Oak Bay Golf Course
About
Carved from the scenic woodlands along the eastern shores of Georgian Bay, Oak Bay Golf & Country Club incorporates rocky outcroppings and natural water features into its challenging championship design. The eastern coast of the bay is one of the largest freshwater archipelagos in the world and is home to diverse flora and hundreds of varieties of birds and fish. Both the fairways and greens are sloped and well manicured. In addition to the many natural challenges, which include trees and ponds, there are numerous strategically placed traps to watch out for. Oak Bay is located less than two hours north of Toronto but its beautiful setting makes it feel much further.

Hole 15, Par 3, If you make it over, green is two tiered! Photo submitted by taz4golf on 10/04/2013
Course Wintered Well
Course is in great shape and wintered well.
Greens were a little long and slow but rolled true.
Fairways were in great shape, rough was long but expected early in the season.
Only complaint would be some tee boxes were beat up and showed they were not maintained during the late winter/spring off season.
Nice course, too difficult for the average player. Bring lots of balls
Course was nice and for the most part I enjoyed it. Fairways were very narrow and everything off the fairway sloped steep into bushes/ ivy. Basically anything that didn't hit the fairway was a lost ball. I played with a higher handicap golfer who lost over a dozen balls and we had to stop at his truck after 9 to get more!! I lost my fair share as well.
Hole # 9 is extremely challenging. Especially for those players who play the red or yellow tees.
Bunkers brutal upscale course
Great course other than bunkers. Owners should be embarrassed as the members we played with were. No garbage cans or washrooms on course other than 5 th hole. For an upscale golf course it needs a lot of work . Picked up beer cans every tee to help out.
Oakbay golf club. Port Severn Ontario
Course layout beautiful. Tough. Bunkers atrocious. Fairways excellent but a lot of divots. Played with two Members who were very disappointed in the shape of bunkers. No garbage cans. Beer cans all overs course. No halfway house. You have to attend clubhouse after nine to use washroom and lose 10 or more minutes on way to 10 tee. Slows down pace of play . Nice course but it needs a lot of work.
Tough
Nice tough course. Tee shots if not in play very difficult. The course like many others right now in the region are very wet making it extremely difficult. Hitting lots of fat shots or trying to pick the ball blading it like a line drive. Having walked the course which was no problem. The bad thing is all the flags are the same color making impossible to know where the pins are. Front middle back is a guessing game. If you are to play bring plenty of balls. Another thing I noticed was if you lost your tee shot to right or left as each fairway is lined with trees there should be more red stakes to speed up play. Unless you’re in a tournament then make it a fun day and just drop another ball and hit 3. Anyways would love to try it with better conditions.
Difficult track but poorly maintained
We unfortunately played the first 6 holes in pouring rain. Course layout interesting but difficult. Not for golfers over 16 handicap. Conditions very poor. Bunkers mud and stones or underwater. Inadequate drainage of bunkers. Greens great. Some cart. Paths under water (18th hole)
Need to play a few times but still a difficult course and this was from my partner who is a scratch golfer
front nine hole layout
Front ninth hole par 5 needs serious changes. Fairway to small for low handicaps let alone high handicaps. The hole in general is poorly designed. Course should be widened, specifically the front nine.
Overall beautiful looking course, but needs some redesign.
Losing balls
So, the course is beautiful and in great condition. Staff friendly. However, there is no margin for error. Slightly hook or slice the ball and it’s gone. Just open up the fairways a bit more and it would be soooo much better. I might lose a ball here or there on a regular round, but here, today, 12!!! Too many!!! Played mostly from the blues, until I got frustrated and played a few from the whites. Won’t play there again. 9th hole is the worst par 5 ever.
Went for dinner after and the food and service were excellent. Would definitely go back to eat.
Very challenging course
We enjoyed our round today at Oak Bay. The course was in very good condition except for numerous ball marks on the greens from lazy golfers who did not fix them. If you are looking for a course to challenge your abilities, this is the course. Lots of long carries and into greens that have a lot of undulations and movement to them. Always enjoy playing Oak Bay
