Black Gold Golf Club

I usually get a reminder from Golf Now for the tee times. Did now get one for this so we missed it.

I've golfed a couple times a year for the last 15+ years at Black Gold. Never had any issues and they're pretty consistent as far as quality, atmosphere, course conditions are concerned.

My recent round was no different. Every staff member from the bag drop guys to the pro shop, starter, marshall, beverage cart lady, maintenance crew, were pleasant and helpful.

Course was in good shape tee boxes thru the greens. Greens has been punched the week before and were on the mend. The staff here has always been good about making the green maintenance schedule very well known to the golfer. They also drop the rates pretty significantly, which not many courses do anymore arojmd So Cal.

Pace was good as well @ 4.25 hours. 2:00 on the front and 2:15 on the back.

Black Gold course was long and challenging. I would highly recommend the course and make sure you use a cart as it has many ups and down.

The only negative was the course was being aerated and the greens were pinched with sand. I can’t wait to play later when the greens are perfect.

If the cost of a foursome is going to push $600 and I’m going to spend hundreds with the cart service, then I believe it’s reasonable to expect the following two things:

1. Don’t turn on your sprinklers on the greens on consecutive holes during the middle of the round. If there is a reason you have to do this, then time it better. You basically disrupted my group’s ability to putt on back to back holes. When we asked the greenskeeper about it, he stopped his cart, stared at us for about 5 seconds, and then just drove off without saying a word. And his running away had nothing to do with language; this Caucasian man clearly understood and spoke English.

2. Don’t let singles sneak on the back 9 in the 1pm hour. We had back to back individuals cut in on is at the turn, and it ground the pace down to a halt. Took 3 hours to play the back 9 as a result.

Excellent conditions on 8/14/26; they had an SCGA tourney early in the day. Driving range is open again, putting green nearly complete but not open yet, hole 10 has been repaired after the 'storm drain' project but regular tee box not open yet, staff says it should be open around Oct 1, they're waiting for the sod to take hold. Other than that - excellent course, fun track, good upkeep and conditions!

Great course. Conditions were great. Staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Not sure how you can play an almost 5 hour round at 6:10am on a weekday? The foursome ahead of us didn’t even let our 3’some through even though ae waited on them from the 5th hole. Other than that, course was in great shape.

I haven’t left a review in awhile, but this was a terrible round. We teed off at 11:40 and at 4:30 still had 7 holes left. ONE group had the whole course backed up. It took us almost an hour to play two back to back par 3’s. I left at that point. If I stayed it would have been close to a 6 hour round. I play all over the country and I’ve never had a 6 hour round. This was on a Tuesday!!! Spoke to the pro shop about it to deaf ears. Totally a waist of money! No Marshall’s in sight in the back nine..

One of my favorite public courses in the area. The layout is challenging and the views are great. Fun mix of hole layouts. Always enjoy playing here.

Excellent challenging course …great value for money

The pace of play was very slow in the afternoon so I didn’t get to finish 16-18 but this was a fun beautifully manicured golf course! One of the best I’ve played in SoCal.

Always loved playing here. Hole 10 is undergoing construction so it is a short par 3 about 100 yards hitting from a mat for the time being.

Great course.pace of play was awesome only 4 hours.i have played 6 different courses around this area and average time has been 6 houre
