Winchester Golf Club
About
Winchester Golf Club is a short and sweet 5,200 yards from the tips. Those looking for length will have to go elsewhere, but if you want a quick round, this course can be played in less than four hours. The course is situated among Brooklin's gently rolling hills, which are covered by forests that are part of the Oak Ridges Moraine. The player-friendly layout is ideal for beginners. It is also a great place for kids to learn how to play. The golf course is not difficult by any means but it provides good practice. There are a few challenges spread throughout, including a fair number of bunkers bordering the greensides. Its forgiving nature and risk-reward opportunities make it a great place for golf tournaments as well.

A Dog's Breakfast
Holes overlap, tees are mixed up and backwards, and we just about got hit a half a dozen times by stray balls. We were not sure which green we were hitting to sometimes. There are many more good courses that are just as economical.
Extremely disappointed
Fix Tee Boxes Already!
Tee boxes are in need of some serious TLC. Unfortunate having unlevel tee boxes, driving range mats for tee off, and yardage signs could be repainted / repaired. Short course with enough of a challenge to it. Enjoy the layout and good for the money.
Course not being managed or maintained
Check-in at pro shop easy and efficient.
Course layout was challenging and picturesque.
Some holes have no signage, 1 hole has a ladies green, (who knew), most holes have no ball cleaning, halfway washroom building looks like it's shut down so have to go around side to find.
Marshall out on course friendly however pace (over 5 hours) on a short course not being managed.
With all of the rain we've had it seems they got missed .
Good course layout
Have all the hazards that you can find in this course. Valley, pond, haze, uphill, down hill, sand bunkers. You can find everything here.
Fall golf
It was typical fall golf with lots of leaves but kept very clean on fairways and greens by staff.
Beautiful course but can be challenging
I played as a single during a weekday and was really happy that the Proshop staff allowed me to play as a single. I finished a full round in 2hr 10min. I found this course to be really challenging as it has: narrow fairways; several steep elevation changes; a 500+ yd hole; well placed bunkers and several blind corners. Even though the course may be difficult, the course is kept in beautiful shape - especially considering the dry summer that we've been having. You also drive over gorgeous creeks and ponds that are really well maintained. If you're in the Durham area, this is a must play course for any average or experienced golfer.
One tip: On hole #15 both the blue and red tees are right beside each other however the sign says that the red tees have a 70 yard advantage - I didn't realize until it was too late that there are actually TWO GREENS on the same hole. One before and one after a massive pond. This makes up the 70 yard difference.
Interesting Course & Well Maintained
Although the Club House was a little 'tired', the course was quite good with very nice greens. The staff were friendly and in spite of a bit of rain, we played a very pleasant round. The signage needs some work. Course navigation was tricky although the rather unsual layouts added to the fun.
Well maintained
Condition of course very good especially considering recent drought. Will play here again.
Narrow and Nervous
Winchester has always been a challenge. The front nine extremely narrow. On a beautiful day, the pace of play was extremely fast the first 6 holes and above average pace the next 12 holes. Two big beefs: 1. the cart girl was only around maybe twice during the round, and 2. the Marshall while almost always omnipresent did no push up the slow play of the two twosomes ahead of us for the last 12 holes. His motivation was revealed on hole 16 when after I hit my best drive of the day (about 250 yards) decided to pick up my logoed Callaway Ball that was lying in the middle of the fairway! We never saw him again. As a result we will never play hear again.
good day
course was in fair shape after a long winter,, greens a bit tricky after grooming but overall a fun day
Golf course was good, however our play was not.
It poured rain all morning which probably was the reason the course was almost empty. It was like playing on our own private course, we only saw 5 people all day. Our golf play that day was not very good, but we hade a great time.
We have paled the Winchester golf course many times and it is great value for the money, anyway, we will be back next year.
Excruciatingly Slow
Beautiful warm September day. No beverage girl on duty. If a marshal was on duty, we never saw him. And if he was on duty, he did a very poor job. Why should we have to pay the same summer rates for such a lack of service? Greens hadn't been cut and were slow. Footprints and marks were more evident than usual. Got stuck behind a slow foursome who would not let us play through. Skipped three holes just to try to get some momentum. I left after 15 holes but my partner continued on to play the three holes we skipped.
a little tight seems to be the complaint I hear most
Keep your head up and play safe... I never had a problem yet ..
It's short par 4's allow you to post a good score..
Witch always makes you fell good after the round..
I enjoy my round when I play here..
