Reviews
good condition
overall very nice course... good condition.... plays well .. lots of fun
tough course
The course was in good shape and the experience would have been better but for the very slow play. T-times were not used and first come first served to the opening t box was employed. The back 9 is much tougher and some holes too tough for the average handicap. Greens were quick, traps in good condition - anxious to play this course on a non-weekend day.
Nice course with lots of sand and other hazards to challenge you.
This is definitely not a course for beginners, even though it's a bit short. Lots of sand traps, hazards to carry, etc. Very scenic course to play. Good value.
Great value, but...
I've been to this course twice this month on great GolfNow deals and it was not bad at all for the money, but the pace and the pro shop staff were terrible. It took about 5.5 hrs and we had to wait to hit every shot except approach shots. Yeah, obviously they were over-booked. The starter and marshalls were very friendly and helpful, but the check-in guy at the pro shop was unbelievably rude. I felt he was looking for trouble with their own customers. I'll never go there again.
Longest 9 holes of my life!
I have been on some slow courses but taking 3 hrs to complete 9 hours is inappropriate. Imagine pulling around the corner to the 9th hole and seeing 6 carts in front of you. We waited almost 30 mins to even tee off from the 9th.. When we requested a raincheck we were told "I don't have the authority to issue anything". We were told that the Starter was also the Ranger on a busy Sunday afternoon. I see that this course is not too concerned about their customers or how they feel when they are told to finish up (not even able to complete 18) because there is no lights on the carts. This was my first time golfing at this course and I would have loved to play all the back nine but I guess the course doesn't care about listening to their customers (all this after more then 5 hrs...)
Very Slow play
The course was in good condition, the pace of play was very slow. They over book this course all the time. It would be a very enjoyable course if it weren't for the over booking.
I definatly will not play here again, this is the third year that i have played here and it has been the same situation every time.
this course is short but challenging
The greens were not maybe cut because of a lot of rain the night before, so there were more then usual spike marks and ball marks. Other times the greens were in great shape. Will play again soon
The course was in great shape!
The pace of play was pretty slow on the Front 9. Overall, it was great day.
lots of elevation changes
greens a little slow but true, excellent fairways, best sand bunkers played all year, will definitely play again
Great course! Will play again
Wide variety of different hole designs. Well maintained. Nice white sand bunkers. Tricky, challenging course. Will recommend to friends and family.
One of the better local courses
It was a fun and challenging course. I haven't played this in about 10 years and found a lot of positive improvements have been made over the years.
Short holes, long waits.
2nd time playing the course. An interesting mix of short par 3's and 4's, and some pretty tough holes. Greens were in great condition, fairways and tee boxes average.
Worst part of the day was having to wait for a few minutes on essentially every shot. I didn't see a Marshall out all day. Pace of play was an issue.
Also, getting from the green to the next tee box can be extremely confusing to new players on a few holes. Better signage needed to guide you along, which may help pace of play.
very nice layout
Very nice course. A good selection of tee blocks. But there was a lack of distance markers on the tees and in the fairways, very hard to pick a yardage
The course has great views .Hitting out of trees to fairways .
The course was in great condition. It is along the grand river, some of the fairways are uphill so you cannot see landing area.Lots of bunkers on the sides.Great views when hitting out of trees to downhill fairway. The course has cartgirl who comes around regularly, their is also a practice area to warm up.Make sure to get a cart because greens to tees are not close on some holes and course is slightly hilly...not flat.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzz slow play!
Slowest pace of play I have ever seen on a golf course in my life. If you want to pay a few bucks to take naps between shots then this course is for you. If you want to play golf and play at a reasonable pace this course is not for you. I say again., zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz slow play
SLLLOOOOWWWW PLAY!
Reserved Tee time, showed up 20 minutes early only to be told they were close to 30 minutes behind because "some people showed up late"...."ahhh, I said pardon??" Round took 5 hours, waiting on almost every tee box for 5 minutes or more. Course Marshall was seen twice but said nothing to anybody and seemed reserved to the ridiculously slow pace. I personally will not go back which is too bad as the course itself is very nice, well kept, interesting and challenging. Jazzman
Well maintained course with scenic views along the grand river.
Always a good round of golf with the layout and conditioning.
Great value and would recommend for the avid golfer.
Slow play at its finest
SLOW PLAY AT ITS FINEST!!. playing this course is like putting in a days work. It takes min 5 hours. No marshals.
Beat up Greens/Super Slow pace of play
Not a course I would recommend even to my worst enemy. We had a tee time scheduled for 1:20 and did not actually tee off until 1:56. This course books tee times every 6 minutes for some idiotic reason. I would possibly say that the round was the longest I have played in over 5 years. We finished on the 18th green at 7:08. The course was in average shape. Many tee blocks were beat up and the blacks were an after thought on almost every hole. Greens were full of unrepaired ball marks and some of the worst spike marks I have seen on greens this year. I question whether or not this Golf North property has a fulltime greens keeper anymore. I would give this course a rating of 4.7 out of 10. BRUTAL!
Late teeing off, brutally slow, marshall MIA.
I'll never go near this place again on a weekend or holiday afternoon. Played mid-afternoon. We teed off 30 minutes late .. "some people were late for their times." Don't penalize others -- back of the bus they go. Staff and most golfers indifferent to glacial pace. Marshall was mostly invisible but upon sighting was typically useless. Better to not have one around at all than not interact at all and give people the impression their glacial pace is acceptable. Course is challenging, beautiful and nicely conditioned; shame about the pace of play and some of the maroons out there.
