Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club
About
Carved from 200 acres of mature forest along the Holland River just 40 minutes from downtown Toronto, Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club provides a scenic round reminiscent of those found in either Florida or the Carolinas. Neighbored by native wetlands, the golf course features water hazards on 12 holes. There are also treacherous, well placed bunkers coming into play on every hole. The par-3 third hole is notably challenging, in addition to being flanked by bunkers, it also requires a carry over a pond. Silver Lakes Golf & Country Club also features a unique seven-acre aqua driving range as well as three chipping and putting greens.

Quite challenging in places. The area is well covered in old trees and lakes.
Definitely worth playing. The pace was good 4.15 hours. Enjoyed the round - will be back.
fantastic course but greens disappointing
maybe the most challenging and beautiful public courses ever... on this day, however, the greens were in unusually poor condition even for this time of year... difficult to read the pace/speed of the greens - grass was long making the greens very slow... never the less, will definitely be back like many times before - hopeful the greens to return to usual pristine form before long! P.S. call and inquire as to greens conditions - reserve prudently
Thank you for your feedback "stick4ever" and sorry to hear that the pace of the greens weren't as quick as you like. Similar to many other courses in the area we had a challenging spring with a particularly hot/dry season thus far. I played myself yesterday May 27th and the greens are now in great shape and increased speed. Hope to see you back at the club soon with nothing but 2-putts!
Good Shape
For the time of year, the course was in very good shape. The greens were slow, but, we were advised of that prior to teeing off. Some were a little bumpy...but, overall in very good shape for this time of year. The fairways and tee boxes were in very goods shape.
It was a very good value since the price included the cart.
I've golfed there many times and shall return.
Thank you for your feedback "Garyspec" much appreciated. The greens have come around significantly in the last couple of weeks and are close to mid-season form. For consistency purposes we had a few (2) greens that were slower to come around and rather than rush them and risk having poor turf conditions the remainder of the season. Hope to see you out at the club soon!
Good condition, moderate challenge
I have played this course several times over the last 20 years, always from the white tees. I am not a long hitter.
Silver Lakes is flat and always in good condition. It plays just over 6000 yards from the white tees. Challenge comes from some narrow fairways, some water, some bunkering, and some narrow greens that demand an accurate approach shot. Some greens have significant breaks, but the greens were pretty slow this May - early in season to be cutting them short.
It is pretty reliable - good shape, good reception, reasonable challenge. Not a hard course, but not too easy for the average golfer. Mature trees separate holes, but you are often not too far from other golfers.
Driving range is into a lake and is always windy. Weakest feature of the course.
First hole is a shortish 4 to warm up; keep the driver in the bag.
Second hole has water before the green; might want to keep the driver in the bag.
Third is a par 3 over water; centre of green is protected by a difficult bunker. You might want to play to either side of the green; long can be woods. (Par 3s are not long.)
Fourth bends left, so you need to control your driver. Narrow green is tough to hit.
Thanks for the feedback "spoxox" and for the detailed outline of your experience. Glad to hear that you've enjoyed yourself and hope to see you back at the club soon!
disappointed
I have played here a couple times over the last couple years. But have been disappointed with the quality of the course. Now in there defence I have been going to them early in the season when it is the best value so that could explain why there course is in such poor shape. This year they had 2 temporary greens and if I remember correctly they had a couple of temp greens last year too. Today is May 16th I have played 9 rounds since April 24th and they were by far the worse. I wish them luck and hope the course comes around when the weather gets better. I'll be reconsidering playing there again. Especially if its early in the season.
The course is coming around and all of the greens are in play. Nice to have some rain the last week or so and course is rounding into form. Love to have you back and are sure that you will find the conditions to your liking.
Proshop Staff
greens are poor
great course play it alot but wont go back for a while, greens are awful and will need time.
They're coming around. No temporary greens and the more seasonable weather has everything filled in. Hope to see you back at the club soon!
Nice course
Needs a couple more weeks to be in good
condition.
Thanks for playing Alkarim. Course is shaping up and have some great holiday rates available this Victoria Day weekend. Look forward to having you out again soon!
Silver lakes
Course is winter state still... Imagine will be much nicer once gets to mid season... Very playable for players of all levels.
Course is coming around with some more consistent and seasonable temperatures upon us now! Hope to see you out at the course soon. Some great Victoria Day weekend rates available this weekend.
Green is not in good shape
Fairway was in pretty good condition, not very wet. Pace of the round was acceptable, only the green was in bad shape, slow, bumpy and lots of burn spots from winter.
Thanks for playing "bowl4golf". Course is in much better shape after a few weeks of more seasonable weather. Hope to see you back at the course soon.
Golf In April
Have played this course before and really enjoy it. This time the conditions were somewhat poor, since it was early in the season. First couple of holes had the greens closed off completely, and the fairways were sopping wet. May have been better to wait a bit!
Thanks for playing "MarkyT1958". All the greens are up and running and the course is rounding into form. Course is actually much drier than usual and firming up nicely. Hope to see you up at Silver Lakes Golf & Conference Centre again soon.
friendly pro shop opperator
Green condotion was no good and two holes has been temporarily green because of preparation for winter.
Thanks for the kind words and glad you were treated well by our proshop staff "Eddy2969386". All of the greens are now up and running with no temporary greens. Hope to see you out at the club soon. Great Victoria Day long weekend specials available from now until Wednesday.
Early Season
Silver Lakes is a wonderful test of golf : it is a beautiful course. It would be one of my first choices in the area at all times.
Some winter damage has left the 2nd and 3rd holes with temporary greens. (Which I would note are actually not bad / and don't really diminish the holes themselves by much)
It's a low lying course / so it is pretty soggy - but it is still a great track even given the conditions.
Thanks for playing "u000007663068". Golf course is rounding into shape with no temporary greens. Hope to see you out at the course soon and happy to hear that we are one of your first choices. Have a great holiday weekend!
Great end to our season of golf
The weather man didn't come though with the mainly sunny day, but the 45 degree temp was tolerable. The coarse was fabulous compared to our home course. With all the leaves down, the grounds crew have done a great job in clearing the fairways. The traps and fairways were first rate and didn't reflect the final days of the season. We would like to come back when all the leaves are on the trees...the course would be stunning.
Glad to hear it Rick. Golf Course is opening up this Friday hope to see you out!
Excellent maintenance
I was impressed that both fairway and grrens were clean and well managed despite it was November. I enjoyed the game without hassle. Thank you very much.
Thank you for visiting us! Look forward to seeing you out this spring. Golf Course is opening up on Friday April 17th!
Fairways are very well maintained and not too many leaves for this time of the year!
Very good pace at 4 hours during early afternoon time, very well maintained fairways and tee boxes. Greens need to be cut 2-5 millilitres shorter!
Thanks for your comments Neilla. Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves. Golf course is opening up this Friday April 17th hope to see you out soon.
course in great condition for late October.
The course was in great condition for late October.
Hidden Jem!
Very nice course, like that you have to play positional golf! don't just smash the ball and go get it in the next fairway? have to play smart!
Took a Day
Couse was in great shape, for the time of year. Greens were really good.
The group in front of us were really , really , slow. And the said part is, they were being held up as well !!!!!
Not sure if 5 hours is a normal round for this course, of if I just happened to be following a beginners tournament?????? Anyway, tee'd off at 11:30 and finished at 4:30. Long cold day!
A Gem in the woods.
For late in the season the course , like all year was in
great shape. The greens were good and the pace of
play was good.
good golf course
with good green fee rate and very quite day excellent
