play 9 more...FULL PRICE !!! we left immediately.
excellent course
As a first time visit to Doon Valley i was totally impressed with the staff, course conditions, layout and excellent electric carts.
course conditions on many courses this year were tough due to the lack of rain but here at DValley it hard to notice any brown at all. Tee boxes and greens were fabulous. Layout was a good challenge with a great finishing hole.
Marshall John was helpful in guiding me to shelter in a sudden storm and provided some great course tips. Rudy? the starter was friendly and set me off early. As a single, a local member Cam was able to play first 4 holes and offered much guidance. All helpful on my shooting a low score of 80!
Finally...take a cart as holes are seperated by a lot of walking! Will definately play again.
6 hour round
The course was in great shape. Sadly 2 par 3's in the first 4 holes jammed all the groups up. I had to leave after 16 holes (5 hr 45 min) into our round. Sadly, this took away from the course condition, which was great. If you can get out on a slow day on the course Doon Valley has bang for its buck.
Doon Valley
Beautiful Course. Some narrow fairways that are bounded by a lot of environmentally sensitive foliage. As a result, consider your ball lost if it goes into this area. Must hit it straight. For this reason, I think the slope shoulds be higher than it is. There is distance between some greens and the next tee, so consider a cart if you are not used to walking.
good value and pace
Got a Hot deal . Tee-off was on time and played in just over 4 hours . Conditions were good too . No issues , a nice day on the course for great value .
Great Value at the Right Price
Municipal golf course done pretty darn good. Lot's don't like the "new" holes on this track and there are sure a couple that kick my rear end pretty regularly but the course is conveniently located, has good variety of holes and is in at least as good condition as other public courses in the area. In fact, the greens at Doon 18 are in better shape and rolling better than several "high end" public courses in the area (that means you Rebel Creek).
Fabulous Hot Buy deals are available.
Quick Round
We teed off at 4:30 and finished at 7:55 and walked. Excellent pace. The course is very dry due to the lack of rain and the rough is brown hard pan..... Fairways are still green but starting to brown

IT WAS A GOOD COURSE TO PLAY
Beautiful riverfront course
A fairly forgiving course with predominantly wide open fairways that winds along the shores of the Grand River. It was difficult not to be distracted by all the bird life! Tree swallows in nesting boxes, red-winged blackbirds in the wetlands, trumpeter swans on the river, and a bald eagle soaring overhead. The extremely elevated green on 18 is quite the finale.
Rent a cart
Rent a cart because the distance between holes is large and there are some slopes to walk.
Course has enviromental sensitive areas, you can not retrieve lost balls without doing damage to natural animal habitates.
Each hole was a different challenge
The wide range of challenges that this course presents to you enhances the experience
