Black Gold Golf Club
       About
Nestled in the foothills of Yorba Linda, Black Gold Golf Club sits on the site of a former Shell Oil Field. Arthur Hills, the course's designer, thought the location, with its dramatic elevation changes and panoramic views overlooking Orange County and Palm Beach, was the perfect place for a round of golf. On a clear day, the views stretch as far as the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island. The challenging layout is filled with narrow, rolling fairways and fast greens accented by thick patches of punishing rough. Due to the hilly terrain, a flat lie is hard to come by. The front nine requires accuracy and the back nine offers some particularly interesting risk-reward opportunities. Water hazards come into play throughout Black Gold Golf Club, most notably on the 18th. This par-5 finishing hole incorporates a cascading waterfall.

Brothers birthday round
We came up for my brothers bday. Every staff member was super friendly and helpful. It really felt like we were at a NICE course. We jokingly rate golf courses on their breakfast burrito, and lemme tell you: this place is a 10/10.
Staff was wonderful, food was wonderful, and the course was crazy fun and playable. I’ll be coming back 100%
Great and challenging course
Out in CA from Ga and chose this course due to pics and positive reviews for pace of play. It did not disappoint. Got my round in in about 3:30.
Layout is around a neighborhood and up against mountains. I found the greens to be quick but pretty easy. Not a ton of break. Fairways super hilly and tight. A ball off the fairway by much is in dry brush and gone.
Staff is friendly and so are the golfers.
One of the best in OC
Pound for pound this is one of the best courses in OC. They are rebuilding the driving range right not FYI
Great Public Course
The course was challenging and fun at the same time. Many greens were hard to read, but it was my first time on the course. Cant wait for the new driving range to open. The turkey sandwich I ordered for the turn was plentiful for a reasonable price!! Great selection at the bar for our 19th hole.
This golf course is not bad but it’s not a good course either.
This golf course feels like it’s been pieced together so it’s mostly hilly and short.
2nd time, not great!
I was looking forward to playing this course again. The first time I played I really enjoyed it. However, not this time. First of all there was no warning on the website about the completely destroyed driving range. I drove 45 minutes and paid a good amount of money expecting a nice warm up session before my round, NOPE!!! . The course was fine but the practice areas were terrible and overwhelmed by daycare kids. . Also, the Marshall and the starter had a bit of an attitude and the Marshall shadowed us for the first 9 holes telling us we were on the clock (7 minutes over according to our cart gps). There were no groups behind us and we caught the group in front of us. I will not book a tee time here again. Anaheim Hills is just as nice but the staff is a hundred times better.
Didn't live up to the hype
This course was recommended to me by a couple of friends in OC. I was expecting it to be a really great course, but honestly, I was really disappointed. The condition of the course was pretty poor and the construction work makes it a course I won't be returning to.
In one bunker with no sand
Had to hit of dirt in one bunker that got over watered and washed all the sand away. Otherwise, great course and got 133 yard birdie on 14! It will be a super place once the solar project is done and they have the driving range back.
Hot but little wind so Nice Day
The course is in great shape and the layout is challenging. Played solo and could have been done in 3 hrs but slow play on the back nine brought it up the the regular 4.5 hours. One issue with a sand bunker on hole 2 or 3 where the greens keeper watered too much so the sand was hard packed. Not like the powder sugar of most bunkers so and Anomaly. 90 degree day was pushing the comfort zone so if you don't like it sweaty, play in spring or fall. 87 out of 100.
