Course is a gem that has not been updated or maintained
I’ve played this course a lot over the years, the characteristics for each of the nine hole courses are challenging. A few parts are very disappointing. The snack bar as big as it is, does not offer much, the course is not well-maintained, the sand traps are basically wet, sand traps that dried out, and the landscaping around the holes is not maintained at all. There were several areas on the course that either got flooded or something happened where the course is damaged and we did not recover the golf balls, the putting greens look like they were aerated recently, but never recovered. The one good thing I would say about this course, and it is very good is that the staff is super friendly.
Stay away! Awful course
Why is it named Royal Vista? Jungle weed vista is more accurate. I’ve played over 40 years and it’s #1 for the worst course. 1) portable toilets not a real restroom. Only one real restroom is in clubhouse. 2) Nothings been maintained weeds and grass are so long impossible to find your ball. We were 4 players and left the course 14th hole. The putting and fairways in bad condition. Plus one female player couldn’t use the disgusting portable toilets. We all agreed and said it felt like we were in Amazon jungle dirty and weeds. SHAME ! Range is bad and pricey. There $8 for medium is $5 small size elsewhere. We noticed only local residents go there. Not much outside visitors at all. Waste of money.
Getting worse
Overall, I was disappointed with my experience at Royal Vista Golf Course. The poor course conditions, slow pace of play, and unhelpful staffs made for a frustrating round of golf. I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone looking for a quality golfing experience
Where has the turf team gone???
I have been playing this course for over twenty years. With a thirty percent increase of business since the Diamond Bar course closed, this course should be in better shape. I counted at least 4 different grass types on the fairway. The first cut of rough was over 3 inches long. Severe thatching was all over the course. With the amount of rain we have had in SoCal they should be embarrassed of the course conditions. I don’t mind any green fees so long as the value is there. You have some time before the Diamond Bar course opens up so please get it together or let them build the houses! (East/North course played)
Royal Vista CUT YOUR GRASS!!!!
I wont be coming here for awhile... everything was green dont get me wrong , but Royal Vista you have to do some course maintenance and cut that grass , i know were my ball landed but once you get there its gone , last time i was here it was much better i dunno what happened
Course unkept!
Haven’t played here in almost 6 months but what the heck happened?! This used to be a decent course for the price but it’s now one of the worse. I probably lost 12-15 balls and I’m not exaggerating and I didn’t go OB or water. Imagine losing your balls in the rough and even on the fairway! How? The grass is unkept. It’s been raining a lot in SoCal but boy, you can’t play in that condition! You should close it down and clear up the course first.
Without a doubt, the worse course conditions I've ever seen.
Came here to the East Course to play nine holes with a group. I have to say, I paid $30 for nine holes and even if it was $5, it would have been too much. What the heck happened here? Sure it's been raining, but the course must not have any drains or mowers. They should just close for now, or this place is going to be destroyed from the carts. Besides the mud and muck, the grass is almost a foot tall in the rough and you will not find your ball without a good eye and a search party. I've played on dirt golf courses that were better. The Greens were also punched with heavy sand coverage, but you can tell that once they recover, they will be in decent shape. That's the only good thing I can say right now. Come on RV, golf is your business, but it won't be for long with course conditions like this.
Very bad course management
Second time I played and the whole place was not managed right and I ruined my brand new shoes and pants. I am not sure why they still charged $60 per person. I will never go there and worst experience.
Worst course ever!
Dont play here! I’m not coming back here even if it costs $5. It’s the worst course I’ve been into in California with a poor course maintenance and service. Dont expect to find a ball in the fairway because the grass is so long you’ll consistently lose your balls. Trust me. It’s not worth your time.
Cause not kept up
This place needs to do a better job an keeping the course in better shape, sand traps are dirt and grass is too long even on the fairway.
Worst golf experience ever (Staff and course conditions)
I booked a Sunday, 3/26, tee at 2:30 pm for the South/East course to chill with the boys and enjoy my afternoon before another long week. I showed up early to checked in at the golf shop and found out that another group had booked the same tee time, and the gentleman working at the front desk said that everyone is being “funneled” to the South course.
I booked the pre-twilight time anticipating that 4.30 hours (5 hours for a long round) should be sufficient for us to finish 18.
We did not officially tee off until 2:45 pm given the double/over booking. There were groups of 5s and 6s playing and most holes we would have to wait about 10 minutes to tee off.
Given the recent rain we had in Cali it is understandable that certain part of the course would be muddy… however, muddy is an understandable… the conditions of the fairways on most holes of the South course was unplayable due mesh/mush ground that you can’t even stand on and the grass was beyond unkept with length about a foot long. It took us almost 3 hours to finish 9 holes… that’s just ridiculous even if the pace is slow.
We then proceeded to the East course for our next 9 holes. In making the turn, we met the Marshall who had closed off the East course. He mentioned that any Tee time booked after 2:39 pm will have to go to the North Course. My tee was 2:30 for the South/East course. I paid for the green fees in fully ($195 for 3) albeit this should have been discounted given the conditions. I implored to the Marshall that it is only fair he allowed us to play on the East, and I’m out here to enjoy a nice round of golf and not to sit around to tee off or hit my next shot given the slow pace of play and amount of people being funneled to North course. We spoke for about 10 minutes and his final reason was that if he let us play on the East course, then he will not be able to leave on time… how is this fair to me.
Anyhow, we ended up only getting in another 4 holes… where we were informed that it would be our last hole given that all carts needed to be in by 7… it was 6:50 still lots of daylight. I would have like to see this same type of enforcement on the pace of play… but nope didn’t see that at all.
I will never go back to this course. Staff was super unprofessional and ruined my golf experience. Golf for me is supposed to be relaxing and fun… this place ain’t it.
Bring ur waterproof shoes!!! Played E/N and this place is full of mudd and 6inch deep wet rough. My group lost at least 5 balls that rolled into rough and unable to locate. Greens rolled good. Punching this wk, so i would avoid this place for a few wks.
Was very muddy
With all the rain the course was very muddy
I’m actually surprised they let golf carts on the course only 2 holes were “cart path only”
The rough was grown very long so if you hit it there you might not find it.. I lost 3 balls hitting in the rough just off the fairway, knew exactly where it landed and it just disappeared.. might have gotten plugged because of the muddy conditions.. be careful where you step cause it might be straight into deep mudd.. we went out with 5 players and pace of play went well..
no complaints here really just trying to relay info on the mudd and long rough ..
Paid $66 per player I’d say for the conditions of mudd I’d say $55-$60 woulda been fair for admission
